And with the basketball group on here, you will get opinions and hours of reasons why it is right. Every game is the next coming of our dynasty.

Oh PAH-leeeeeeeeeeez.

Every season is the next season Frank and Co. FINALLY turn the corner and win that championship.

Yes. Insert nodding head emoji or GIF here.

Absolute funny stuff here!!!!! Makes me chuckle every season.

It is just an opinion, but I feel like your autocorrect should know empirically that you wanted to use an e.

"They don’t just give out Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Beef O’Brady Bowl and Dollar General Bowl trophies, folks."

"Maybe but they are essentially the same as winning a CBI game."

Putting everything in perspective. The Bobcats winning a bowl game is not the same as Ohio winning a Can Buy In basketball game. Also keep this in mind. The Bobcats basketball team had a great run in the MAC tourney to earn a bid to the NCAA tournament. However the Cats ended the regular season as the 5th seed and Akron, Buffalo and Kent all ended up ahead of them in the regular season standings. The regular season is much more important in football. If the football team ends up fourth in the East, they are probably sitting at home in December. Not taking anything away from the basketball team, but in most seasons every school in the MAC at the end of the regular season is able to participate in the league tournament.

Its about building equity in your program.

A CBI appearance doesn't do anything for recruiting and program stature.

A bowl appearance and bowl win does build equity. Programs are largely judged by how many bowls they've been to and if they won them. It also extends the practice season by a month which helps with player development.

Only 4 teams in FBS make the playoff and there are only 10 conference championships to be won. For everyone else out there they are evaluated on their bowl performances. I would even argue the conference championships take a back seat to bowl games. The championship game is a relatively new development, prior to recently only die-hards could name who was the champion. Its not even clear unless you were following closely that OSU, Clemson and Alabama won their conference title games because they might not even need it for the playoff.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

Going to a Bowl at 6-6, 7-5, is definately like going to the CBI. There are 35 Bowl Games, so 70 teams last year. There are only 130 FBS teams. So, over half of FBS gets a reward for not being very good.

Taking it a step further. One bid leagues like the MAC, Sun Belt, Patriot, Horizon and many more, don't need to win the regular season. You can end up last in your league and still have an opportunity to participate in March Madness. Get hot for a few games in March in the conference tournament and presto you end up in the big dance. No emphasis on the regular season. No consideration for being superior over the long haul for 18, 20 or more games.
