He's the only recruit this year that I expect to win a starting job, but any of them could, if they are good enough.

I have an open mind about his chances, but he has never played anywhere close to a Div1 level.

The KJCCC is filled with Division 1 players. Let's look at the top team in the league this year, Garden City, who was 11-0. Here's a list of players recruited to Division 1 in 2017 (using Rivals data):
1. Mike Hughes, CB, 3 stars/5.7, offers from Illinois, S.Carolina, TCU, but must not have qualified as he didn't sign
2. Delshawn Phillips, LB, 3 stars/5.6, signed with Illinois
3. Lonnie Johnson, DB, 3 stars/5.6, signed with Kentucky
4. Gabriel Luyanda, DE, 3 stars/5.6, signed with UCF
5. Dwayne Lawson, QB, 3 stars/5.6, signed with Illinois
6. Jamie Tago, DE, 3 stars/5.5, signed with Hawaii
7. Arlington Hambright, 3 stars/5.7, signed with Oklahoma St

No doubt they had other players on the team who won't be eligible for another year, so they may have had 14 or so players on the team who were Division 1 level players. Other teams in the conference also produce a lot of Division 1 talent. I also checked the 2d place team, Dodge City, and found that 8 players signed this year.

It just so happens that Fort Scott was the worst team in the conference this year, so we really don't have an idea what he can do. He was running for his life in that video, not exactly conducive to impressive numbers. One thing we can be sure of - his blocking at Ohio will be a lot better than what I see in the Fort Scott footage.

Rourke was 12-33 for about 150 yds against Garden City. 0 td, 1 INT and 1 lost fumble.

I am not sure what those stats really mean, but I reiterate he has not played at a very high level.

I wish him success but I think it will take him some time.

Maxwell has a two year head start. Red shirt season and the 2016 season for experience in our program. Maxwell appears to be bigger, stronger and has D1 game experience.

Accuracy will be the question. Rourke was under siege in a good JUCO division and Maxwell has played in 5 or so D1 games. Can Maxwell improve his accuracy? Maxwell is the better athlete and has the better arm, but he has been very erratic at times. Don't sleep on Rourke, he could win the position.

Back to QB a competition that will be sorted about September. Par for the course.

Dec 16, 2016 article, but, might deserve getting bumped for review.

I had MLB dreams growing up. Unfortunately, I lacked MLB talent. Here's hoping Rourke's talents help him realize his dream.
