Thank you!

Edit - I just added Riley Neal, who did transfer, in as well:
Completion percentage by year:
Jackson: 53.1%, 60.3%, 55.3% [55.8% career]
Rourke: 55.1%, 60.0% [57.5% career]
Neal: 58.3%, 61.4%, 67.7% (part year), 57.9% [60.0% career]
Roethlisberger - college: 63.3%, 63.3%, 69.1% [65.5% career]

Pass Efficiency by year:
Jackson: 104.7, 148.8, 136.7 [129.3 career]
Rourke: 132.9, 156.0 [144.1 career]
Neal: 117.6, 120.4, 137.5 (part year), 114.4 [119.3 career]
Roethlisberger: 146.5, 138.7, 165.8 [151.3 career]

QBR by year:
Jackson: 28.8, 69.6, 74.9
Rourke: 73.5, 77.7
Neal: 48.2, 50.2, 70.0 (short year), 62.3
Roethlisberger: NA (stat had not yet been invented)

TD/Interception Ratio by year:
Jackson: 1, 4, 2.3 [2.0 career]
Rourke: 2.4, 2.9 [2.7 career]
Neal: 2.7, 1.1, 2 (short year), 2.8 [1.8 career]
Roethlisberger: 1.9, 2, 3.7 [2.5 career]

Jackson improved a lot from his first year to his second, but his year year was down by most of the above measures. Rourke improved a lot from his first year to his second. What will his third year bring? Neal was below both Jackson and Rourke in most measures, but he had a good year in 2017, though the year was shortened with injury. Roethlisberger was ahead of all these.

For what it's worth, nfldraftscout rates Jackson as QB #15 next year, Neal as #17, and Rourke at #30.

I can't wait to see what Neal does as a Commodore. With Kyle Shurmur gone he has a great chance to take that QB spot. My old WRs coach Mason must be thrilled to have an experienced QB come in. Although they lost a thriller last night....Neal should boost them for 2019.

Miami Hurricanes will definitely go after him.
Especially after the AD Blake promised that Miami will be in the ACC championship next year following their blowout loss to Wisconsin.

https://www.stateoftheu.com/2018/12/28/18158599/miami-hur...

NIU messageboard sees this as a new trend and doesn't like it. They seem to believe a redshirt year gives Power 5 teams the ability to come steal guys from the G5.

https://csnbbs.com/thread-867104.html

4 schools that should go after him (I laughed at the #1 school)...you will too. The #4 school makes sense since it is his home state.

I don't know that there is the same talk about Rourke as an NFL prospect either. However, Rourke did improve his accuracy a decent amount from year 1 to year 2. If he can get to 65-67% next year, that would be another nice bump. and the 3 year average doesn't mean as much.

Rourke definitely has his eyes on the NFL and if he improves his accuracy, he will definitely move up, he was 22 before. I imagine with AJ and Irons leaving, Rourke will probably have more opportunities to throw.

Looks like Buffalo WR KJ Osborn is likely leaving UB now too. Talk about two huge blows to UB.

Agreed. At least balanced. However, the protection without; 65, 63, 57, 83 and 45 Rourke will have at least .5 to 1 full second less of protection on those extra opportunities to throw. Increasing his percentage without #4 will be a challenge. Thankfully he will have the benefit of coaches Albin, Isphording and Dixon's WRs so I am thinking Rourke will still improve statistically. Though. less downfield, more quick reads.

And so, what initially seemed like a good thing may come back to bite. Ohio has has some good players transfer to Ohio under that rule, and now the MAC is seeing some of it's best players leaving. So, is the future for players not good enough to earn PT at the P5 level moving down to the MAC, and players who think they are "too good" for the MAC moving up to P5?

I guess what it does mean is that teams at all levels have an extra motivation to treat their players right, coaching them up, and helping them be the best they can be, and treating them fairly, so that they have no need to transfer. They also have a motivation to give them access to excellent graduate level programs, so that they can further their education.

And less likely to redshirt players and more likely to discourage them from taking summer classes for extra credit toward an early undergrad degree.

Are you freaking kidding me? I would take Rourke over him 10 times out of 10. I would have taken Jordan Lynch 10 times out of 10 over him. Jackson doesn't even register on my top 15 QBs of the past 20 years radar in the MAC. Give me a break. This will be a Jaaron Simmons implosion like no other.

Jaaron Simmons played on an NCAA championship runner up. Jackson has the opportunity to possibly play for a school that at least has a pathway to the CFP. Terrible decision making.

Are you serious? The team he's on will be on a pathway to the CFP? The team he played on this year couldn't even beat Ohio University or a bowl game. Whatever team he chooses will be 7-5 and his draft stock will plummet. He would be better off coming out this year. Joe Burrow had a good year at LSU but they barely beat a UCF team without a QB who was better than him before injury. And Jaaron averaged 1 minute per game while riding coach on that gravy train which led to him playing Y ball in Ypsilanti.

If you read Excatís link, it lists out schools where he could land. That was my implication. Becoming a starting QB at a P5 is a bigger stage than the MAC. Not to go back down the path Simmons took, I doubt he has second thoughts. Iíll repeat, he played on the NCAA runner up. As far as Burrow, Iím not understanding the point you are attempting to make there.

Simmons and Jackson situations are like night and day. Simmons was NEVER a legitimate NBA caliber player he was a very good MAC Point Guard at times the best but Jackson will actually will be in the NFL at some point off of potential alone even if he stays at UB.

He was a preferred walk-on but it can't be good for the depth of the position.

Lake Erie College is an absolute hole when it comes to football. Maybe the worse DII program in the entire Midwest.

I hope he does well. Maybe his line of thought is to ride the wave while his name is hot. Mechanics from pro perspective will be better than collegiate level. Definitely a Day 2 steal. And with a good combine (accurate route running with Anthony Johnson as his receiver at that pro day) will boost his status.

I'm well aware, as I went to highschool just down the road and a number of the guys went to play football there. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that with two guys leaving (one being the starter)the QB room is going to be a bit thin. They have 3 guys returning, two current sophomores and a freshman. According to 247 sports they aren't getting any this recruiting cycle

Recruiting is not over for the year. Only the early signing period is over, and Buffalo only signed 14. I'm sure they will sign more players on Feb. 6th.

I'm guessing that there is some confidence in the coaches about the guys currently on the squad. Jackson would only have one year left of eligibility even if he returned, so if the coaches were in need of a QB, they would've recruited one with or without Jackson next year.

Dominic Johnson has gained notoriety by being on both the football and basketball teams. He may not be on the team this year, but he was last year when the team went to the tournament.

Kyle Vantrease, also a sophomore, was a 3-star recruit with an offer from Cincinnati, among others. My guess is that he will be the starter next year.

Maybe Buffalo will do OHIO a favor and fold for next season since they have no QB. We always play so well there.
