I knew it, he should have came to Ohio. He could be getting drafted next year, but instead he wanted to go to OSU. Now Urban Meyer is bringing in the best QB in the 2017 class. How does Urban Meyer do it? He gets 5 QB's and we get none. A QB could come here, learn through his mistakes and grow. I know my rant will offend others. sorry. http://sports.yahoo.com/video/ohio-state-lands-top-quarte...

First off the name is Burrow, same as his father who coaches here at OHIO. 2nd, he wasn't ready last year, if you speak with him, he'd even tell you that, his mechanics, his size, release have all benefitted. Not to mention, he's a kid who loves a challenge. With your logic, no team would ever have backups or depth, I can't start as a freshman, I'll go somewhere else.

Martell is also only 5'11", that's quite a handicap when you start throwing over 6'6" linemen. Also keep in mind this is the 3rd school this kid has committed to.

Burrow's (there's your plural....or what) a great coach, though, remember? On a great staff that could coach the younger of the Burrows (plural again) certainly as well as the school up the road an hour or so away.

At OHIO, also, the playing time is more likely and more likely to be appreciated by a long-starved fanbase.

And, if Burrow's got the goods, he'd be found in Athens just as easily as in Columbus.

Are you saying that the staff in Columbus is not aware of the other guy's height and his potential. What?

Please, mymanBilly, do not post in a way that reflects derogatorily on the OHIO.

sorry for pluralizing his name, I know his father is a coach. I am in Asia, so I posted that in the middle of the night, hence the mistake. I hope he beats out Martell, but if he does not, he wasted a lot of time.

People said the same thing when Ohio State got a commitment from Torrance Gibson in the same class as Burrow. Then this past year, they picked up Dwayne Haskins Jr. Yet to this point Burrow is the backup to Barrett and in line to start in a year. A lot can change between now and then, and sure he could have gone to Ohio and probably started from the first day, but I'm pretty sure he's not doubting his decision to go there at this point.

Perhaps allen might better call for Gibson or Haskins to transfer to Ohio. Mr Burrow seems to be doing just fine. Though Toledo's **** Alabama tranfer, Phillip Ely, could not lead them to Monroe's promised land.

Monroe, you have the negative covered.

Regarding his height, we've complained here about 5'10" QB's, they have several limitations to an offense. But at the end of the day, I'm still amazed at the people who want to root against kids.

I am not rooting against him, I just believe Ohio was his best choice. I heard he had a great spring game, but if this new kid who is supposedly the number1 QB, where does that leave him? He could be on the field growing right now.

Dude you know nothing about college football. Martell is AT LEAST 3 years from sniffing the field at OSU.

Wasn't Justin Zwick a more highly touted prospect than Troy Smith? How did that work out for the Buckeyes. Pat Devlin was supposed to be the savior for Penn State and he got beat out by Michael Robinson. Again, that worked out pretty well for PSU.

Sometimes high school ratings mean nothing.

Zwick was the 34th ranked High School football player regardless of position. The #1 pocket passer and the 3rd QB in the nation overall, Vince Young and Marcus Vick were above him, Vick was not good and Zwick saw less time on the field than the athletic training staff. Allen, you are just hating on the kid, and are proving again how little you know about the game.

Not hating, just telling the truth. You are still hurt over me confronting your mediocrity. If he loses the competition next year, than he has blown it. He could be in his third year starting, picking up the leadership skills need to get to the next level and he could give the scouts something to evaluate. He could be Matt Castle and ride the pine and make the NFL, but he will need years to develop to start in the NFL. This is my cost benefit analysis, without the koolaid. I hope he wins the competition.

Martell does not think so and I am sure the coaches did not tell him that being the number 1 QB recruit, no they tell him that he is filling a need. So, dude you don't even know anything about football in my little kid voice. Let's stop with the insults and the childish behavior.

News flash Einstein, ever kid recruited is told they are filling a need and they will play, and the vast majority of those guys believe they are going to the NFL. And what's even better you act like this young man has no guidance, you really think his father who is a career college coach and who played professionally doesn't understand and isn't advising his son??? You from your computer miles away from the family know better????

This is how the conversation went JT Barret will probably leave and you will have a chance to start, we need you. Not the mediocre way of thinking, hey we got a kid that had a good spring game and we owe him the job, so after three years you will play. If the kid ends up being better than Burrow he will play. There will be no, we owe this kid. God bless you

The father would have said play for me at Ohio, he left it up to his kid. If he would say different than he is not trying to win at Ohio. I believe coach Burrow wants to win. I am sure when he goes into living rooms, he is not saying if you want to go pro than don't go to Ohio. So, yes I am on the computer miles away using critical thinking and not being over emotional and mediocre.

No shit, and you automatically just ass ume that this kid is more talented and better. I have some very bad news for you, even if OSU never entered the conversation, Joe would not be in Athens.

I hope he wins the competition. If Ohio were not on the radar than that would be a shame. I will relent because people are getting way too emotional and they are not at their best. He is the one of the coaches son. If his father has stayed at Ohio for as long as he has, he believes Ohio is on the rise and could win with his son, so the thought that his father would say go to OSU, don't come to Ohio is ludicrous. I don't care where he would have been according to you. I care about what he could have done at Ohio, my argument is Ohio was his best choice, not that he can't play at OSU. A lot of kids at Ohio could play and even start at OSU. But, when you think so mediocre, you are unable this. So take what you want to take from this.

A lot of our kids could start at OSU? Really???? Not knocking our kids one bit, but there is one hell of a difference between the two programs right now. There have been teams where I'd agree we'd have guys play, but the past 4 years, NO WAY! Because if a LOT of our guys could start for OSU and we can't even get to a MACC, then we have deep issues.

I can agree with you somewhat here, I think 4 or 5 could have started their last year and a lot could have made the two deep.

They put 12 guys in the draft, give me a good laugh and tell me the 4-5 we'd have start for OSU last year.
