Buffalo is up 2 on CMU in the 4th.

CMU is in the NCAA with near certainty. Ohio and Buffalo are in on every bracket I see right now but only barely in most cases. Miami was on the bubble most of the year but we likely permanently put an end to their at-large chances when we handed them a 3rd straight loss in Oxford.

We finished 2 games ahead of the Bulls in spite of having to play CMU twice. Buffalo has some nice OOC wins but one would like to think we are slightly ahead of then in the at-large pecking order. I see Buffalo win against CMU as somewhat problematic. I thought today's game was probably for an NCAA berth while tomorrow would then be for a MAC championship. A loss to Buffalo in the final would be a less forgivable loss in the committee's eyes and puts us third in the MAC pecking order. One would hope that 27-5 in the #7 RPI conference would be enough but I would be less sure with a loss to Buffalo than CMU and think that a loss to Miami would put us in a very precarious position.

Root hard for Drake in the MVC. They will be in ahead of us and no other MVC team has a chance at an at-large. We might or might not get in ahead of Rice and Boise St. but wins by both in the CUSA and MWC tournaments make matters less complicated.

Quinnipiac and Belmont winning their tournaments was a plus but I am 95% sure we would have gotten in ahead of them. Losses by James Madison and VCU in tournament finals to Drexel and Fordham, while the Colonial and A10 are more familiar to at-large bids than the MAAC and OVC, are probably not any more of a concern than losses by Quinnipiac and Belmont would have been.

Obviously, root hard for Ohio in the MAC as that improves OUr chances. :)

Down goes CMU. That makes the path to a MAC tournament championship and automatic NCAA bid slightly easier and the path to a NCAA at-large slightly harder. It does improve the MAC's chances of having three teams in the NCAA tournament.

Ohio up 13 at the half. Given how the first two Miami games went don't get comfortable.

Yeah, we played pretty well, but I still feel like Miami has us right where they want us.

Up 19 and unlike in most of the tougher games on the schedule foul trouble is not much of a concern.

55-28.

A four point play by Erica Johnson about 2:30 into the third seemed to turn an outside chance at a Miami comeback into an impossible one. Miami went stone cold after that.

Tremendous defensive effort. I honestly thought Miami would come out and annihilate is. Didn't happen. Total domination the other way. I would think we are solidly in the field now.

For everyone that only has seen the final score they were up 70-34 when they pulled the starters.

The loser of tomorrow's game, while far from a lock, has a very realistic chance of giving the MAC a third team in the NCAA.

Shaba's got it right here, his earlier comment about feeling Miami had us right where they wanted us however . . .

Defense was tremendous. We knew they wanted to lob over the fronting we were working hard for against their bigs and the help from the weak side when they were able to complete the lob was just tremendous. Switches, helping, hitting the floor, frantic defensive effort was simply tremendous. Did I say tremendous? Just tremendous. And when we play like that on the defensive end and shoot like we did we'll have anyone right where we want them.

Well, it's not like the final score of 74-48 isn't impressive enough of a beatdown.

Damn...What an asswhooping.

I like to think Ohio is in with a close loss tomorrow. ESPN had us as the last team IN even before our 2 convincing wins thus far. Hopefully we just win tomorrow so the selection committee can break Buffalo's heart instead of ours.

Time for the women to avenge that 73-43 loss to Buffalo a few weeks back. Time for them to beat Buffalo by 30! GO BOBCATS!

Other than the fact that they couldn't hit a three for nearly all of the first three quarters, they looked good. They were more athletic than CMU at several positions. Summer Hemphill more than held her own against POY Reyna Frost, and several quick guards made life tough for Presley Hudson, especially when she had to run the point when CMU's PG ran into foul trouble. It looked like the Bulls were going to run away with it in the second half, but then CMU made a nice run to get back into it and take a small lead, mostly on the strength of three point shooting. Cierra Dillard, who was awful from three most of the game, didn't let it bother her. She simply starting driving to the rim and proved to be unstoppable. Then Hannah Hall, who had started at point for the Bulls most of the season but lost her job for the last several regular season games, took advantage of a starting opportunity and nailed a three to put it away.

If the Bobcats shoot the three the way they did today, it would go a long way toward neutralizing the Bulls height advantage. If the Bobcats can keep pressure on Cierra Dillard when she has the ball the way they did against Lauren Dickerson today, they might keep her numbers down. Dillard is considered to be a likely WNBA second or third round draft pick. Buffalo is terrific at pushing the ball after a defensive rebound, and will put up a lot of points in transition unless Ohio can get back. And the Bulls have a secret weapon - seldom used Autumn Jones played with her hair on fire coming off the bench today. I'm not sure she even scored a point, but for the time she was in she was a real defensive force.

Thanks Joe, good info. Dilliard concerns me, seeing her in the Convo made me think she can play at the next level. Should be a good game, hope we can come out on fire again and Ericka keeps playing like she'll be playing at the next level in a couple years. Go Cats. What is . . .
