I'll go first:

Tarell Basham will be pick #80 (15th pick of the 3rd round) which right now is Indianapolis

Blair Brown will be pick #140 (tail-end of the 4th round) which right now is the New York Giants

Casey Sayles and Sebastian Smith sign UFA contracts and stick on with teams through training camp.

CBS has Basham in the 2nd round, 42nd pick, to NE and Brown in the 5th round, 169th pick, to Houston. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2017-nfl-seven-round-mo... / Frankly I'd rather both wind up somewhere else. Can't stand either coach, probably because one is a disciple of the other.

If the draft order holds up (and it probably won't because of trades), I'd like the Bengals to get Basham in the 2nd round (#41) and Brown go to the Chiefs in the 4th round (#132).

Basham will go to Dallas at number 60 of the second round or he will go to the Patriots at number 72. Brown will go to Oakland in the 4th round with pick 129. Casey Sayles will go to Cincinnati with pick 251. Sayles needs just a little more buzz, the coaches need to call some scouts.

When they both get drafted it will be the first NFL draft with two Bobcats since 1972, and the first draft with two Bobcats in the first seven rounds ever.

At a quick glance, it appears that the MAC has had 75 guys drafted by the NFL over the last 10 years.

So, at an average for the league of about 8 guys per year, I'm going to predict that at least 7 guys will be drafted from OHIO. There can be no doubt about it--especially after we had such a great year, going 8-6. Clearly we had abundant NFL talent.

Two will get drafted and you will probably see two drafted next year with Pruehs and Poling going and maybe even Hagan. Farkas and Zervos are prospects as well. Sebastian Smith will not get drafted because of his inability to get separation. The 4.51 we had listed was really a 4.6+, He could make a team as a possession wide receiver.

All anyone is saying is that two players will get drafted.

Are you trying to say that one or both of them won't be drafted?

Who the hell is going to draft a kicker out of the MAC after his sophomore year? And no NFL team is going to draft a safety out of the MAC after his sophomore year unless he's Jack Tatum and Troy Polamalu's lovechild.

Come on, people.

If he has a better year than he had last year, he would be irresistable. He was like 5th in force fumbles and had one of the highest grades of all the db's in the bowl games.

Cleon Aloese is going to go the Landon Cohen route and put up some ridiculous bench press number, and a team will take a late round flyer on him based on it. Just watch.

I believe it, him and Porter have a shot. Landon Cohen was a beast on the bench.

Maybe.

But, again, the MAC averages having about 8 guys drafted a year. Does it make sense that OHIO is going to have a couple every year...especially when this team can't get a MACC (perhaps by dominating on defense?), which mean that there are better teams in the MAC...and, so, players from the other 11 MAC teams which will take some of those eight MAC draft slots per year.

By the way, where are the OHIO possibles going to be when they watch the draft?

Looking at Mel Kiper's final list:

Jordan Reid 78th among WRs

Troy Watson 54th among OTs

Tarell Basham 10th among DEs

Blair Brown 8th among ILBs

From Todd McShay:

Linebacker

Best in coverage

1. Reuben Foster, Alabama
2. Duke Riley, LSU
3. Blair Brown, Ohio

Based solely on his tape, Foster is one of the five best football players in this draft. His ability cover at a high level is a big reason for that. Riley's elite short-area quickness allowed him to hang with smaller running backs in coverage.

Best tackler

1. Blair Brown, Ohio
2. Reuben Foster, Alabama
3. Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State

Brown has some sleeper potential because of his change-of-direction skills (4.18-second short shuttle, third among LBs) and his reliability as a tackler (see video below). McMillan closes quickly on the ball carrier and packs a punch.

I dig it. Particularly if the Basham pick becomes reality.

Blair Brown's tape is awesome.

I haven't followed draft analysis close enough to guess at specific teams but I'll say:

Basham - late 2nd round
Brown - early 4th round
Sayles - 7th round

54th pick could be the winner.

6 Edges taken in the first round, I believe Basham goes number 42 to the Saints. Blair Brown has 5 ILB's in front of him. I see him going in the fourth round or maybe the third if there is a run on linebackers. I can't believe Dalvin Cook is still available.
Mel kiper has him as the 25th best available.

And to think one very prolific poster on BA (believe he's now approaching the elusive 10,000 mark) once told me that I was being totally unrealistic in thinking Basham had a chance of sniffing the NFL. I was told that Basham did not have an NFL body, and that there was no way he'd ever play at the next level. This poster told me that Basham didn't pass his NFL eye test, or words to that effect. I, however, was using the "ear test," and what better name for an NFL defensive pass rusher than "bash 'em!" ;-)
