If Monroe were coaching we'd have gone 12 - 0 and smashed someone big time in a BIG bowl game.

I sure hope Irons is the real deal and performs like the all-American he's being made out to be on limited action. If he fails, there will be a lot of crow to eat on here. I remember watching Beau his Jr. Season and thinking he was something fantastic. His performance his last yr. really changed for the worse. I know the off. Line changed as well, but I get the feeling Irons can do it all regardless of how good the line is by what I've read in here for months.

If there was a player I thought was set for 2015 it would have been Jarvion Franklin of Western Michigan, 6'0" 220. His 2014 numbers were 1,500 yds, 25 TDs, 1st Tm MAC, MAC Off POY. Well Fleck finds this new 5'7" 175 RS Fr., Bogan for Franklin to share the load with. Bogan gains 1051 w/16 TDs, Franklin drops to 735 w/5 TDs. Bogan makes 3rd Tm MAC and Franklin Drops from POY to off the MAC Tm. Toledo had two 900 yard rushers,Hunt/Swanson. Buffalo had two 800 yard rushers, Taylor/Johnson.

If there is a point it is that White is like Bogan, perhaps better and is Ohio's most explosive player. White IMHO is the player deserving the most touches.

Good pro-style QB. Would he fit Ohio's offense that has been described as "most effective with a running threat at QB?"

Not sure if he would be a fit at OHIO, but seems as if he would be a fit at BG.

He has one year and BG already has Knapke covering next year.

See where the new coach is coming from and where this kid played last.

Noted. What seemed unlikely, now seems possible. Wonder if Knapke is a graduate yet?

IMO, if he has NFL hopes (and I assume he does) Webb would be better served transferring to a pass-happy mid-level P5 school (Cal, maybe?) than BG. He could put up great numbers in either system, but he will absolutely be knocked for the competition level difference at a MAC school, no matter what his stats are.

No but I would've changed something instead of nothing during ...#deerstuckheadlights... the strings of crashing losses during the last 3.5 years.

How many times do I have to suggest 2-back sets, under-center, overload a sice blitzes, etc, etc, etc, etc.

But you keep on being satisfied with coaching that was state of the art in the '70s.

You're nothing but a broken record. I've suggested to you more than once ... contact Schaus & McDavis and tell them you have all the answers and that you're ready to replace Frank. You can draw up better plays. You can recruit better. And tell them that injuries don't play any role in some lopsided losses we've had. I imagine you've be laughed out of Athens ........

PS Solich coached Nebraska in the 70's???? I'll let the facts speak for themself.

Year Team Overall Conference Standing Bowl/playoffs Coaches# AP°
Nebraska Cornhuskers (Big 12 Conference) (1998–2003)
1998 Nebraska 9–4 5–3 T–2nd (North) L Holiday 20 19
1999 Nebraska 12–1 8–1 1st (North) W Fiesta† 2 3
2000 Nebraska 10–2 6–2 T–1st (North) W Alamo 7 8
2001 Nebraska 11–2 7–1 T–1st (North) L Rose† 7 8

You're the broken record in the face of factual results. Humorous that you bring up 70's results to counter the argument of 70's football.

Answer me this. If Solich was so all-fired terrific at Nebraska, why was he fired?

Explain for me: If Solich was so terrific at a really bigtime program as Nebraska, how come he can't win a title in the lousy MAC?

You've the right to be a broken record. And, I do also. So if you don't want to cede the point or stop posting, fine. But don't tell me to do so.

Especially when the game results facts favor my point of view.

Do you read you own posts? It was YOU who brought up the 70's. From your prior post:

But you keep on being satisfied with coaching that was state of the art in the '70s.

I merely pointed out that you were wrong. Solich coached at Nebraska as HC from '98 to 2003. So where and WHY you allude to '70's results in this post is anyones guess.

As far as why he was fired. He followed the almighty Tom Osborne. Osborne was a "God" out there as coach from 1973-1997.

And since you seem to think you base so much of your analysis based on FACTS .....

Solich's 58 wins during his first six seasons as Nebraska's head coach exceeded those of his predecessors, Bob Devaney (53 wins) and Osborne (55 wins), both of whom are in the College Football Hall of Fame.

So WHY he was fired was because he didn't walk on water.

And why you're so obsessed with the definition of success being a MACC title shows you don't know what all is a part of measuring a successful program.

Your logic regarding Frank is similar to your logic regarding Irons.

Question, who coached Nebraska to their last conference championship? Answer, Coach Frank Solich. They are now on their third coach since.

The transfer better be the real deal because I, personally, don't think the returning QBs can lead us to a MACC.

And, guys, seriously? The gold standard in the MAC or any conference is winning the conference championship. With FS&Co, a guy who won a league Championship and coached in the National championship game, I thought we would have won ONE by year eleven. So, yes, I feel better about the program but I will say it again, I would like to see one more MACC before I leave this earth.

So, now on to your question, what do I like about him. These are things that I see as positives:
1. He has the size. He's not 6'0.5" and 180lbs, which is what Ohio continually recruited under Gdowski. He's 6'3" and 214.
2. He hustles. In fact, he won a hustle award in Basketball
3. He not only doesn't appear afraid to run, when he runs, he looks like he relishes it.
4. He's fast.
5. He has a powerful arm - most of the passes in his highlights were soft passes, but a few he had to throw hard, and he did, and showed he has plenty of arm strength

Now the negative. As you point out, his passing stats were very unimpressive. I tend to disregard that because he played on bad team. On a bad team the blocking won't be good, and that will mean a number of off-balance throws, and those will hurt the stats. It will also mean that the receivers will not get open, and will drop passes when they do get open.

The result was that I decided to treat the stats as meaningless, and trust my eyes on what I saw, and I liked what I saw. Now, over the next year or three I will eventually be proved right, or wrong, so we'll have to see. In the meantime, if you haven't watched the hudl for Maxwell, why not watch it, and keep an open mind. After you watch it, why not report back on what you like and don't like?

Reports from the scrimmage so far seem to confirm that Ohio has a winner here.
