My Buck-wife pointed out that by being dissatisfied with a halftime lead, I've turned to the dark side that I've always held against her peoples.

So I'm gonna try real hard not to be that guy.

Yes, I wanted Ohio to come out of the locker room with their hair on fire, put up a quick 21 unanswered, and give Vick a real good reason to play the whole second half.

I've been afforded the luxury of a sideline pass for BG, so I'll reserve comment on intensity until I get to experience it.

If you don't think they play inspired, emotional football, you didn't see Boykin running people over, EMU getting lit up on blocks, or Donte Foster fighting off defenders to make catches, break tackles, and score TDs.

Your wife is spot-on correct, Pete and, hopefully, she keeps reminding all of us of that.  I'll admit that I was surprised that we didn't open up a bigger lead, earlier, but I will also tell you that I was scared sh&^%$#@ that we had "only" a 24 point lead (38-14) when I finally gave in to Mrs. BCB's pleas to "please go home now".  Such is the life of a Bobcat these days.

Never had that "we're gonna lose" feeling last night.  Carpenter and Keith Moore were all over the field....Branz and Jones et al had decent d-line games....Boykin was well Boykin....and WR Futrell and Foster were fired up for sure.

I was impressed with EMU running game....their offensive line in person looks huge....McKinney had that "we should be up by more" chat at halftime....and we put the pedal to the metal in the second half.

The 45 points aside...I'd like to point out that of the 2 touchdowns allowed last night, 1 was a direct result of a short field turnover.  Lets spend a little energy acknowledging a "compelling" performance by the Bobcat D!

I understand what Monroe's getting at as I thought Ohio performed less than stellar in the first half (Cochran makes that catch in the first half and the game would've been over before halftime) but I think Ohio appeared that way to me for all of the reasons LC said-unfortunately with all the injuries Ohio's seen we have average MAC-level talent playing the rest of the season.  But we came out and really played agreat 2nd half; Ohio hasn't played that well since the Marshall game.  I'll never ever ever ever complain about a 31 point victory over a MAC opponent.

I sure do feel better about our chances against BG.  I think we can win that game; BG's tough but so are we.  Should be a great game.

Plus, the BG game's on the ESPN family of networks and that's what we've been missing since the Penn State game!  Seriously, when was the last time Ohio lost when it was on an ESPN channel?  The EMU game's on ESPN last night and whammo Ohio looks like a juggernaut.  That's what Ohio's problem was from the UMass game until last night-it wasn't on ESPN!

That TD catch and run by Foster was just awesome.  It's really unfortunate to lose Smith, but thankfully Ohio has an embarrassment of riches at WR.

Me neither, in fact just a few minutes into it I was thinking it was going to get out of hand early.  If Ohio hadn't turned it over early on I think, it could have snowballed to a 20 or 30 point halftime lead.

I didn't realize how used to our slow starts I have become until a friend I was watching the game with asked if I was worried while we were up 17-14. I just laughed and told him that this is Frank Solich football. I relate this team to the early 2000's patriots teams. No matter who left or was injured they just fit more people into the system. We have a system now that we can put people into and not miss a beat.

I'd like to give every naysayer on this board a video highlight of the 2002 season.  It'd only be about 23 seconds long, so it wouldn't take much out of your day to watch.

Maybe then you'd realize how far we have come.

I will not apologize for having expectations for this football team.

I lived through the pathetic football played in the 80"s. Hell I travelled with the team in 85 and 86 working the Bobcat Football Network......so I am more then aware from which we came.

Bottom line is.........we are not that team anymore.
We should not be happy being relevant........we should expect more.......we should expect to win.

I can promise you that there has not been a game played this year in which Frank did not expect to win. There is not a thing wrong with that. I want him and the team to feel that way every week......and we as fans should feel the same way. Other than Penn State we have been the favorite in every game we have played and I would expect the same for BGSUcks and BSUcks. We will see how the Kent game sets up.

At the beginning of the year I said my expectation was 10-2 going into the MACC. I expected us to win the MACC and the Bowl game finishing the year 12-2. My expectation remains the same today. The reason, I believe in our Coach, I believe in our Staff, and I believe in everyone of those young men who take the field.

Boykin ran well.  Didn't he have a run of about 50 yards?  And Vick and the back-ups gained about 50 or so on the ground at the very end.  Now, I know that you can't discount Boykin's long run.  But absent that and the scrub time yards, we didn't run that well consistently.

Also, TT must have picked up about 40 or so yards on runs on third downs on what started on passing plays.

Sorry. We didn't run that well.

We lack urgency and emotion--haven't shown much of either over the last five weeks.

Yes, we wore down a pretty lousy EMU starting late--very late--in the third quarter.   Maybe it's okay because of 3 games in 12 days.  But I am not so confident for the upoming games.

Monroe, please check the roster. The athletes out there for Ohio are mostly RS srs/jrs with lots of starts/snaps and now big games behind them.  Excuse them if they stow the emotion and go business like, get er done like vs a 1-7 team.  Urgency was not required.  The older more experienced a team gets the less urgency and emotion we will see. Don't mistake this for lack of focus or that they do not care.

That is a fair comment...and one that may lead me to a better way of approaching this.

At the beginning and the end of the redhawk game, it sure would have been nice to see some emotion and leadership.  The g.f. watched most of the first quarter of the redhawk and commented about how dull and passive we looked.

Yes, I understand that most of the time we are much better off remaining cool and sticking to our script, relying on our talent and preparation.  But there are moments when we must come together.

To me, that was the real problem against redhawk, the real reason that we didn't come thru.  We were flat.

I believe that more rallying spirit would have carried the day against redhawk...in which case I'd not gripe about what I saw last night.

We need to see the more of the joy of the game from our lads.

Monroe: You gotta be dripping w dry caustic humor when you say we didn't establish a running game.

Because more than 300 yards of rushing is well established!

Fine comedy though. ; )

+1.

We've all gone way back...and we've come waaay forward.

I also have hiigh expectations for this team and overall, especially given injuries, they're being met.

8-1 with a good chance if we win out to win the MAC 'ship, play in a bowl game and finish in the Top 25.

If we can stay reasonably healthy, I think the Csts are recharged and starting to find their groove. They will bring A game rest of the season--they learned from Miami.

Monroe, The rah, rah will come from a few. These men, not kids anymore, are attempting to execute at a very high level.  Last week, an emotional week, was not pretty for some of the players who I am sure take great pride in ther personal performances.  I believe most came to this game, with less emotion, to reestablish themselves, for themselves.  Again, more we need to do this and do it right than rah, rah. I trust that they are mentally ready, determined.  Trust coach.

It's clear from this exchange that for some people opinion trumps facts, and nothing has changed in almost three years. The fall of 2015 should be a very interesting time on BA, as every indication of improvement will be debated and challenged even if we start the season with four straight wins. Facts on the field are of secondary concern. What's really important is preceived future performance based on the last 25+ games. For me, OHIO starts 2015 with a clean slate and great possibilities for vast improvement over the last two years. The 2015 team is not likely to resemble the 2014 or 2013 team. There's more maturity, more depth, improvement at key positions (RB, OL, S, CB, etc).and lots of intangibles. MACC here we come! ;-) Go OHIO!

?? Some of us would like to see the cease of the really lousy play predominant over the last 2.5 years, especially from a staff that's been there a long time. Add in that we're in the worst division of the worst D1 conference.

You could call that 'opinion.' But if that's your view of the world, then please, for the safety of the rest of us, do not get behind the wheel of a car because you do see clearly.
