Some of our guys just don't pass the eye test before we take the field. Sucks for Rourke. Dude deserves better.

I look at teams like App State and the SW Louisiana at Lafayette (or whatever) and they seem to be able to find really good talent. We aren't even to close to that in 2019.

To make matters worse, we are @ Buffalo following a bye week to bake on this A$$ Whoppin.

Oh well, at least we are in the doormat of football divisions in the MAC East. Yay!

Well, if the butt whipping/scoreboard didn’t teach you any better, I will: you can just call us daddy.

We lack a leader and any tenacity. Our DBs have good potential, and Hagan is solid. But we need to be better in the trenches first. On both sides of the ball, honestly.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I think Hagan is overrated and will not last long in the NFL. He whiffs on a lot of tackles than most people notice.

I tend to agree, though he is a great Bobcat. Tackling needs some work though.

The offensive line and running game has been the most frustrating this year. Can’t blame the defense much today for this one. Louisiana was handled 7 point with the fumble recovery. They got worn out in the 2nd half.

Where was Ross and Allison today? Injury or coaches decision to not play?

He won’t be drafted, he doesn’t turn any over and he is not great in coverage. He will sign a free agent deal and he needs to play like his hair is on fire.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

We really lack playmakers. LC keeps telling us the recruiting continues to improve. I just don’t see it. We have been manhandled and outrun at just about every position this year.

2nd straight week offense has put Ohio in position to potentially steal a win ... and defense can't get a stop with 7+ minutes left.

Bad day all around ... but the offense found a way to claw back into it cutting it to 31-25. Get a stop and who knows?

Instead defense allows ULL to go right down field and score.

Same thing happened at Marshall. Take 31-27 lead ... Herd go right down field and easily score. Need a stop with 6+ minutes left. Nothing.

This team has a lot to work on ... on both sides. But tackling & coverage are at the top of that list.

And your time of possession jab ... 32-28 ULL. Basically even.

ULL has 16 penalties ... and still wins by 20.

Gross.

As I said earlier ... pivotal game. At UB (2-7 since UB joining MAC ... 4 straight losses) and NIU on deck. Blink and it could be 1-5 and bowl eligibility sadly in jeopardy.

Exactly what I thought about same as Marshall. Both teams had their way with rushing, especially at the end when we needed a stop. And they just ran the same play over and over and over, with no defense from us. Sad. And the same thing with the exact same screen passes over and over and over - successfully.

I had not been a fan of Albin's, but gave him a pass recently because things seemed to improve with play calling, but what a regression yesterday. Maybe it's time for some new blood on the staff.

The Ragin' Cajuns were just flat out better than us, so give them their props. We competed with Marshall, but came up short. Pittsburgh, well, their defensive line was bigger and stronger than us. Consistency, depth, and durability continue to be an issue for us. Good news: the Bobcats didn't stop competing, we have a break now before the beginning of play in the MAC conference, and we have some promising bits and pieces that can be played with in the hope of improving and thus righting this ship again. Will it be enough to successfully compete in the MAC? I guess that we will have to stay tune for that. Clearly, there are no guarantees this year. Let us see how much heart this team has now that the lofty expectations for this season have been seemingly crushed.

+1 We played three quality teams and competed for the most part. This team should be fine in MAC play. Those who had visions of 11-12 wins and challenging the top 25 are disappointed I am sure. But the bottom line the ultimate goal for this team and program begins at Buffalo the first week of October.

The majority of Bobcat fans don't care about the non conference season. A MAC championship is what Bobcat Attackers emphasize and desire. If Ohio is going to be successful in league play, they must stop the run and be able to run the football consistently. If they show improvement and are able to do that, they will have a chance to win the rest of the regular season games.

Four turnovers by the offense and one by special teams led to 21 points for the Cajuns. Defense lost the game in the last 7 minutes? Okay bshot.

Good to see you choose to read what you choose instead of what's actually written.

Where did I say defense lost the game?

SMFH.

"BAD DAY ALL AROUND"

How is that hard to understand.

