It's a weird feeling to have been around as long as I have and be unfulfilled by a 25 point win.

My immediate thoughts following the game are to wonder if the reason we have won so much in recent history is because everybody else is just God awful.

This team is showing a tremendous ability to take its collective head out of its collective ass long enough to look just brilliant enough to convince me that most of the game is being wasted.

I don't understand why the driver of the bus refuses to use the gas pedal.

Felt good to finally beat Mike Bath though.

I mean, what else do you expect? Even when Alabama beats Georgia State...they're not usually scoring on every possession.

The last 2 weeks we have had blow-out victories against sub-par teams. Yet everyone finds a reason to complain. We won...and won big. There's really not much more we can ask for....

How about all the home side concession stands having no coffee when I went down a little before halftime. #thinksmall.  They were competent enough to add hot water to ground coffee beans and actually accommodate the fans who stayed in the third quarter.

When you go in as 24.5 pt favorites, a 25-pt win is about what was expected.  (I'm sure there are those in Vegas who appreciate Fiami missing the two-pt conversion.)  But if we beat Buffalo, BG and Kent by 25 each, we'll have a completely different feeling.

I agree 100% with Pete. I watched Buffalo and BG, and if we play against them the way we did against Miami, we're going to lose by 20 to each. Why we don't go full court press all the time and use the pass to set up the run is beyond me, because our team performs better under those conditions. I like winning by 25, but it should have been 40. And I don't feel bad about saying it.

Let me grab a bit of what D.A. and Pete said.  Yes, today was about what you'd expect--but I don't see enough speed and passion out of us.

We just won 2 of 3 from teams CMU/EMU/redhawk that are 3-18 apart from their games with us (with EMU's win against a 1B team).  So, we lost one of those games and were 7 yards from being down 28-21 mid-third quarter in one of the wins.

We don't play complete games.  Too much passion doesn't work but we show very little passion.  And, we don't have edge speed on offense and where's the hurry up.  No-huddle is not at all the same thing as playing at a fast pace.

We can beat Beefs, BG, kents.  But we'll have to play a lot better.  A LOT.

It sure should be nice to see a bit of the joy of the game from our side.

Speaking of uninspired...TT had a great game!  BUT, did anybody else think he had a bit of an attitude problem late in the third quarter and in the ourth quarter of the game?  Didn't go thru with fakes after hand offs to BB, just stood straight up and handed off?  Looked disdinterested? Then the Pissed Off look running to the sideline after one series.  Just curious if I am seeing things or if something was going on?

You are 100% correct about the no-fakes-after-handoff on at least two plays late.  On those plays he looked like he was about as interested in the results as he was in a disease.

Yes, I noticed that too.  I wasn't sure how to interpret it.  I couldn't figure out if it was disinterest, a new power football swagger, or just a new look of some sort.  By power football swagger I mean saying, "we are going to run the ball down your throat, we don't even have to bother to fake something else and there's nothing you can do about it."  At that point in the game that was basically the case.  I certainly hope that was the answer and not disinterest.

T.T. was acting like this @ EMU as well. He is playing well, but he looks extremely frustrated about something on this team. My honest guess...it's the offensive play calling.

I thought it might be that he had to come back in with 10 min to go and an 18-pt lead.  Not sure he was expecting that.  He seemed to snap out of it after Dante carried three Fiami defenders about five yds for the first down.

Wait, uninspired? Was that from our QB who threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs with no turnovers and zero sacks? Was it Donte Foster, who fought for every yard and was nearly impossible to bring down at times while scoring three TDs? How about Beau, who had 143 yards in his first 14 carries, an average of over 10 ypc? Maybe it was our defense, which recorded seven more sacks, forced an INT and left all three QBs with completion pacts under 50%? I guess I'm struggling to see who was uninspired.

Well, you see, after 10 minutes, we were on pace to win 84-0, and Foster was on pace to catch 12 TDs, and we only won 41-16, and Foster only had 3 TDs, so really it was a let down.

I blame Miami's suckage.

I noticed the pouting. As a great American once said on Twitter, he needed a Snickers.

I'm not of fan of his increasing displays, but I understand where it's coming from.

To answer the question, the expectation is 60 minutes of football.

We rolled 14 points up like Miami was standing in maple syrup. Then we stopped.

Championship teams put their foot on the throat and let up when the outcome is clear. We seem to be content with a two possession lead and 47 minutes of phlegm.

The reason for awesome stats is pathetic competition. I will take no solace in any stat against a team with no wins in November.

TO ALL:
Coach agrees with you all. Check out his after game comments,"WITH THE EXCEPTIONS OF A FEW LAPSES I WAS SATISFIED".
Frank was pleased with this effort from many aspects of the game. We did a better job of tackling and our all around play was sound. These were 2 aspects that were points of concentration during practice this past week.
We did not play down to our competition.
The boys will be ready for "THE BULLS". We may even get a few more injured players back as we have a 10 day break.

I have to agree with the "uninspired" characterization. Pre snap most of our defenders look rather casual about getting into position. I am not sure how this affects performance. Our past 4 games have been against  the worst teams in all of  FBS. How can we be cocky after wins against EMU, Akron and Miami? I worry about our ability to dial it up against the better teams we will soon be playing.

We don't play Ball State, NIU and Toledo in the regular season. Our most challenging remaining opponents are Buffalo and BG. I respect all of the remaining opponents but how far can our program really progress if we can't  beat Mid-Level MAC teams on the road?

I would feel a lot better if we were executing better and playing more inspired. With 4 important games to go I really don't want to hear  in a post game report that "we were not  ready to play today" which is just another way to say "uninspired".

I said the same thing about one of his late handoffs. It looked completely nonchalant, but I agree. I think it's the offensive playcalling. TT was ON THE MONEY yesterday with everything and I think he wanted to air it out. At the least, I can really only one series that was Boykin up the middle three times and punt, but man, take the shackles off. In general, we did utilize the edges a good deal more yesterday.

One thing that I couldn't understand is why we didn't do play action to Cochran when we had the wind to our back.  The running game worked early, so Fiami had to respect that.  And the one hitch in the deep pass to Cochran has been underthrows; on most of them, Cochran has had to wait for the ball.  But that shouldn't have been an issue with the wind yesterday.  I would've like to have seen that at least once or twice, but Cochran wasn't even a target yesterday.

this team isn't Baylor, they don't hang 70 every week. But as good as they are and as bad as most of our opponents are it feels like we should.

I don't know, to me it feels like there's a politeness to our play calling that says we're going to maintain a comfortable lead over you but we're never going to dominate you to the point of embarrassment. I think its how you win games when as a coaching staff you have no desire to leave for greener pastures.

Teams study films and it was wise to take the spotlight off Cochran in this game.  His deep game was not needed and getting Waters on film as another threat will help open Chase up against the Beefs.  Might also help the running game.

I'm surprised at the # of posts here which recognize our rather uninspired play at points and 'awesome stats vs pathetic opponents.'  No NIU, Ball or Toledo, indeed.  I'm not surprised that one poster wouldn't recognize that ever and would have an excuse for everything.

Win or lose, it would be nice to see some passion from our side.  Not in-your-face-braggadocio stuff.  Just some emotional involvement and leadership.
