ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio football team has released its 2021 regular season schedule today in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference office.

The Bobcats' 12-game slate features six home games at Peden Stadium -- including four Saturday dates. Homecoming is set for Saturday, October 9, when Ohio plays host to Central Michigan.

2021 OHIO FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Saturday, September 4: vs. Syracuse (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Ohio and Syracuse have not squared off on the gridiron since 1921. The Bobcats will host an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent for the first time when they match up with the Orange in the season opener.

Saturday, September 11: vs. Duquesne (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: The Bobcats and the Dukes are set to meet for the first time since Ohio posted a 14-13 victory in 1948.

Saturday, September 18: at Louisiana (Cajun Field; Lafayette, La.)
Notable: Ohio and Louisiana are set to meet for the fourth time, with the most recent matchup coming on Sept. 21, 2019 in Athens. The Bobcats last visited Lafayette, La., on Sept. 8, 2007, and came away with a 31-23 victory over the Ragin' Cajuns.

Saturday, September 25: at Northwestern (Ryan Field; Evanston, Ill.)
Notable: The Bobcats and Wildcats last faced off on Sept. 20, 2008. Ohio's first game under the leadership of head coach Frank Solich came at Northwestern on Sept. 3, 2005. The Bobcats will be seeking their first win over the Wildcats since the first meeting between the programs on Oct. 6, 1973 – at 14-12 triumph for Ohio.

Saturday, October 2: at Akron (InfoCision Stadium; Akron, Ohio)
Notable: The Bobcats are 22-14-1 all-time against the Zips and have won 13 of the last 16 meetings, including a 24-10 victory in the last meeting between the two teams on Nov. 10, 2020, at Peden Stadium. Ohio last visited InfoCision Stadium on Nov. 26, 2019, and the Bobcats cruised to a 52-3 win over the Zips.

Saturday, October 9: vs. Central Michigan (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Homecoming
Notable: Ohio's last win over Central Michigan came on Nov. 10, 2011 - a 43-28 road victory. The Bobcats have fallen short in their last five matchups against the Chippewas, including a 30-27 setback in the 2020 season opener on Nov. 4, 2020, at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Saturday, October 16: at Buffalo (UB Stadium; Amherst, N.Y.)
Notable: The Bobcats are 9-6 against the Bulls over the last 15 meetings, including a 21-20 win in overtime in the most recent matchup between the two squads on Oct. 5, 2019, at UB Stadium in Amherst, N.Y.

Saturday, October 23: vs. Kent State (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Ohio is 45-25-2 all-time against Kent State, including a 10-5 mark over the last 15 meetings. The Bobcats have earned the upper hand over the Golden Flashes in each of the last six matchups. The most recent meeting between the two programs saw Ohio record a 45-38 win over Kent State on Oct. 19, 2019, at Peden Stadium.

Tuesday, November 2: vs. Miami (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Battle of the Bricks
Notable: The Bobcats will be looking to halt a two-game losing skid to the RedHawks. Ohio's last win over Miami came on Oct. 31, 2018, at Peden Stadium – a 45-28 victory.

Tuesday, November 9: at Eastern Michigan (Rynearson Stadium; Ypsilanti, Mich.)
Notable: Ohio and Eastern Michigan last squared off on Sept. 23, 2017, in Ypsilanti, Mich., which resulted in a 27-20 overtime victory for the Bobcats.

Tuesday, November 16: vs. Toledo (Peden Stadium; Athens, Ohio)
Notable: Ohio has won its last two matchups against Toledo, most recently beating the Rockets at home, 38-10, on Nov. 8, 2017.

Friday, November 26: at Bowling Green (Doyt Perry Stadium; Bowling Green, Ohio)
Notable: The Bobcats have posted five-straight wins over the Falcons, including a 52-10 rout in the most recent matchup on Nov. 28, 2020. Ohio last visited Doyt Perry Stadium on Nov. 19, 2019, a game in which the Bobcats recorded a 66-24 victory over Bowling Green to give Frank Solich his 111th win leading the Green & White, giving him the distinction of winningest head coach in MAC history.

Television platforms, along with game times, will be announced later this spring.

The Bobcats are coming off of a 2020 season that was shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic. Ohio finished the year 2-1, recording a pair of home wins over Mid-American Conference East Division rivals Akron (24-10) and Bowling Green (52-10) at Peden Stadium.

Frank Solich is set to return for his 17th season as Ohio's head coach in 2021. The Bobcats have gone 115-82 during the Solich era, including a 77-46 mark in MAC play. Ohio has captured four MAC East Division titles, made 11 bowl appearances and recorded the first five bowl victories in program history under Solich's watch. Solich is the MAC's all-time winningest head coach and is seven victories away from passing Don Peden (121 wins; 1924-46) as the winningest head coach in Ohio history.

Season ticket renewals will begin March 2. Call the ticket office at 1-800-575-2287 for more information.

At least we do not have Dave Jamerson drafted by the Houston Astros anymore.

Or, and I can't remember the player, but someone with the New York Nicks. I keep thinking Snoopy but he was with the Hawks.

Finally a good schedule of opponents. Good cross over challenges and Syracuse, Northwester and Louisiana will be good tests vs what has been the normal the last several years with usually only one quality opponent.

They asked back in the fall if we wanted this year's season ticket money to go to next years tickets. I assume that those of us that did still need to sign up for season tickets even though they should be (nearly?) paid for?

That is my understanding per tics, though any Bobcat Club donations would still be required if needed for the seats you buy. I am sure they will end up getting a lot of calls to clarify, and anything they typically send out by email, or is on the sites, is typically only just more confusing than clarifying. So - The key is when will they have personnel actually answering the phones???

With this schedule and future schedules, I hope they make a run at stadium expansion. Used to be a hot topic on this board, but folks with vision have left over the years. The East stands are in bad shape, no referb for 40 years, time to tear that down, build a side that matches the tower. If bringing in big names like Syracuse, they will pay that investment off in a season or two.

What grade would you give the IPF, weight room, team meeting rooms ect? If it were me I'd give it a B in those areas. What is the ROI to take facilities to an A level?

Southern Miss has a P5 looking football stadium but a mediocre Conference USA football team. Facilities are a standard deviation type thing where if you don't have anything you're really in trouble but if you're respectable you should be fine.

In the future of course their will be new innovations so why build something now when its going to be bested within 15 years time. Its like waiting until something is broke before remodeling the house.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086
