Getting ready to head to my NC beaches...but before I go doing a fave pastime...watching Bobcat TV videos. Not sure if any of these guys will even lose their redshirt...but if they do I think they could be impact players....no certain order of importance...except the first one.

Denzel Daxson-DT-6’2”-335

Crossing fingers and toes that he shows up healthy and eligible. We have decent returnees at DT....but this guy looks like double team material.

Kurtis Rourke-QB-6’3”-200

Looks to be a better passer than his brother. After spring drills he may be QB number 2. Maybe the reason the Ft. Wayne kid went from QB to WR.

Walter Wilborn-RB-5’10”-215

Probably 3rd best running back on the roster...but maybe only because of inexperience. We all know what can happen to RBs...what was AJ....5th team?

Gary Hoover-OL-6’4”-325

Had trouble with this one since I think we have at least 3 new OL guys who might contribute. Gary as a JUCO is older and plays the left side where we need help.

DeMontre Tuggle-RB-5’9”-185

I hesitated to pick another RB but it’s the position I worry the most about because of possible injury. He’s a scat back who looks to be a decent receiver.

We do Kure Beach and Fort Fisher just south of Wilmington. Always do a day trip to this place. Lots of movies have been filmed there.

All those are great places! I’ve stayed at Fort Fisher and our favorite is Wrightsville Beach where we always stay at the Sandpeddler Inn. We hit that a few times each year.

Re: Mr Hoover. Seems #60 was trying out on the left side with #61 at LG. That would settle the left side. Only spot without a player with several starts is RT.

We like to get a house right on the ocean with a nice big kitchen. There's a couple of really good fish markets nearby. The other nice part is that there aren't any crowds. I remember the first time we went to the Jersey Shore. Crowds and you had to buy a beach badge. Talk about culture shock.

I'd be more than happy to be part of an out of state focus group. Asheville in the west, the bsach on the east and a boat load of good stuff in between.

I agree with you on Daxson. On the running backs, they all look like they can play. How they will end up ranked at the end of Fall camp, I have no idea. As for Hoover, you don't recruit a JUCO lineman unless you think he can play right away. Where he will end up, I can't guess.

The other position where we might see an incoming recruit is at TE.

With the 4 game rule for Freshmen I expect to see Blauser and the tight end from Phoenix play all 4 games. Also both new running backs will see action.
Based on any injuries all of them may step up.

I'm expecting Daxson to not be redshirted and be the starter before the season is over, maybe by mid season. Just a hunch!

I would love for Daxon, Wilborn and Hoover to to step into major roles. It would mean we might never see what Daxon and Wilborn would be as RS Sr. athletes. Still if they are able to jump past roster players expected to contribute Ohio would skip rebuilding to reloading. Sure would be nice.

Does Hoover have 3 to play 2, or will be come in as a redshirt Junior?

As for the Freshmen, I would guess we'll see a number of them play in a few games, but how many play more than 4, we shall see.

Ohio will be "all in" until a MACC is achieved.

How do you guys feel about the incoming freshman OL with Amburgey, Hoover, Atkinson, etc.? I got to watch Amburgey play in HS and he was pretty dominant. I heard he’s at 6’5 310

The short answer is that we really never know, and that seems to be especially true of linemen.

Let's go back to the 2017 class. The highest rated offensive lineman in the class, the one we all thought might start, was Tusha, and he never played, and left the program. Meanwhile, the offensive lineman that no one noticed, the lowest rated player in the 2017 class according to 247Sports, was Hagen Meservy. He became a starter as a True Freshman, and is projected to start this fall. So... we watch the film, and we guess which players will be stars...and we are often wrong.

Finishing up our stay at The Sandpeddler....wife just loved it...a condo hotel is a great concept....yesterday a little bittersweet at Topsail Island as we spread my wife’s mom’s ashes into the Atlantic Ocean.

That’s true. All in all I think we got a solid group of offensive linemen coming in

I think so. I'm hoping they turn out like the 2014 class, which included Lowery, McCray, and Preuhs. If it runs like normal, who knows, the star of the class may end up being Oakes or Vannest, the two who got the least attention.
