This looks to be a decent recruiting class.

A 5 win season could change that.

A guy who I have said for the last year would be perfect for OU: Tom Arth of Chattanooga. Already showing promising signs and off to a 3-0 start in his 2nd year after 4 successful years at John Carroll. Ohio native with ties to NE Ohio and Western PA. Definitely someone I think we can go get.

In case you were wondering if I were bs'ing or not if I have said that before. Page 2 of this thread you'll find my war and peace discussion.....

Found this interesting

Teams over .500 overall in MAC East in Solich era (excluding Ohio)

2005 - 3
2006 - 0*
2007 - 1
2008 - 1
2009 - 2*
2010 - 2
2011 - 1*
2012 - 2
2013 - 2
2014 - 1
2015 - 2
2016 - 0*
2017 - 0
*Ohio won MAC East

To no surprise, the MAC East is one of the worst divisions in CFB year in and year out. Ohio has had 9 winning seasons in Solich era. In 5 of those, the MAC East had three teams finish with a winning record (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015)

As you see, only once did Ohio win the league in those years (2009)

Ohio's other three division titles came during pretty down years for the division.

Twice they were the only team with a winning record and the one other time they were one of two teams with winning record.

Bottom line ... Ohio doesn't tend to win East when it's competitive

Looks like Buffalo, Akron and Miami all could challenge for winning records this year.

Ohio will have it's work cut out for them to win the division especially if those teams end up pretty good based on historical trends.

Therefore, I believe it is time to consider having Solich retire, along with the fact that interest in the program is waning.

Lol please explain how you plan to “have Solich retire”.

You act like this is hard to do. Based on what I've gathered that equation will get a lot easier with a new CFO coming in and adding to the bureaucracy. From what I have heard, this was not an athletics dept. hire, it was a university hire. Assuming that the university wants to step in on athletics, they're going to turn screws on revenue and at some point here in the next couple years, someone is going to want to change the scenery to see if that spices up finances. With that being said, either Schaus becomes a puppet for them since the Saul Phillips hire is not going as planned and could potentially not trust him to make the next hire depending on which donors get in the president's ears. If the wrong one gets in there and convinces them athletics has a problem, changes can happen in a hurry. Not only that, with our president wanting to do this not even a year into his tenure, it's obvious he wants athletics to begin cutting back on spending.

Where in there did you explain how you would have him retire? If you are talking about him being fired, why don’t you just say that instead of “having him retire? Like someone’s going to talk him into it.

There isn’t a firing there. I think what it will come down to is ultimately the university will try to force Solich into more “money” games on the road where we make more money, along with auditing the heck out of Schaus. At that point, they will force Schaus out and make to the point where Solich sits there and is forced to retire.

And you ask how Schaus is out, it’ll come down to a poor football season and ultimately basketball struggling mightily.

I just think you are reaching to assume Solich will retire. Forcing him into more money games? The schedule is set for the next few years. When do you see his coerced retirement taking place? 2022?

Just because a schedule is "set" doesn't mean it can't change on a dime. Schools can change them very easily for a variety of reasons and getting rid of an FCS school for a road FBS game if negotiated right is easier than heck.

Quite frankly I'm tired of having to argue with you on this matter. As I have told you multiple times, revenue is down, university is beginning to interfere in athletics, and could very easily get rid of Schaus due to Saul and if football revs continue to tank, which changes the dynamics on Solich and he walks away from the table. I have answered your question in more than one ways and you're acting like a Toledoan who will argue til they're blue in the face when given the concept. If you want to continue arguing, go pound sand. Thank you.

Lol you seem to like arguing too. It’s not my fault your argument doesn’t hold water. Just because it makes sense to you doesn’t make it an intelligent thought.

Again, I had high hopes for this team. Thought this one would break the streak. Dunno why I had the thought but oh I did....

We're gonna get ripped up something fierce this year in the MAC and if you look at what I had said on facts and insiders telling me this stuff along with my past experience in there, it ain't a good equation for Solich at all. You can interpret things how you want, but right now that's where my line of thinking is going.

I hear you, believe me. But no one is going to force him out after what he’s accomplished. At the price he has accomplished it at, unless things get really bad. Which they haven’t yet.

I think that we are hyping up his accomplishments. I like FS, but he is way to loyal to his assistants. His loyalty has probably cost us three MAC championships.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes

I don’t know how many would agree with you on that. But I don’t.
