I have to wonder if the presence of this thread on Page 1 at the time of his verbal to Ohio caused him to have second thoughts:

My favorite part is the quote about how he wants to compete against the best every week and to relish the competition. A concept that Allen who's apparently never been competitive in anything that didn't involve a circle, would understand

In fairness to him, I doubt anyone knows what his best path was for success. I tend to think he won't play much at Florida because it would be very difficult anywhere to come into a new playbook in the fall and master it fast enough to earn a starting job. Ironically, had he not transferred at all, he'd most likely have been the starter this fall.

I am sure that he probably read the site. People on this site questioned his offers, disrespected his father and disrespected his friend Jaaron. We seen players relatives and fakes agents throw shade. I feel sorry for the coaching staff. When they try to recruit great players, they have to tell the recruits to ignore some fans because they have fell in love with the current players. That being said, I believe in our school and hope that this is the year that we win the MAC. If you can read through his thread and not see sickness, you have probably been doing drugs. Let's get better as a base. As far as Zaire, I believe he made a mistake and he blew a great opportunity. Soory to LC and others for sharing their information, I had no idea that our fans would try to sabotage a recruit.

But Allen, doesn't this happen at every school with every fan base? Certainly there is a Florida message board with fans saying negative things about Zaire. If a few negative posters on a message board influenced them, boy, they need to get re-evaluate their decision making process. "I loved OU coach, but some 14 year old poster on Bobcatattack said he didn't think I was any good and my dad was a jerk, so you guys are out." Really? Meh.... I'm filled with doubt.

+1.

Besides, if he can't take criticisms on a WEBSITE how the hell do you expect the kid to preform on Saturdays? I heard far worse from coaches in jr high than what's been said about Zaire, his dad, or his friend. I highly, highly doubt he took his time to read through comments and posts by anyone here.

When the guy is paying to train in Arizona over the winter, chances are he isn't going to a MAC school to play in the fall and try to go pro. If Fleck were still at WMU and they were still loaded like they were last year, I would say maybe. But without the definitive powerhouse team in the MAC there isn't an attractive enough school, no matter how close to home, to bring in a QB with the head the size of Zaire. He's a great athlete. He may start at Florida. But the chances he gets drafted before round 6 next year are slim to none.

I actually wasn't concerned about the posts attacking him and his father, for the reasons you mention. However, someone laying out a case that quarterbacks never progress at Ohio would be more of a concern to him, I would think. I thought at the time, and I still think, that the analysis was flawed because most of the data referred to the work of Gdowski as quarterback coach, and he's no longer at Ohio. I think the data is incomplete on Isphording, but that the early data looks promising.

Again, I don't think any of us knows for sure what his best path would have been. I think it's almost certain that he won't get drafted if he doesn't start somewhere. I also know that quarterbacks do occasionally get drafted from the MAC, so to me, he would have had a better chance of getting drafted as a MAC starter than he would have had as a backup at Florida or Texas.

I do think that he made a very poor choice when he decided to leave Notre Dame in the first place. He would almost certainly have been the starter there this fall, if he had stayed, and that would have been his best shot at being drafted by far.

To go back to a previous post, when it comes to evaluating whether or not a player would be a good fit at a school, I don't think I'd put much,if any, stock in the comments made on a fan site.
There's no way to know,from posts,what, if any ,knowledge/expertise a poster has.

I would think any player worth his salt would do his own research on the football programs he was considering, including their ability to develop players at his position.

Everybody has sicko's. I have never seen people lie a recruits offers and say a recruits's father wrote articles or provided the info. I also never seen confessed family members from a MAC school with a returning QB that barely completed 50% of his passes in a few games and who also only threw for 100 yards per game in high school, attack a Notre Dame transfer who beat SEC schools, and completed nearly 60% of their passes. We have some issues of mediocrity and other things. Had Windham been returning, who had similar numbers, we probably would have saw none of this. It is, what it is.

