It sounds like the same players who missed the CMU game will also NOT play in the Akron game...I'd imagine this has to be COVID related? Besides the Danneker injury.

RB Julian Ross
OG Kurt Danneker
WR Jerome Buckner
WR Tyler Walton
DT Kai Caesar
S Alvin Floyd.

So do we think Rogers' passing game struggles are rust-related or is he just limited in that capacity? Rourke's arm looked like the real deal last week. Maybe we can figure out some 2 QB wildcat packages. That could be a lot of fun. Expecting us to clean up the messy play and take out our frustrations from last week on Akron. Heard the 110 will be in Peden along with some of their family members. Hope they can make some noise and make it as fun an atmosphere as possible.

Put me in the group that doesn't want to see 2 QBs on the field at the same time - too gimmicky. It might be a very lonely group of 1 but I've never been a fan.

I agree. Seems silly. However, doing what we can to keep Rogers on the field, a la Phil bates? That might be how to butter the bread

According to Arkley, Solich confirmed that Danneker is injured. The others appear to be covid related, either through testing or contact tracing. If that's the case they should be back for Fiami. We should be good enough to beat Akron without them.

We might see Tuggle bust another KO return vs Akron. WMU averaged 30 yds a return against them last week, second best in the MAC. Ohio had the best average.

Should be able to beat up on the hapless Zips, even without several starters. A three touchdown win, although OUr defense may give up 25 points. Maybe we'll get enough reps on offense to show Rourke can run better and Rogers can pass better.

The interior running game with the RBs will not be nearly as effective this year unless Rourke can run some on these read-options. The best drive for RBs was when Rogers came in and ran for 15 on the initial read-option. All the sudden, the interior running lanes reappeared.

Maybe OUr defense can show some signs of life and make a few splash plays against a team with four redshirt freshman starting on the oline. The DEs looked active against CMU. Last year we were were around 90th in sack and turnover differential, so we really havent done much in this area since 2018.

Is this a probable win? Certainly. Assuming an easy win after last week, though, I'm not comfortable with. Lots of correcting to do. That was a lot of sacks, those were some costly turnovers and the kicking game was abysmal. Those are things that don't flip the field they way they should and could give an underdog short drives, easy scores and early confidence.

There appears to be no changes in the two deep this week which echoes what Frank said in his press conference. Not surprising.

Hope we get everyone else back for the Fiami game. They'll definitely be needed.

The Bobcats opened as 22-point favorites and are now up to 24 1/2.

It's going to be a cakewalk against Akron. Same thing against BG in a few weeks. With all of these games around the nation being cancelled, Ohio is lucky to have both Akron and BG up early. They are both being terrible. Ohio could spot both of them 3 TD's each and would still win easily.

That 24 point spread is just plain crazy.
I can't even remember ever being favored by that many points.
If this wasn't an Ohio game I would take Akron with the points.

We were 27.5 pt favorites vs Akron last year. We won by 49.

This should be a blow-out. Akron had only about 260 yds of total offense last week vs WMU while giving up close to 500 yds, including 218 rushing. They also have a porous kickoff coverage team. This should be a great confidence builder going into Fiami week.

We're not the team we were last year. I see us winning by 16.

It would be nice to get out to an early lead and make this game a no-doubter but it's 2020 so who knows what will happen.

Apparently 24 points were not enough to convince most people to pick Akron because the line is now up to 26.

Best part of this game will be by Wednesday, Ohio may be the best team in the G5 and ready to move up to a better conference.

No game is an easy game in the MAC. I, for damn sure, am not counting this as an auto-win against Akron. Every year, even when I was there, we had a terrible game against the opp we are suppose to beat.

As stated by a previous commenter, we always get hit in the mouth first and then decide to wake up.

I just want a game with no turnovers. Thats all.

I quoted this in another post. I would like to see Armoni line up as a receiver....come in jet motion and take the ball. He has the option to pass or run (wrinkle in some trick plays). I agree get them both on the field for a few series a game.

Point taken, to wit, the the 37 to 34 loss to akron in 2017 when we were 8-2 and favored over akron by as much as 14.5 and at home. That Akron team was clearly better than the 2020 zips but disaster can strike.
