It's not just four guys. I actually have a list of people that have left the program, not intentionally, but one that collected. Hundreds of players have vanished from the roster since 2005. From those, if guys are "slipping through Ohio's fingers", you'd expect to find dozens of them who have done well at the p5 or at least G5 level. Thus far we have Rossman, who did well for K-State, Ronnie Bell who started his Junior year at Georgia State, plus Kyle Snyder, who had a great year his Senior year at FCS SE Missouri State, and a player that had a good season at FCS Illinois State. That's not many examples of "slipping through Ohio's fingers".
Some of the players left the program, or never enrolled, for academic reasons. That has nothing to do with "slipping through Ohio's fingers". A guy like Tate Leavitt might have been a star for Ohio, but he chose a different path out of Junior College. The same for Deontai Williams. I'm sure that if I tried to track down all the non-qualifiers, I'd find plenty of success stories. I'd also find cases of guys with immense talent who could never stay eligible.
If someone wants a list of all the players who have left the program, here are the players gone before the start of the 2006 season.
