Just saying.

Bet they're the new jet dry type. Everyone here is now jealous.

A lot of places around here are getting away from paper towels and going to the high velocity dryer.
Problem is,trying to dry your face.

Big Bang Theory is this generation's Friends. Both pretty much not funny at all...lots-of-laughs sound track at actors ranting on about obvious stuff that's not really funny. Very little true wit.

Viewed some years later, episodes fall flat.

I remember 50 years ago, my father, who sold paper towels, talking about how easy it was to sell against hot air blowers. All he did was take a white ceramic plate, wet it down, and dry it under the blower. When dry, according to him, it was easy to see the urea crystals that the blower had deposited on the plate. I wonder if the new dryers filter the air in any way to remove the urea?

Back to the topic at hand, this Miami facility is proof positive that collegiate athletics is broken. Can anyone really argue that this type of expenditure is in keeping with the mission of a public university? Or do students also have barber chairs and similar amenities in their dorms, etc.? The Ohio faculty would stage a walkout over a facility like this, and for good reason. Do the athletes MU is trying to attract care as much about classroom technology? The talents of the university's diverse faculty? The student experience? This facility is a self-contained living experience that will further segregate varsity athletes from the general student population. This whole ICA complex we're building at the mid-major level is going to collapse on itself sooner rather than later.

And the faculty and mindset is the reason why Ohio will never win a MAC title. Just got to tour the facility and the video does it no justice. That school when they redo Millett is going to be on its perch and have the facilities to go win to partner with their academics. Not saying Ohio is bad, but they do a pretty good job fuelin their own ego

This. The Virgina legislature has already limited the percentage of athletic budgets that can be subsidized at public universities, and several other states are looking into it. It's at an unsustainable level, and something is going to have to give.

Go back 10 years on this board and you will read "Ohio will never have an IPF," "Nelsonville Bypass will never get built," "Ohio will never regularly sellout Peden," "Ohio will never make another bowl," "Ohio will never win a bowl game," "Ohio will never make the MACC." All of that has been accomplished since Frank Solich came to Ohio. Everything other than the bypass likely were a strong result of Frank Solich.

Ohio has been a couple plays away from winning a MACC the past decade. The Bobcats are certainly within the ballpark. While we've got a Miami hype man here trying to talk up a program we've been dominating the past decade, Ohio is in the process of building an academic center (privately funded) and I will also point you kids to the recruiting board (we just had a huge recruiting weekend)

I've seen crazier things happen.

Miami doesn't have a strong sports culture or a willingness to give out second chances. That is what a serious football school needs to be able to do. They've had 6 consecutive losing seasons and 10 of the last 11. If I had to bet on it with Marshall, Notre Dame and UC on the schedule for Miami next year it will be a 7th consecutive losing season.

I will take that bet. As to not having a strong sports culture, I will disagree with ya wholly. As to that schedule, Marshall is down and Cincy is ripe for a picking. And who knows about ND

The list of things that you cite as being stated as 'will never happens.' Well, there may have been some posts that way. But I think it's unfair to characterize those things as strong themes. There was not strong or widespread support for those views.

And, sorry but 0-4 MACC and 2-6 bowl games and dominating Miami when they've been dreadful is reality. A play or two away from a MACC title is meaningless.

Monroe, don't you wish the Browns were a play or two away from getting to the Super Bowl? Or, do you prefer reality? ;-)

'has awaken' ain't good English

A play or two away is meaningless. It could go the other way, also--a play or two away from losing games. If you don't get that it's meaningless, then, there's no discussion.

Back to the topic of the thread (Miami). I hope they are back. Beating them year in year out is not good for a rivalry. That said. One great year and 2 good months over the course of a decade does not mean they have returned. We will see what 2017 brings them.

All i was referring to is they're done being mediocre across the board. Just that they are now throwing the money behind the athletic dept again is a scary thing.

In Athens there is more of a sports culture than 20 years ago. Lucky's was the only sports bar in town and that doubled as a carryout. Then came Pigskin, BW3's sportsbars on the east side of town, Broney's. The book stores have increased promotion of OU sports. Bobcat Black branding from the athletics department. The blue collar culture of Southeast Ohio. If you are the Albanian Bear do you want to go here or do you want to play at Oxford? His top 4 finalist were Ohio, Purdue another sports town, Cincinnati and Toledo. I used to say Marshall had a football culture advantage on Ohio but that has changed. Cincinnati is permanently a top G5 program with the upgrades they've made and they stole Miami's lunch in football. Miami's academics aren't that great. They don't have a law school or med school as you'd expect with a major university. Recruits are not thinking like a 58 year old insurance salesman in Columbus who sees a Miami education as a foundation for a successful marriage. AJ Ouellette was from Miami's backyard but walked on to OU.

LOL. The only way they could move the needle there is a move to the SEC. With 10,000 traveling fans in the stadium each week that would instantly change the conversation. They could become an Ole Miss or something.

Just wait until Miami wins. Im tired of arguing this, especially because we have 5 juco commits at critical positions that are gonna need to start on offense asap. I will be laughing when Miami runs the MAC and Ohio couldnt win a comference title. Now i could write a whole op piece on why Ohio will not win a MAC Championship or be relevant, especially considering our current class is not even half ohio kids. But I will wait for you to tell me these juco kids will solve problems for us. All we need are more issues like Irons and Co. right? Talk to me when OU wins one. We dont have a recruiting territory at all, no coaches with in-state connections, let alone Cbus connections. So like I said, enjoy being second fiddle

Not true. Count the number of instate kids on Ohio's and Miami's rosters. Ohio is way ahead. FL kids this year are a reflection of raised recruiting standards.

And I will say this, my job requires me to know who is up and coming and who is going big on college athletics. Last year I bought a lot of WMU tickets for that reason. This year, I expect to do the same thing at Miami. To see what Miami is doing right now should be putting the MAC on notice due to a bigger commitment to facilities than WMU did to get great. Sure, argue coaching and what not, but it takes someone to realize that you need those facilities to compete for recruits who can make winning easy.

Another thing, I know a lot of these guys at different schools and hear the conversations of who is going to get who or build the next big thing. Hence my canary in the coal mine going off right now

I have been. For the past 10 years. As I said, I look forward to their "awakening." It will be good for the MAC and OUr rivalry. In the meantime go ahead and stock up on Miami football tickets. Though I doubt the resale market in Oxfiord or Flint will flourish.

I would not classify Western Michigan as a "great" football team or program.

Great means you do it. Then you do it again. Then you do it for 20 years.

Are you saying you're going to make money buying and selling Miami football tickets in 2017? Are you buying family pack type tickets and reselling for a more normal face value or are you saying that ticket demand will be so high that people are going to pay a premium above face value? I might believe the first scenario (seems like a lot of hustle for very little $) but I definitely am not buying crowds are surging at Yager any time soon.
