The way many on here were talking up BVP in the pre-season you would have thought he was going to be the next Thunder Dan. Another example of a player who continues to regress in this system. Since MAC play started, BVP is 12-44 from the field.

Recruiting is just abysmal.

Maybe FACTS will cause you to re-evaluate your negative post. Do you feel proud that you choose to criticize a 19 year old? He averages 22 minutes per game, 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds and shooting just under 42% with 72% at the line. Not too shabby. He's in his first year.

I paid my way through my time at OU. I do not feel bad pointing to stats for a guy getting 20 plus grand a year to go to the college I love for free. And those that say we cannot rip Saul must make 500 plus at their jobs.

And I paid my way as well. Do you want a medal? Athletic and academic scholarships are part of college. He earned is scholarship and his numbers for a freshman are pretty decent. I wish you'd left this site when you said you were going to. Your posts get really tiresome and old.

Here we go again....the sensitivity police out in full force. You must have really hated the Ohio game a few weeks back on CBS network when they had a graphic listing where every single one of TK's turnovers on the season took place on the court. The narrative on this site that you can't bring up stats to back up a college basketball player struggling is just absolutely ridiculous.

I'm sure you'd say to Vander Plas in person how bad he's playing, right? I'll repeat his stats are pretty damn good. Sorry you are unable to comprehend said numbers. And on yeah .. most players have a few bad games and go through slumps. Only thing ridiculous here is how immature you are as an apparently grown adult.

Jerry....he's shooting 27% in in nine MAC games. That's a pretty good sample size, not "a few bad games" as you suggest. Those are the facts and his own coach made it a point to bring his name up during the post-game show. If you can't comprehend this, I can't help you.

He lost his legs about 3 weeks ago, we have a week off, let’s hope that he can regroup. GoCats

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

So you're claiming it's fatigue? At least that's fixable. But if true, it's yet another nail in the coffin for our "strength and conditioning" program. Emphasis on the air quotes.

Some on here mentioned after the loss to Kent how it seems Ohio delivers a big dud when playing in front of a relatively large crowd. Then today, in front of the biggest crowd of the year, the Cats deliver an even bigger dud.

Good news is that Ohio has Tuesday off before facing a Miami team that has suddenly found its way, winning 4 of its last 5.

College Book Store just posted a picture from player intros, and the attendance looks like total crap for Sibs Weekend.

I just looked up the announced attendance... 7,887. Oof.
That alone speaks volumes to where the program is if that’s the largest attendance this season.

I thought the attendance was decent yesterday. Big crowd, bigger disappointment. A lot of those people won't be back this season.

It’s about 2-3K on the light side for a Sibs Weekend, in my opinion. Family Weekends typically flirt with or just crack 10K.

What the heck. The Paw is the most generic, non-original logo in the history of American higher education. Every other high school in the country has some kind of a paw -- be it a kitten, a lion, a tiger or a rat paw. I cringe every time I see one of these logos. Even the darn Clemson paw looks high schoolish to me. AttackCat forever!

The paw is timeless, classic, simple yet fierce at the same time. And it was still uniquely OU (variations from Clemson or Cincinnati etc.)

The fact that lots of schools use something similar is for good reason. It's a really nice looking logo. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Alas the geniuses in marketing wanted to "stand out" when they switched to the Attack Kitten. Well, we stand out now - just not in a good way IMO.

Then again I think the same thing about the RedChickens logo now. Go back to the good old Redskins logo. That was a really cool, intricate and fierce logo. Of course Fiami would slink away from that due to social pressure.

Pointing out a stat is not ripping a kid. And if you listened to Saul post-game show he went out of his way to throw BVP name out there as someone who is struggling mightily. And yes...this is college athletics...we are allowed to point out stats. Check out the TKO-Meter and Presto-Meter if you want too as well.

