Every team has injuries.  It's about our recent record.  (If you do want to take all of Solich, then tell me where the MAC title is.)

Now, re-watch the BG game and tell me what you see.

1-8

That is Ohio's record the past two years against MAC teams with four or more wins. And that lone win came against a 4-8 Buffalo team.

We haven't beat a MAC team over 500 since 2011.

Something is wrong.

Come on. If you're going to track performance since 2011, don't cherry-pick games. Also included in there were wins over 9-4 North Texas, 10-4 Marshall, 8-5 LA-Monroe, and 8-4 Penn State.

If I can cherry-pick performance, I could make BBRY look like GOOG and vice versa.

I truly believe the 2012 team was devastated by injury. Jordan Thompson going down was kind of the last straw. They finally coughed it up against Miami and then got beat by good teams at the end of the season. Even then, they showed fight in those games. They got a few guys back for the Bowl game and spanked LA-Monroe. Heck, Tremayne Scott alone might have been worth another win or two in 2012.

2013 is a head scratcher as the Bobcats no-showed a couple of games (Louisville and BG) for the first time in Solich's tenure. Is something wrong? Maybe. But so far I have 8 seasons that didn't give me concern and one that does. So what should I do?

Doc--That is all that I'm trying to say.  Why are people so offended when I basically say the same thing?  And why can't they admit what is obvious?

Then, I say that the last year and a half (starting with 'after that the tires fell off') is such as to make me worried, though hopeful as always, about next year.

I invite all to throw darts at me, though, instead of taking a reasonably objective look at what we have been lately and the questions that should raise.

I guess with so many posts most everyone is not clear as to what you're advocating for here. You keep harping on the 20-game problem (someone else could look it as a 9-4 2012 team and 7-6 2013 team).

So what is that we do about the 20-game problem?
- Give you the Nobel Prize for identifying the 20-game problem?
- Stop sleeping at night?
- Tie our self-worth more closely to the 20-game problem and start feeling worse about our lives?

I mean I honestly don't know. You have offered no SPECIFIC solution to the 20-game problem. I think you'll agree that there's much more value in offering solutions than offering problems.

In another post you used a poor-performing salesman as an analogy. As I see it, the decision is to fire or retain the salesman. So let us know what you're decision is and we can all move along.

Nice summary. My answer is that the odds say it's 8 times more likely that the next season is like the ones that didn't give you concern than it us to be like the other one.

Unstated agenda?  That's silly--anyone could be alleged to have an unstated agenda.  I've stated that I'm doubting this coaching staff--but would love to see them right the ship.  I'm pretty good at knowing the goal:  playing to potential.  (which will result in a reasonable amount of wins)  It's not getting anyone fired.

Be more specific on  the problem & solutions?  I keep doing that, uh, stating that.  The problem: about no one who played this year showed All-MAC talent, not consistently.  The roster bios seem to say the talent's there.  But let's see it on the field. Instead, we got Beefs, BG, kents, 4th quarter ECU.

Re the coaching lack, even I'm bored with my re-stating:  two back sets, hurry up offense, jet sweeps, legit wide-side options, more blitzes, try five d-linemen occasionally, etc.  I can't solve the player talent problem.  But accsuing me of not being specific is ignoring what I keep stating..  I'm all about the specific.  Anyone can identify problems or make sweeping statements.  I always back my stuff up with specifics.

Let's get specific.  The post that alleges that we have 6-8 or so guys who'll play in the NFL (an overstatement, of course)..Then tell me why too-much-mediocrity over the last year and a half?

About half of the regulars here refuse to acknowledge the problems of the last season and a half, and how those problems raise significant questions for 2014; hence, my 'get reality' drumbeat.  I'll try to drop it now.

SInce it irks people.  Funny, how I'm the problem.  I thought it was the play we've seen over the last year and a half.

I understand Monroe's frustration and I think it boils down to one thing: MAC titles.

This coaching staff has had one goal for 9 years: win a MAC title. It hasn't delivered and some people are upset and want answers as to why. It has ALWAYS been the goal of this program since the beginning of Frank's tenure.

You know what's been great? Having NFL players, beating Marshall repeatedly, beating Penn State, performing well against OSU, Rutgers and others, All-American lists, All-MAC lists, bowl games and bowl wins.

You know what hasn't been great? After nine seasons, this program hasn't won a MAC title. What's even more puzzling is that Ohio has never lost less than 4 games in a season since Frank has been here (including MAC Champ games and bowl games, not just regular year). They've also only won 10 games once.

And to be honest, I'm not upset about the OOC performances. I think Ohio has generally held their own under Frank, excluding Louisville and OSU the year we didn't almost beat them. It's been the MAC games that provide the most frustration. Mostly games that Ohio is CLEARLY the better team. And more often than not, those games will be at home. Just complete head scratchers.

Do I think Frank or anyone else needs to lose their job? No, absolutely not. But should people like Monroe have the right to question why things are happening? Yes, absolutely. Especially after seeing BUTM on repeat for an entire football season. Football coaches are paid to make changes when things aren't working. BUTM was clearly not working. Make a change.

Next year could be a completely different team and all of this talk will be considered moot. Essentially, I see the 2013 season in two ways:

-It could be the tip of the iceberg leading to futher questions, which given the end of 2012 is a reasonable possibility.

OR

-It could be an outlier season when it comes to statistics. Something just wasn't right ever since 9/1/2013 and the ball was kicked off the tee.

Roger Lewis 1st NFL Catch goes for a TD. I still say losing out on this kid set Ohio Football back a few years Sebastian Smith turned out great but can we get at least 2 legit gamebreakers on offense? These hidden uncovered jewels are awesome and work really hard . But unless this staff starts taking some chances and offering 3/4 star kids get used to what we have done been average.

I mentioned in another thread that according to this very site so far this recruiting season, 47 guys who we have offered have made verbal commitments to P-5 schools. Another 36 who we have offered have P-5 offers. Offering these kids is not the problem, signing them is the problem.

+1 We have to win in the living room

The urban legend I hear is we quietly walked away from Roger Lewis.

Also, My understanding is the urban legend of Grobe landing Antwaan Randl El was more real than Solich and Cardale Jones.

Frank Solich was in Lewis's living room a week before he chose BG. Cardale Jones actually visted Peden with Audray Walker so not sure what urban kegends you heard I was there.

Is it good sign for OUr recruiting when the only bumpo on our recruiting threads is about a guy who used to play for BG?
