I wish him good things. I wish he were still here, but I can't fault him for the decision he made.

I still don't understand Jaaron's decision. I don't fault him and I don't know what he values. I guess playing higher level competition. I don't think he's an NBA prospect regardless if he plays at Michigan or Ohio. Does he have a better chance of playing a NCAA tournament game? Probably. Will playing at Michigan improve his oversees stock? Honestly I don't know. I know he's passing on leaving a legacy here at Ohio. Good chance he would've of been preseason ALL-MAC maybe even Preseason POY. Ohio would've been picked to win the East and win in Cleveland. If he bet on himself at Ohio, and won POY. His number 2 would have joined the other POY's that also have degrees in the rafters. I think that is much cooler than the swag bag you get going to the NCAA. Nothing is guaranteed. I don't have time to follow Michigan to really care. Next man up!

I will root for him. Can anyone really imagine how the last few seasons with him if we never had him?

Maybe 10-15 yrs ago, all of what you said might have mattered to him. But increasingly the mid majors are now regarded as minor leagues, and who wants to be POY in the minors if you can play in the big time?

He is dead to me, lol.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

Jaaron who?

I think so little about him these days I actually forgot he even went to UM. I won't watch any of their games anyway - so I literally won't care.

If Michigan is on and I have nothing better to do, I'll watch. I wish him well in his future endeavors.

Agree with Hawaiian here on a lot. I'm still a little salty about it when it's brought up, and I still don't get it, but it wasn't my decision to make. I despise the rule that allows it to happen without a sit-out year. There's nothing more from my personal perspective to be said about that.

With regard to your thoughts brucecuth, even if it's "minor league", unless he does magical things, he's a footnote at Michigan. At Ohio, he'd have been a legend. People would have made sure to not miss Senior Day because of Jaaron like they did with DJ, or Leon Williams, or Tillman, etc.

With as much college basketball as I watch, inevitably I'll watch him play at least once this winter. Since I rarely root for Michigan, I'll probably by default be rooting against his team, though not him personally.

I'm not one to root against players in general, especially players I "once loved." I am trying to just be indifferent, but I have serious temptations to root against him. Mostly, I don't want to decision to leave Ohio for Michigan to be seen as a good decision. This means I don't want him to boost his stock at any sort of pro career, and I don't want to see him get any type of national notoriety that he wouldn't have gotten at Ohio. Next time we have an elite 4th year Junior, I want the conversation to end with "yeah well Simmons did that and yeesh, that didn't go so well."

Deep down, I'd love to see him struggle, lose his job and minutes and Michigan struggle and miss the tournament while Ohio punches their ticket to the dance. Sorry.

Per Indiana state law, when I married a Hoosier I'm legally obligated to watch every IU game, so I'll see him a few times. It's not going to make my blood boil or anything, but I really do think he's just going to look like a replacement level Big Ten point guard. Solid but unspectacular.

It sucks what went down and the wound is still fresh, but just like LeBron going to Miami, I understand it.

There's something to be said for appreciating greatness, no matter where it is.

Haha you are obligated? If you were a bit further North you would be watching Purdue (though I am surprised all those farmers over there don't have you doing that anyway). Go up by the Region and you would be rooting for Notre Dame and further south and you would be a UK fan....the ONE thing you are obligated to do no matter who you root for now that you are here is .....BASKETBALL 24/7/365.

No, I meant I married an IU grad, not just an Indiana resident. We have two TV's in the living room, so I don't really have to pay attention to IU if I don't want.

But the game will be on one of them.

That's why God invented wireless headphones, I guess.

This part -- "the ONE thing you are obligated to do no matter who you root for now that you are here is .....BASKETBALL 24/7/365." Maybe growing up in Western Ohio caused me to have this condition. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

another thing to keep in mind with Simmons: Ohio was not his first choice. He transferred here (yes, I know the reason, but that doesn't matter). Transferring is like anything else in life. Do it once and it becomes easier to do it again...

Jaaron needs to be taken for what he was: a fantastic point guard who won us some games but did not lead us to an NCAA Tournament. He won't lead Michigan to the tournament either -- they will do that with their plethora of top prospects and a solid coach in Beilein. If Michigan is on the TV I will watch and will probably want Jaaron to do poorly. I won't be checking his stats or following Michigan basketball Twitter for him. I hope to forget about him by midseason when Kirk and/or Butler are giving us 12 ppg and 8 apg combined.

I voted "indifferent" but after thinking about it I think this is how I feel as well. The game is at a cross-roads. The rich have laid the groundwork to make Mids and below irrelevant. Every change in the game is designed to make the rich richer. Call me selfish if you want but I will be rooting for Michigan to fail hard. I hope Jaaron does well but I hope the team crashes and burns.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game." I will be cheering Jaaron every step of the way as I do with all of my current and former O.U. brothers and sisters; however, that will end when Ohio beats Michigan in the NCAA tournament and we go on to make the Final Four. Karma is nothing to mess around with, Michigan!!!

I agree with OUV's comments concerning the state of the game. If fact, I go a step further. I believe there are no mid majors anymore, at least as far as hoops is concerned. There are the major leagues, those who receive multiple tourney bids, and minors, that get only a single automatic bid. And if the majors could do away with the automatic bids, they'd do it in a heartbeat.

Look at our non conference home schedule. All minor league, including some bad teams from really bad leagues, and an NAIA school.

Yeah I know Purdue is supposed to pay a visit at some point, but I'm skeptical. unless there is a strong connection between the coaches, I expect Purdue to buy their way out of this commitment.

Didn't give him another thought after the second he said he was leaving. This will be the 3rd D1 program he has suited up for. I frankly hope he struggles terribly on the court. If any player doesn't want to be here I wish him well in his future endeavors.

If they're on and I have the TV on, I'll check in to see how he's playing. I didn't want to write anything about this as a post during the later part of last season, but I feared this might happen; Jaaron transferring to a school that's pretty much guaranteed to make it to the Big Dance. I looked at it like this: Jaaron is an elite player. And he knew he had one more shot to make it to the NCAA tournament. And although Ohio has some talent, you really couldn't project a sure path to the tournament, even if Tony Campbell was given another season. Such is the plight of a conference that gets no respect, a conference that most often gets one team only in the tournament. You could have a great team, have a great season, and if you have one off night during the MAC tournament, bye-bye. So do I like that he's gone? No. But I understand.

I will root for Simmons to dribble out the clock with his team down 2 with 6 seconds to play every chance I get. He doesn't wear our uniform anymore. Don't care.