Yes on Clemson, but Clemson is, and has been, a national brand and if a green paw showed up in a graphic on TV, most would think it was an color error and never think of Ohio. Thanks to the attack cat you can live around he country and have a logo that answers the question... what school is that? In this regaurd, the paw was useless, except at homecoming.

The paw reaches a narrow audience that, other than alumni, barely gets beyond Athens County.

Good news, you can continue to enjoy paw products whenever it’s time for OU to protect the copyright and make some.

To the Groce haters, how many games in the power 5 will Saul be head coaching?

How’s the baseball team looking?

Except the fact the Clemson Paw and the OHIO Paw are very different in every way.

Well, tell that to the people at Clemson. They threatened legal action when our paw was first introduced until someone, probably one of our lawyers, pointed out to them that a tiger paw and a bobcat paw looked a little different. And, of course, it's so darn generic that you couldn't really get a trademark on the concept of using an animal paw as a logo.

I had fun. Beautiful weather, heard the band, saw some old friends. We didn’t win, but saw some good plays. Had dinner at Zoe’s and this morning strolled the campus in 64 degree weather and brunch at the Diner.

Stop the presses. Giacomo is OK with the precipitous slide involving the Ohio basketball program.

I too enjoyed my visit to Athens this past weekend. Spent time with daughter and son, had a few cold ones at BW with Alan prior to the game. Unlike Giacomo, however, I left the Convo with a few minutes left in the game frustrated with the product on the court (not including the Red Panda).

My quick understanding of the Clemson paw is that it's based off of a plaster mold of a tiger's paw from the Museum of Natural History in Chicago. A signature element of its trademark is a small little hook in the bottom right that was distinctive of the print taken from the animal. Most high schools etc. that "borrow" the logo have a version without that hook as a first step to avoid any legal trouble. The frayed edges of the Clemson paw are a lot more unique (and authentic to a real tiger) than most of your generic prints used for everything from wildcats to bulldogs.

Don't know how often a lot of these throwback logos popular on shirts were used in their day but it seemed like Clemson was another school in the south who were the Tigers with a fairly generic looking logo (the sailor hat cat shows up for Clemson, Auburn and LSU on these shirts). Prior to the pawprint it looks like they were even more generic with a stylized "C" on the helmet (for a time even using the "wishbone" C synonymous with the Reds and Bears).

Most high school and down athletic directors probably don't take the time/have the knowledge to know the difference between the various animal prints. Most likely picked from an offering that the uniform/scoreboard/gym floor company gave them at one time. Having looked through various spirit catalogs and such, they sell temporary tattoos etc. with generic animal prints in a variety of colors but not necessarily distinctive to wolves, dogs, cats etc. The Ohio pawprint logo, while pretty accurate, in my opinion, falls more into a generic paw logo category.

Too many high schools and youth programs use "borrowed" logos for my liking but that's an entirely different discussion. What high schools are currently using some version of the attack cat? A few that come to my mind that I've seen are Waterford (used as a wildcat but currently I think they are back to a more traditional logo) and Cambridge (also the Bobcats). The former Brookhaven High (who were technically the Bearcats) in Columbus used it for a time prior to closing.

Oooooooo, so they threatened to file suit??? Big deal, guess what? Clemson did not file suit, why? Because their suit would be baseless. There are NO similarities between the two with the exception that they were both based off animal feet.

I can relate - we left with 5-6 minutes left on the clock, something I'm not sure I've ever done unless it was for a big Ohio lead during non-conference games, and left for the beauty of the outdoors and the tranquility of the West End Cider House. It made me wonder why I didn't leave sooner. Needless to say, the highlights of the day did not occur during my time spent inside the arena. In retrospect, that's a good sign. At the time, I wasn't happy about it.

I left w/11 minutes to go in the game after text from my son that he was at the ER in O'Bleness w/severe abdomen pain (had to restrain myself from replying that I was in severe pain as well watching the game....). Best part of the longer than planned visit to Athens was the appendectomy was a success and he is recovering quickly and well....
