anorris. He still works at ESPN. He hasn't posted here it seems in about a year and a half. Not sure the reason why. I'm not sure if he works in a department that he would be able to answer exactly which MAC content will be on ESPN+ and what will be on ESPN3 but you could try messaging him.

Yes, that's the guy -- anorris -- wish he'd post again. He always had great insights in the mysterious working the "Worldwide leader . . ."

Funny. I asked anorris if there was going any new major technology roll outs at the UMass game last September. He said ESPN is always rolling out new stuff but wouldn't talk specifics. It could be he knew something back in September that most of us didn't know until now.

With no inside information whatsoever, I'm guessing there will be enough Ohio/MAC sports on both ESPN3 & ESPN+ that I'll want both. They're doing this for another revenue stream and they'll have to put some on each to make people want them both. So I'm thinking they'll figure out how to make both necessary and get a lot of us to sign up.

Budget the 60/year.

I pay for the "insider" stuff online. Hopefully there's a package in there for me somewhere....

It seems that Florida Gulf Coast vs. North Florida women's tennis is the only college broadcast on ESPN+ today. There's 3 NCAA baseball games tomorrow and a women's lacrosse match (Central Michigan plays). Four baseball games, seven lacrosse matches, seven softball games Saturday.

I guess ESPN is skipping the Ocho.

I'm at UNF and my students produced today's tennis event, the first live content on ESPN+. They shouldn't of, but they did and they did well in spite of the circumstances that led to this match being on ESPN+.

When I returned home from BEA/NAB yesterday this event was supposed to be a Facebook live practice run to prepare to do the ASUN conference finals on Sunday 4/22 on ESPN+ or 3/Ocho. When ESPN says jump the ASUN and most non-p5's says how high... and all of a sudden this is an ESPN+ priority event.

At 4pm on Thursday's many students at UNF have class, as do I. Tennis anyone?

I was working with students producing our monthly news magazine for airing on the JAX CW affiliate with three of the top students who would normally be at an ESPN3 event in the class working on the show. It's the capstone and they hope to graduate in two weeks so they needed to be there.

FYI, ESPN doesn't have an airworthy graphics project for tennis... it's a beta being sorted out in the ACC. It was like downloading software on Napster. It's the last week of the conference regular season schedule in tennis. What a joke. I'm sure it will be ready for the SEC Network and ESPNU's coverage of the NCAA finals.

I was on a panel with folks for Ball State and Toledo in Vegas. I know that ESPN+ is going to hurt the ASUN viewership numbers and they were feeling similar thoughts about the MAC. At least the MAC has the linear network weekday football fest in the fall. It's great to have the technology in the hands of students, and all of these events streaming for alums in particular, but the non-P5's are nothing more than a mass scaling revenue opportunity for ESPN to bank on and now there throwing in a paywall.

Schools only get 3 minutes of commercial inventory per game and with conferences and schools wanting to run their promo ads that leaves 90 seconds for a school to sell. Beyond what the conferences get, it just doesn't allow for any individual school revenue of note.

If I wasn't helping provide student support through academics to produce what is now approaching 60 events this year, UNF Athletics would be losing money on this endeavor when you factor in equipment purchases and maintenance.

I'll be interested to follow this thread to see how ESPN+ impacts how you all consume sports content going forward.

Looks like Ohio's Oct. 6 game at Kent State is scheduled to be on ESPN+.

Disney will have to divest the 22 regional sports networks as a condition of DOJ approval of the Fox merger.

I think that was anticipated, but at least we now know the RSNs won't be part of ESPN+.

Ohio vs Howard
Ohio at Kent

Both on ESPN+ .... and yes, you will have to fork out the $4.99 per month no matter what internet/cable subscription you have.

ESPN is THE WORST ... and the MAC is right behind them in the competition.

ESPN basically stripped down their ESPN3 content and placed nearly everything worth a damn on ESPN+ and are charging for it .... and of course, the MAC being ESPN's b**ch followed suit and now have a ton of their content on ESPN+ (MAC Baseball Tournament) I'm assuming there will be a lot of MAC Basketball games on ESPN+ too this year.

Freakin' joke.

I cancelled my season tickets and have been bombarded with OU ticket office folks desperately trying to get me to buy them again. I flat out told them ... get off these weekday schedules and I'll buy 100 season tickets, but there is no way to justify spending money on season tickets when I'll be able to go to 2 games this season (I'm out of town unfortunately for homecoming ... and cannot make that drive during weeknight games)

Got a letter from OU acknowledging the weeknight fiasco and the abundance of it this year vs. previous years. It's nice they notice it ... but their reaction to it has been nothing more than acknowledgement.

Why not offer a Saturday-Only Home Game Season Ticket package? Buy the three Saturday home games and pay $75? It'd be a nice commitment to the fan base that they still care and want them there for Saturday games, knowing it's tough for out-of-towners to get their midweek.

I'd be more willing to do that than commit to 6 homes games .... where I can't attend over half of them. Just a thought?

Seems reasonable to me.
