He's a good writer, but there's a reason he's still stuck in Athens, Ohio, after all these years. Too comfortable being a PR guy for his coaching friends.

He is getting owned by the Post in terms of beat coverage. Pretty pathetic.

And tonight he tweets how Ohio didn't quit during crunch time down 20 with 75 seconds left. It's such a joke the lack of reporting he's doing on this issue.

Huh, I didn't need Arkley to tell me this. I made the very same remark to the people sitting next to me during that late run, "At least the kids aren't quitting." Like Alan said it was close to getting real interesting. Why they couldn't play with that intensity just a few minutes earlier, I'm not sure, and is a good question for discussion. But, I think Arkley's tweet reflects the thinking of most OHIO fans who stayed to the bitter end. What do you want him to do? Should he say something like, "Just another example of too little, too late, for the lame duck coach who is just waiting out his time till the axe drops." Would that make you happy?

There is no pressure at that point in the game, down 20 with a couple min left. Nothing to lose, all the sudden that basket gets bigger.

Many people have voiced a concern about all the injuries Saul has had to endure. This may be true. It was also true for Solich. The difference is that Solich still managed the team into having winning seasons.
END OF DISCUSSION! TIME TO MOVE ON!

GO BOBCATS

OKAY! WE CAN FINALLY END THIS THREAD AND MOVE ON! BUT WHAT WOULD WE TALK ABOUT IN THIS FORUM?

BUT, GO BOBCATS. ;-)

Now, seriously...comparing injuries to a basketball roster of 13 scholarship players, that lost 2 out of a rotation of 8-10 players, to a football roster with 80+ scholarship players losing 5-6 players out of a rotation of, what 50 players, is comparing oranges to bananas.

BINGO!!!!!! When Dorian Brown went down in our Buffalo game two years ago....we had to roll out different backs. Unfortunately we missed the MAC championship because of Akron loss. But injuries are injuries...its part of the game. A good coach knows how to rotate and get the best out of his players. I've never known Ohio Basketball to be this soft! The alums of the past would be traumatized by this years play. No passion or chemistry. Hire the girls coach!

Forgive me, but Bob Bolden is the "Women's Coach".

Like a friend of mine says, Phillips was fired over a year ago when it was decided to not extend his contract. So, relax folks. Its over.

I'm in the camp that believes that injuries to his very best players (Campbell, Carter, Dartis, Gollon) and transfers by two of his best recruits (Taylor, Simmons) did him in more than anything else. Both of those happening in your first 5 years are really really tough. Also, I'm not sure why some posters are so upset with this line of thinking.

Just curious in the limited time he's actually played how 1 of those players can be deemed as "his very best player"?

People are now referring to Gollon as one of Saul's best players. I do not think we have hit rock bottom yet.

He's continuing to vouch for Saul on Twitter. Disturbing stuff.

Cut 20 to 7 in about 2 minutes. What part about "didn't quit" do you object to?

And if you listened to post game Russ' first comment was on no quitting.

Did you watch the game? If the first thing you think about is that 14-1 run during garbage time...then you can have it. The game was over. My point is that Arkley is all puppies and rainbows with his coverage. The Post has owned him this year on the coaching change that is looming.

Sorry for your inability to comprehend .... this was about not quitting. Garbage time? Close but not quite .. the chance to cut deficit to 4 with 30 seconds yet again shows your lack of basketball knowledge. Not surprising though ..

the coaching situation needs t.o be resolved asap getting another coach seems like a good idea. if the ad chooses that route he needs to let saul know now and the immediately start lookin for the next one. we,d be best served with a rick majerus jary tarkaniain type. other options might be someone like jhon Rhodes or even Thad matta. Sean miller would be good too but it,d be hard to see him coaching at ou. bottom line is change is needed.

Actually, Thad Matta is not as crazy as you would think. Sure the finances don't make as much sense, but it's near a place where his family has lived for over 10+ years. In addition, the stress of OU isn't as bad and can also maintain an in-state presence.

Unfortunately, will come down to finances on this one, but actually not as insane as I would think, especially if he's up for coaching.
