I disagree. I think that would be a nightmare for the athletic department.

I didn’t say it would be easy but you could do it. You are not sharing athletes or coaches. Support staff would be miserable, but VB, MBB, WBB all share the convo while in season and and VB workouts during winter, spring, Baseball, softball, soccer, football all have separate facilities, XC, Golf have no facilities. It could be done. Will it? No.

You did actually say “you could EASILY play all college athletics at the same time“

You could. What’s easy for some isn’t easy for all. I said the support staff would be miserable then I gave you the facility rundown. The logistics for the teams and facilities is easy.

Just saw the Big 10 is expected to announce a conference only schedule this year.

The entire summer conversation about football, the NFL Draft, releasing of schedules, all of it was Kabuki theater.

So can we claim a national championship? Or does Covid get it by default if no season happens?

It's official. The ACC and PAC 12 are anticipated to do the same. The ACC seems to be pledging to help Notre Dame fill out a schedule.

Programs that were relying on payouts from money games are going to be in a world of hurt.

Actually not that bad. They will be out salaries for coaches (expect staff layoffs) and scholarships, save money on busses, hotels, meals. Some schools may loose less money

It will go nicely with our 2020 MBB national title share

I was thinking that you could move football back to Spring, an enhanced Spring practice. But then someone pointed out that you would have a quick turnaround to the 2021 season. So play March through May and you're back to training in June. At this point, I hope someone is thinking about how/if this could happen. Because delaying the football season by two weeks doesn't seem like it will do at this point.

Central Michigan may disagree. Lost two money games yesterday a total value of $2.2 million - approximately 25% of their total athletic budget.

Maybe 25% of their football budget but not entire athletic budget.

From an Ohio Football standpoint, impact is less than for other MAC schools.

Correct - more clarity

2018-19 number $25.2 million of CMU's $33.6 athletic budget came from university funds (fees, etc.) so lost games is 25% of their revenue not provided by CMU. 8% of overall budget

Unless there's a dramatic turnaround by the end of July and the spikes in Covid cases drop, I don't see anyway the season gets played this Fall. Really hard to justify the risk to athletes given the current health environment. Ohio is in better shape than other states but things are worsening.

I'm starting to lean this way, too. At the college level in particular. For the NBA/NFL/MLB, etc. players are paid and as employers the leagues have a lot more justification in asking people back in exchange for compensation. The compensation helps incentivize the risk.

But what's the justification for the risk at the NCAA level? These are supposed to be students first who are playing sports for the love of the game. How do you justify the extra risk of athletics?

According to the Japanese, the worst places for transmission are places with singing or loud cheering, and gyms.

So, no cheering at games this Fall (if there are any)?

As the Japanese say, we should cheer in our hearts.

I'm becoming doubtful of any football at all, but if it is played, I really don't think there will be fans.

Just saw that the Patriot League canceled all fall sports.
Army and Navy are exempt.

Unfortunately,another domino falls.

Carolina Panther season ticket holder - just spoke to the Panther ticket office because final payments are due August 1. Wanted to know if they are going to reduce my payment since we know for certain we will have only one pre-season home game (at most). They said the NFL should be making a formal announcement this week - next at the latest with respect to the preseason (may not have any games) and the refunding of tickets to regular season games where "season ticket holders do not attend."

Sounds like the league will follow the Ravens and Jacksonville in 25% capacity. No season tickets -single game ticket sales only with season ticket holders provided first chance.

So NFL will have formal fan policy - NCAA will certainly nave more restrictions.

The MAC would bag the fall season tomorrow if the BIG10 would let them. The requirements are absolutely ridiculous, and if you get the virus it’s 3-4 games minimum you miss. Your buddy gets the virus and you were with him, minimum 2 games you are out. You’ll have more things shoved up your throat and nose than L&’$@ L/;:@+& on a weekly basis.
