I feel like this is a more appropriate spot for TOS talk, especially when he is ready to make the jump to college football. So far the following jobs are open:

UTEP
Georgia Southern
Kent State
South Alabama
Oregon
UL-Lafayette
SMU

Of the jobs that opened, TOS did not land the following jobs even though the Bobcat Attack Flight Tracker had flights consistently leaving Rhode Island for the following destinations:
UCLA.........TAKEN: By Chip Kelly
Florida.........TAKEN: By Dan Mullen
Ole Miss.........TAKEN: By Matt Luke.....TOS's flight tracker did not end up in Oxford, MS.
Mississippi State........TAKEN: By Joe Moorhead
Oregon State........TAKEN: By Jonathan Smith
Texas A&M........TAKEN: By Jimbo Fisher
Nebraska........TAKEN: By Scott Frost
Arizona State........TAKEN: By Herm Edwards
Florida State.........TAKEN: By Willie Taggart
UCF.........TAKEN: By Josh Heupel
Rice........TAKEN: By Mike Bloomgren
Arkansas........TAKEN: By Chad Morris
Tennessee........TAKEN: By Jeremy Pruitt

This is being updated by the day here. As jobs get posted for TOS to apply to, please respond below.

Sometime in the next couple weeks I think you will be able to add Nebraska to that list. He's up to #1 on this list:
http://www.coacheshotseat.com /

The MAC coaches in the top group include:
#12. Paul Haynes
#19. Mike Neu
#20. Lance Leipold
#27. Mike Jinks

I'm not surprised to see Haynes, Neu, and Jinks on that list, but with as much as Buffalo has improved this year, can Leipold's seat be that hot?

That site has some interesting things to say about the Jones firing, too, but I won't repeat them here.

Crazy as it sounds, sounds like the SEC could have two more jobs open before the end of the season.

I definitely can see some shakeup yet in the SEC by the end of this season:

-Arkansas-most likely
-Texas A&M-close second
-Vanderbilt-possible, but not likely

-If they can get the package together I think Bielema will be out the door at Arkansas

-Sumlin at Texas A&M has been pretty underwhelming during his time. Not many signature wins since Johnny Football has left town.

-Vandy may or may not cut ties with Mason. His seat was kind of warm last year until a late season surge to bowl eligibility. A loss to Tennessee to close the year could push it over the edge. Don't know the financials/contract etc. there.

A story in the Buffalo News a last week examined the situation up there. http://buffalonews.com/2017/11/07/bucky-gleason-ubs-progr... /

Basically, some aren't impressed with his 11-23, 6-16 record. But the AD seems to be willing to look at the small victories: a bunch of close losses, a good APR. And they're building a new facility up there. Leipold probably has this year and next. After that...

I would be tempted to keep Jinks and more likely Leipold if I were an AD. I see some promise for both these guys.Haynes and Neu, nothing to see there.

I don't see Neu going yet. They were looking decent before they lost their 1st, 2nd and 3rd string quarterbacks.

With Long out as AD at Arkansas, Bielema won't be far behind.

From everything I heard, it was going to be coach gone first, no idea the AD was going on that one. Jeff Long was definitely highly regarded in the industry but then again, the Arkansas brass didn't have faith in his choices.

ASU was my dream school. In a few years for graduate school I hope to be somewhere in Tempe basking in the sun drinking tequila sunrises.
Completely irrelevant, but anyways I’m a YYYUGE ASU football fan. Graham has 6 wins this season so they’ll play in Vegas or Phoenix for a bowl game, and they upset #5 Washington. A few weeks earlier they “upset” a VERY overrated Oregon team. His buyout is some ridiculous 11 million-ish. They just bled their boosters dry by pumping millions into Sun Devil stadium renovations and they have one of the nicest student athlete facilities in the country now. Graham will be there at least another year in my opinion. If they get blown out by UofA on Friday I would say it’s possible he’s fired but really unlikely, although this could be their 3rd season in a row with a losing record.

If you’ve never heard the story about how Todd Graham left Pitt do yourself a favor and look that up. He’s a piece of work, to say the least.

Trust me, I interned at Arizona State the same time he took the job out there. He fit in just fine with how they operated in Tempe. Well aware of how he left Pitt.....

Jon Gruden to Tennessee. That's what the announcers on the LSU (beaten by Troy)-Tennessee game were saying. Apparently Gruden got his masters from UT, and he coached there as a GA for a year or two. Probably as accurate as the old Ara Parseghian buys a house in Upper Arlington rumors in the 1970s in Columbus. Only some on this board will be old enough to remember those rumors. Woody wasn't always the legend he is today.

Everyone in the valley snake oil salesmen/women? When I visited there for a tour I can't remember how many times I heard "#1 in the U.S. for innovation!". Their teaching program is reputable for being one of the better programs in the country.

Just carried that folksy way. ASU to me when I lived out there wanted to be a lot like Texas. When the Californians came over, it became a lot more "cosmo" if you will. With the folks in the athletic department, he came off as someone who fit in with them a lot better than most. Not knocking Arizona State, but definitely was someone that was going to relate to the folks out there a lot better than most.

As to the teaching program, incredible program. Definitely one of the better ones in the country.

The Tennessee fascination with Gruden is maybe my favorite thing in college football this year (the pure playoff chaos if UGA loses to GT, Auburn beats Alabama, UGA beats Auburn, WVU beats Oklahoma, TCU beats Oklahoma, Clemson beats Miami, and osu beats Wisconsin, still has a chance to come out on top though....).

I have no idea why a successful head coach who made his fair share of TV money a la Coach Gruden or even Coach Cowher would ever want to get back in the meat grinder of a high profile program, after all of that free time. However, those two names get mentioned a great deal. If you are a TV football analyst like former Notre Dame Coach Bob Davie going to a low profile job like New Mexico makes sense. There's not a great deal of pressure and the laid back New Mexico lifestyle and picturesque scenery seems worth it.

As for Ohio Cat Fan's rumor memories--that was Columbus in the 1970s. If people now think it is all Ohio State all the time--the current scene pales in comparison to those days when a Jimmy Crum commentary (the now dearly departed former channel 4 sports anchor) could cause fainting spells or near fist to cuffs to break out. The Ara Parsehgian Upper Arlington realtor rumors were one of many. The Miami to the Big Ten for Northwestern to the MAC was one of my personal favorites. Talk about wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Today the MAC actually gets mentioned by MAC sports alums on various Columbus TV stations, which seemed almost unthinkable in the 1970s. Though I do believe, the Brian Burke Show might have been seen on cellar dwelling channel 6 in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Someone with a better memory than me might recall if this is correct or not.

I don't think there'll be a shortage of candidates. Lots of guys want to be head coaches. Two questions, is that any worse than when Frank took over here or Bowden took over at Akron?

I have great respect for Paul Haynes after seeing his team's demeanor and the way his coaches kept with the players even when we ran away with our game. They played hard that night and have decent size/strength. With a bit more speed in the back seven, the defense would be solid. Offense will require more work -- not enough depth on the offensive line or playmakers. The base is there to become competitive within a couple years.

I agree with colobobcat66 that there will be plenty of strong candidates.