Did NOT pin loss on defense. Pinned it on everyone.

As good as defense kept team in in in the 1st half only allowing 10 pts ... the offense was equally bad in 1H.

Flipped in 2H. Offense woke up and even with the turnovers ... the defense couldn't get an important stop.

Quit making this personal. It's not. Try to be objective.

This team has problems ... plenty of them. And yes ... tackling and coverage on the defensive side of the ball are a couple big ones.

What part of that isn’t pinning the loss on the defense? Start out with offense putting Ohio in position to win but defense can’t stop em. That’s not pinning the loss on the defense? Bad day all around followed by praising the offense for clawing way back in only to lose because the defense allowed ULL to score. Then you pin the Marshall loss on the defense next. I disagree. The vast majority of students and alumni care about decent showings against "national" teams. The MAC is secondary - very little respect, especially among students, for teams like EMU, NIU, EMU, BG, Kent, Ball State and Akron. Frank in recent years has not had us ready to compete in games against better know programs.

I also disagree with this. Personally, I get more excited by non-conference games than the MAC. Doing poorly in the non conf just sets the table poorly for the future. If Ohio finds some way to win the East and even win the MAC, this very poor performance will make the MAC look even weaker.

It's not a good day for the home team when the biggest cheer from the home crowd is for the head referee.

Late in the first half, after announcing 2 time outs called by "The University of Ohio", the head referee finally got it right on the third time out of the half and a large segment of the home fans gave him the old Bronx Cheer.

Well said. I think the “ only the MAC counts” are small time thinkers and don’t see the big picture. Maybe I feel so strongly about this because I’m not a local. I’d like Ohio to get respect out where I live and they don’t get it winning 6 games against MAC teams.

Having spent thirty-three years in Los Angeles before moving to New Mexico, I saw the 'Cats go from being lucky to have their score for the weekend mentioned in the back page of the sports section of the Los Angeles Times to having intelligent and informed conversations with fellow Gold's Gym members in Pasadena about the MAC due to middle of the week MAC action on television and the arrival of Frank Solich to Ohio. In the three years I have been in New Mexico, I have found this state to be far more passionate about professional football than college football, so I can't quite gauge how much name recognition Ohio has here. That said, it does not hurt to win non-conference games, especially when we pull off an upset here and there. Still, it is time for Ohio to work on a MAC Championship or two. It would be nice if we could do both, but that, for various reasons, seems like a tall order for this program.

Wow, well I agree we definitely need some work on defense (Hagan included) , but didn’t we have around 4-5 turnovers on offense that lead to points? Can defense at least get a breather off the field? We’re 4th and 2 twice, midfield... GO FOR IT!!!!! I think work needs to be done “all around “ I see these young men beating themselves up, more than the fans after a loss... Hell watching the NFL games yesterday, I would say at “EVERY” level they need help in tackling... but they’re making millions.

Where, o' wise one, does it say THESE LOSSES ARE THE DEFENSES FAULT.

Fact. The offense scored in the fourth quarter to either give Ohio the lead or bring them within one score of the lead with 6+ minutes left.

Fact. The defense was unable to come up with a key stop in those key moments to give Ohio's offense and a chance to win the game in the final possession.

Neither of those put full blame on the defense for losing those games.

The offense is just as much to blame as special teams (muffed punts) and the defense for the 1-3 start.

You have a personal tie to the defense. I get it. We all get it at this point. And yes, you were critical of the tackling ... as we all were ... after that Marshall loss.

But you read my posts with blinders on thinking I'm only out to pin all losses on the defense.

BREAKING NEWS: I'm not.

Okay. Cool. Hook 'Em 🤘

As for me personally, I would like to win them all, but realize that is not going to happen. However, I would prefer to go 10-2 and if the Bobcats ended up with only one loss in league play and didn't win the MAC East, so be it. Ten victories are extremely difficult to achieve. Over the years, many posters on this website have stressed that a league title is the most important objective. It isn't for me, but it sure is for a lot of folks. If this team can get to the MAC championship game and win it, then most fans will forget the early losses in September.
