Yea, you didn't actually say that until like your fifth post. You made it sound like you were questioning the intentions and motivations of the students. It's a common tactic on the right today and Trump has embraced it, as BLSS pointed out.

As far as "a common tactic on the right",its a common tactic on both the right and left.

What examples can you cite of the left doing this?

There may be a few, I don't know. But I think "it's a common tactic on both the right and left" is a particularly toothless response to the leader of your party accusing vocal sexual assault survivors of being paid imposters.

Trump is minimizing the voices of victims. It's literally the antithesis of your own views on the matter. I believe you genuinely care about sexual assault victims and genuinely want these issues to be magnified. But I think it's important for you to understand that insisting "both sides do it" in response to Trump's disgusting tweet is part of the problem. If you want these issues to be brought to the forefront, I don't see how you can be anything but critical of Trump's tweet. Instead, you're seeking to deflect by insisting it's somehow just politics as usual and a common tactic deployed by both sides.

It's not politics as usual. It's a disgusting ploy seeking to quiet the voices of victims and drum up support by insisting vocal sexual assault victims aren't genuine in their grief and displeasure, but instead are just part of a grand liberal conspiracy. Politics as usual would be a disagreement about policy. This is a blatant lie pushed by the President that's designed to convince people who choose to ignore the concerns of rape victims that they they actually occupy the moral high ground.

It's conspiratorial garbage, plain and simple, and I don't see how one can make the argument that they're an ally to sexual assault survivors while simultaneously supporting the person pushing that garbage. One is completely inconsistent with the other.

My posts said absolutely nothing about questioning either the intentions or motivations of the students.

Trust me,if that was my intent,it would have been crystal clear to any reader.

I can't help it if you and/or others,"read into" what I posted as something beyond what I actually wrote.

As far as "a common tactic on the right",its a common tactic on both the right and left.

Considering at least three of us independently came to the same conclusion and based on your previous right leaning posts, I think you're being less than forthright in your explanations.

The signs were almost certainly a campus initiative funded by the administration to counter the signs hung during move-in. It's a PR stunt.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I highly doubt it's something organic from students given the similarity of the signs as discussed.

Oh come on, As Kavanaugh has shown us, these are things that simply are misunderstood and obviously have non-sexual meanings.

Going O.T. :

Watching the beginning of Justice Kavanaugh's swearing in ceremony last night,Justice Ginsberg did not look in good shape.

I saw an interview she gave around the time of the initial Kananaugh hearings.

She didn't look good then.

She seems to have gone downhill quite a bit since then.

You're right, that is off topic.

Off topic, but very true. The "lifetime appointment" thing is tricky. If you eventually get to such an advanced age that you are barely able to stay awake, that seems to be a problem (regardless of your ideology). There should be some sort of mechanism to prevent this, in my humble opinion.

FWIW, I'd be saying the same thing in 15 years if Clarence Thomas is barely coherent on the court in his mid-80's. Sometimes you need to recognize when to move on.

I agree with John Roberts that there should be a term limit for Supreme Court Justices, but we should start a new thread if we want to have that discussion.

Clarence Thomas didn't speak during a Supreme Court case for 10 years. Didn't ask a single question during a single case. That's not hyperbole. Next to him, Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a picture of health and vitality. Mentally, she's quite strong and is unlikely to retire under this administration.

Like I posted,I listened to an interview she gave during the initial Kavanaugh hearings.

No question she can still be pretty sharp. She also hasn't lost her unique sense of humor.

But,she does seem to be "slipping" physically, rather quickly.

As far as Del's suggestion that we start a separate thread on this, that would be great,as long as the mods allow it.
