Seriously? We are struggling to complete 50% of our passes. In 1962 that was considered a great percentage. In 1962, you also had more hair.

I get a real kick out of playing straight man to your weird jokes. Perhaps, you could put me on retainer. My rates are very reasonable.

Would you guys please stop!!!! You are showing your severe ignorance of skill and ability. Absolutely nothing against Rourke, just like Haskins beating out Joe is nothing against Joe. But the physical skill set and intangibles are not even close here.

So last spring he was called out as a possible diamond in the rough (by one guy) - and then lost the back-up job - falling to 3rd string.

And is considered the #17 QB by oner source - yea, that often gets played into an NFL job . Here is another take: http://www.walterfootball.com/draft2018QB.php .

Though Sunday's is a reach he still has time to be a fine college player though - and I wish him luck.

One reason I don't see him coming back to Athens is the continued local fawning. There are a ton of great, I mean really great HS athletes that simply don't excel at the net level - it's ok.

He is not in the 2018 draft class. Burrow can play, he has all of the tools. Haskins is the best QB prospect on Ohio State roster. Burrow was 2A until he broke his hand.

A lot of players "have the tools" - but few put everything together. The Walter list is for all those that are eligible to declare if they would choose to - JB is eligible - if he were to choose to. Understandably he is not ranked in the top 30 of the list - and that's ok. Athens HS is behind him - he's moved on - and others should as well.

Have you ever seen him play? or is your opinion solely based on the fact he did not come to OHIO and has so far only been the backup at one of the top programs in the nation? Lots of angry hate coming at kids, his numbers will speak for themselves when he's done playing at where ever he chooses. I'm willing to be he accomplishes a whole lot more than you accomplished in the sport.

No - never saw him play in HS - nor is his prowess against Chillicothe or Jackson relevant re: his NFL tools. Yup, he will accomplish more in the sport than either of us - already has - that doesn't mean NFL. And yes, going through his career as a backup at a major program is not a "failure" nor do I see it as such.

Also never wanted him to come to Ohio - felt he needed to get away from the fish bowl. As I have stated multiple times in the past, have no anger or hatrid towards the kid, just don't see him rising to NFL status - and I know from the past that when such an opinion is given, you and others act like I (or others) have just strangled a puppy in front of your eyes. My opinion is not a knock on him as a person. Hell, he is articulate, smart, polished. May have better chance of being US Senator than NFL QB.

But people need to stop treating him and perceiving him as the "all that" player. Move on from the Glory Years...he has.

Again, strong opinions for someone you’ve never seen play, workout or throw a football. Never knew you were such a talent scout. I’m surprised Brinker has not hired you yet as a special assistant.

Phil Bates didn't have a stellar college career, but still ended up in the NFL.

I thinking it is me - I had the audacity to suggest young Burrow has what it takes to be a political leader in our country. I guess that is an insult these days and doesn't jive with the dreams of others.

As I have stated I wish the young man success. And I hope it happens soon. He must be exhausted carrying others and their dreams on his back - lol

Which leads back to the other arguement, that is, why would he ever come to Ohio at all if he has superior talent. First off, I think he'd be crazy to leave Ohio State for Ohio. If he ever did chose to leave OSU, he'd have opportunities to play at a lot of better programs. Like the Buckeyes or not, he's part of one of the most storied programs in all of college football. They contend for national titles, they play on national tv, they play in front of 100,000 fans at home, they are almost every team's biggest home game when OSU is on the road, they travel in style, etc. So he'd come to Ohio to play for what, a MAC Championship??? Whoopty-f'in-do. To play on ESPN3, to play on Tuesday nights, to play in front of 15,000-20,000 at home and about 4,000-5,000 actual on the road at some places, to play crappy non-conference schedules, and to bus all over the Midwest for road games? I mean come on. He'll challenge for the #1 spot next year at OSU and if he's beat out he's one injury away from behind the starter. At OHIO STATE. So leave OSU for OU based on all of that? No GD way...

But second, I get tired of talking about players from other schools we want to see at Ohio (see the Malik Zaire saga from last year) over the ones who are actually AT Ohio. Rourke is a Bobcat, Burrow is a Buckeye, and I don't give a damn about OSU players. There's millions of other so-called Ohio State fans out there who can do it, so let's them discuss them. I'll talk about Bobcats.

The same reason why Big Ben went to Miami. Ben wanted to make a name for his self. His father coaches at Ohio and he retweeted two bobcats getting drafted. He doesn't think that we are mediocre. Point blank, he took no snow balls to the dome and he only cleaned his room. He is a man's man, who can lead like Chad Pennington, Byron Leftwich and Big Ben and he can drafted, like Fisher being the number 1 pick and Corey Davis going number 5. Big Ben went 12th.

The kid is staying, I can guarantee it. If you've ever read any interviews he's done, you can tell he is committed to the evil empire. He believes he can win the starting job. I honestly don't think he ever even sniffed the idea of playing here. As a kid who grew up in Athens, I believe he wanted out of southeastern Ohio and that getting out of Athens was one of his main goals.

I thought the Jaaron Simmons thread in the hoops section had reached the inane stage; this one’s getting close. Amazing how two people who aren’t students at Ohio elicit such emotion and debate involving Ohio sports. I’d respond with who cares about either of these athletes except that would probably result in a 10 page thread. ;)

It’s like what a prior poster said-I’d rather focus my attention on the athletes that DO play for Ohio.

Who is Jaaron Simmons?
As for this thread, are you saying that its not the random musings of people who are blitzed on Jim Beam and thought they were on AthensBulldogAttack.com??

He may or he may not, the speculation of him transferring is what we are talking about. I can take the shots. I will always believe that we can be excellent, no matter how many stones the medi's throw.

I just received word today from an insider at OSU that he will be transferring. OSU will be getting a commitment from Matt Baldwin (former 3-star recruit from Colorado State) and awaiting Emory Jones (5-star recruit). Word on the streets is that Burrows will wait to see who becomes Nebraska's head coach with a possibility of going to Texas if Frost is not hired. Doesn't seem like OU is in the running. But you never know. I believe he has one year remaining if he goes D1, two years remaining if he goes D2. My insider was not happy and stated a bunch of others think he is starting material minus hand injury. Haskins has surpassed him and taken his reps.

Allen ... name me one QB that has transferred INTO the MAC that has gone on to the NFL?

Roethlisberger
Batch
Leftwich
Pennington
LeFevour
Rush
Dysert
Wenning
Harnish
Lynch
Davis Bros
Edelman
Jacobs
Frye
Harris

All those guys did NOT transfer into the MAC. They were either 3 or 4 year guys at their schools.

You DO NOT transfer into the MAC if you're a really good QB ... you go to a big school where you'll get noticed.

So please ... stop acting like Ohio is a destination for star transfers. Especially at a position where we actually have stability for the next couple years. Rourke is more than adequate to play QB in the MAC and run this program. If anything, it's the coaching staff that will hold him back (and everyone else in their path)