No, no, no Allen, he thought your harebrained idea about the coaching staff "sending players off to a junior college" scared him away and sealed the deal for him. He was worried Frank was going to send him off to Dodge City, Kansas and that he'd never be heard from ever again. That, or how you spread and post lies on here. He doesn't like dishonest fan bases Allen, that probably did the trick too. Allen, face it, you blew it and only have yourself to blame. So thanks for running Zaire off from Ohio, Allen, even though he was never coming here in the first place. He's too good for Ohio, remember??? ;)

Frank sent Pinder and the Leftwich twins to Fort Scott. You don't have to have fake friends and fake info to find that. You have to be innovative. You can be a groupie and crowd those that innovate or you can innovate yourself.

We have a fan that calls himself a cat, who tells recruits that they are too good to be Ohio Bobcats, then when the recruit picks a power 5 school, the same fan tried to do his chores and got pelted with snow balls causing him to go awol on the board while recovering from his injuries. It is awful to see how these young men treat groupies or people with identity crisis'. We need to protect the vulnerable, welcome back Ohiobobcat. I hope that you can believe and be relentless; most of all I hope that you can be resilient.

There is an old saying that the fans' favorite player is the backup QB, and I think that applies here. There were people who believed in Windham, and people who didn't. There are people who believe in Maxwell, and people who don't. Maxwell and Rourke, plus Keszei and Duckworth is the hand we are dealt, so let's just see how much they can improve, and how far they can take us.

In the meantime, whoever starts, there will be people calling for the others.

Here is the point I am trying to make, Brad Ellis started our last game at corner, we should not try to scare away Deion Sanders because we identify with Brad Ellis or we love the idea of Brad Ellis playing. We should always try to get better. There was a clear intent by some on this board to dissuade Zaire from coming here. It was kind of sick. On the contrary, there were fans saying we should bench Blair Brown (NFL talent) because of two penalties, yet we sabotage an effort to get a guy that could help us win in favor of someone who was marginal by all accounts. Why couldn't Blair Brown have start forever status with Tanya Harding like support.

Great post, LC.

I was on the Maxwell train last year, and hope to be on his side again. It seems like he has the most potential since TT. However, as a RS Sophomore and plenty of starts under his belt I will have higher expectations. The offense should be ready to lead this year. My biggest concern is how much he has progressed throughout the offseason, as it was discussed at length in another thread Isphording's lack of developing some of the young men in previous years.

Poor Allen, needs to grab a binki, the fact that Zaire personally states that he wants to challenge his self against the best every week, goes right over Allen's head. But keep living in your dream world. And no one was driven from this board, many actually work and travel. As for your failed innuendo of my fake friends that has been debunked by several on here so keep crying.

debunked by many, lol. Just like you saying that one day I would realize you and other board members realize that we are Zaire's best offer, and TB's agents being staunchly against him playing OLB. Your best friend, lol, what a friend you have, you need to try friending the truth and cast down your imaginations.

Actually, in that thread I made the point that while it was true that QBs did not improve under Gdowski, under Isphording it is absolutely true that the QBs have improved. Here is data on each and every QB that Isphording has coached at Ohio:
L.C. wrote:
Vick
2013 (under Gdowski) 47% completions, 1 TD, 1 Int, 101 efficiency
2014 59% completions, 8 TDs, 4 Int, 131 efficiency
2015 64% completions, 10 TDs, 6 Int, 134 efficiency

Sprague
2014 49% completions, 3 Tds, 5 Int, 100 efficiency
2015 55% completions, 7 tds, 3 Int, 137 efficiency

Windham
2015 48% completions, 1 TD, 4 Int, 98 efficiency
2016 56% completions, 9 TD, 3 Int, 119 efficiency

Duckworth - no stats

Maxwell
2016 56% completions, 8 TD, 4 Int, 136 efficiency

So, did any of the QBs show progress? Oh wait... they all did. Every single QB showed performance improvement each and every year.

Note that Maxwell started at a much higher level than did the other QBs. The first year pass efficiencies:
Vick 2013 101 efficiency
Sprague 2014 100 efficiency
Windham 2015 98 efficiency
Maxwell 2016 136 efficiency

If Maxwell improves from his start, he could become very good.

One final point I made in the other thread is this: Exactly at the time Isphording arrived, the IPF opened. Has the QB progress been as a result of Isphording? Or has it been a result of the IPF? Or, perhaps, a bit of both?
