I appreciate Frank's efforts in putting this program where it is. I was was a early to mid 90's OU student who saw massive losing streaks. Tonight just shows me in all phases of the game that it is time to move on and grow something different from here. 50+ years of misery isnt going to be solved with this staff, lets let another find its way.

We have had two transcendent quarterbacks under Frank: TT and Rourke. Both had disappointing senior years. That is on Frank and I feel like he needs to call it quits. Those two are 8 years apart yet same result. Disappointing and underachieving.

Bye Frank...enjoy retirement. Crazy how Rourke looks like an undisciplined true freshman quarterback.

This is a knee-jerk reaction, but:

Yes. Move on. Any other coach can win the same number of MAC Championships. We've have plenty of non-championships under Frank. It's nice that we come close sometimes, but close doesn't count.

This athletic department is poised to win. We need fresh blood. Please Frank... retire.

I think its great that Frank another 100 game winner for the university and number #2 on the all time school list but he needs to go before he's #1 on the all time list (only 11 away) without a conference championship to his credit. You could have argued 8 years ago wait until Frank gets an IPF to help recruiting and then see what he does and that he needed more time to develop the program. Three years ago you could have said he may get the MACC with this air Canada kid and sitting on 88 wins going into 2017 that it made sense for him to retire out with 100.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

I’ll join the chorus.

Frank has been very good for OHIO football, and we haven’t been the laughing stock of the MAC like in the 1970s - 1990s. But the program has reached its limits. It’s time to retire, receive the warm applause of a grateful fan base, and let’s bring in a new leader.

Poor Julie gets to do it. Need to structure an exit.I know it has been tried the past few years but Franks resisted.
In base terms, he is an employee who's team underperformed. Not exactly like Saul but we do need a fresh approach in football. He has had awesome support from everyone.
In my opinion we have fallen to a FCS type team and league. The gulf is widening and becomes more evident each year.

It’s the entire team that looks that way; tolerable when they pull out a win but galling on a night like last night.

This staff used up 10 days to bring us that mess?

I thought this a lot last night. It was pretty crappy football. The MAC has had some great years, and not that long ago...but currently it does not resemble division 1 football in my opinion.

Last year and this year were our chances to finally win a title with no real dominant MAC team out there and we've sh*t the bed with Miami both times and never even got the chance. It is unbelievably frustrating.

I hate to say it, but IMO the lesser leagues like the MAC, Sun Belt, MW, C-USA and portions of the AAC are probably going to be relegated to a mid-tier division at some point. Maybe even rolled into the FCS because as of right now, we'd probably get beat by a North Dakota State or James Madison. And that's fine with me if that means Ohio gets to compete for national championships.

You know what the worst part of last night was? It wasn't losing to Miami. That happens and has happened. We're not having a great year.

The worst part was the fact that ESPN brought that stupid College Football Playoff Championship trophy to the game and put it right on the sideline. I'm all for the 150 year celebration of college football, but to me that's just a slap in the face.

"Look at this trophy! You'll never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever have a chance to play for it! But go college football!"

Sorry for the thread drift, but I'm in agreement with you guys. It's time. THANK YOU FRANK.

Disagree. Seems your opinion is heavily influenced by Ohio's loss. Had we won, would you feel the same way? There was good play last night. Unfortunately, most of it was wearing Red and White: the circus catch in the end zone was top grade. Costin (?) was a force--at any level. The Miami QB (a freshman!) is going to be a force. That kid is good. The announcers said Miami's OL was all young. If so, give them another year and watch out. Miami's RB #1 is damn good.

Yes, I would have...and I thought it going in. For starters, those 2 teams were 0-6 against non-MAC FBS teams. Of course there are some nice plays just as you'd see in a high school game, but I definitely think the gap between the P5 and non-P5 is as wide as I've ever seen it currently. And I think the MAC might be at the bottom of that non-P5 group right now.

I hate to say it, but I think the MAC is trending downward too. We might be seeing some improved play with some teams and/or players in the MAC, but other leagues are improving at a faster pace than the MAC is. I think top to bottom the Sun Belt's much better than the MAC and they're dramatically improving their facilities. Do any us us honestly see a non-Ohio MAC team winning any bowl games for the first time in 3 years this year?

While it’s always been the case, the best MAC coaches get poached. I think this is happening more than ever as the need to win at P-5 programs causes a feeding frenzy over good MAC coaches. The instability at most MAC winning programs to keep their good coaches can’t help the MAC. Head coaches in the MAC are actually leaving for assistant coach jobs because they can make a lot more money doing that. It’s a talent drain that’s hurting the MAC.

It only make sense when you have a 75 year old coach that the Athletic Administration would start to build a exit strategy and succession plan.
It is not an easy thing to do. Frank will be forever part of our history and in our Hall of Fame. I don't want to see him have to deal with another firing ala Nebraska.
Biggest challenge is to get him to buy into the plan. He is a proud man.

Oh, stop, Frank is going to be allowed to go out on his own terms. Was the loss last night disappointing, even heart breaking? Absolutely, but this team has been disappointing since the beginning of the season. As for all the Hype leading into this season, it was just that: Hype. When push has come to shove, neither the Offensive Line of Ohio nor has our Defense been able to deliver in an impressive manner. Frankly, Miami won last night, because they simply wanted it more. Nothing more, nothing less. We will see how the Bobcats respond to all of this. Do they get angry and win out or do they just fold and prove all of us doubters right. Forget the MAC championship, it is obviously not meant to be for whatever reason. However, Ohio teams have always been known for their toughness and fight, so it is time to begin showing some of that. If nothing else for Pride's sake. As for Frank, he was an undersized player in his day, who gave it his all. I just wish we could see some of that from players other than Mr. Rourke. Unfortunately, I am not sure that is something that you can teach.

Robert Fox confirms what I’ve been saying. There are not enough play makers on this team. Another game no fumbles and no interceptions. We choked on every big play.

I seriously would like to know what dirt Frank and his coaches have on some of our beloved BA posters to make them defend him so ardently. We all love Frank, but his clock isn't infinite. And we do have a new AD who may see things differently than the previous regime. Who knows.
