I guess it has become a prerequisite that Ohio must carry a Michigan grad transfer each year on its roster now.

I was kind of thinking it probably wasn't me, since I didn't get any votes.

How many 4* big 10 grad transfers were on the grobe mac championship team?

I've seen crazier things happen.

Not impressed with his stats , hope he does great. I know 1 thing - this is not the offensive guy that all the tweets and retweets were about. That ship has probably sailed elsewhere.

Me, I am willing to go way out on that limb and project him as one who will join with Poling as a team leader. No one, well maybe allen, expects Poling to handle the leadership of 100+ 18-23 year olds all by his lonesome. The more leader types in the locker room the better. The more old guys around who are where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be, doing what they are supposed to, the better. All those freshmen need to see their example. Better that than relying on coaches to chase them all down. I bet Poling is already missing Reid, Basham, Laseak, Sayles, Brown, Davis, Watson, Cooper, Smith and Strobel, to name only a few.

Hmm . . . this is interesting. I found this on an ESPN high school recruiting page as reported on a UM recruiting blog site:

"Has great size and athleticism for the fullback position at the major level of competition; in fact we definitely see tight end potential. … Shows good flexibility, agility and balance as a ball carrier; for his size, he displays good vision and quickness getting up into the line from a regular fullback alignment; can pick and slide while continually gaining ground up to the second level; flashes the wiggle to make first tacklers miss in space however he lacks the burst or second gear needed to clear traffic and break into open space. This guy is a tough between the tackles, power runner capable of moving the pile and shortening the game in the fourth quarter. Does a good job blocking off the edge; brings his feet, rolls his hips and blocks through opponents."

I'll go out on the limb here and say SUTM may be our most effect UTM play in a long time. Perhaps, we'll run some two-back sets with Shallman and AJ. Monroe will be salivating when he sees these two line up in the backfield.

Stop crowning people because they went to a big school. He needs to come and fit in. We have 15 seniors leading winter practices and spring practice. You are already lining up for car washes and we don't know what kind of skill he has. If he went to Grand Valley State and started, we would not be having this conversation.

I don't look upon him as a savior....maybe not even one who contributes as much as the other UM transfers...but I do think he can contribute.

Injuries and other human acts of attrition have put our RB status in the thin or next to none world. He looks like someone who can really help on short yardage and/or red zone situations. He also looks like a TE.

I don't think we. need him at LB.

He's actually the BYU #2 QB.

I'd actually be more excited if he started and contributed on Grand Valley States roster than his role at Michigan

Hello allen. If I were to say up, you will be on a bull horn screaming down. I do expect him to fit in. I am not expecting him to take time away from any already established starter unless there are injuries such as those that opened up time for Mr. Heitzman. I say "Welcome." Share with us what you learned at Michigan. At some point, perhaps only in certain situations, like protecting the punter or on short yardage, I expect we fans will see a benefit from issuing this young man an Ohio uniform. JMHO

I agree with you have agreed with you a lot lately. I just don't believe that we should make hime a locker room leader right away, when people have bled green and white for 3-4 years.

Welcome to Athens, Mr. Shallman.

That seems like his most likely role. He's apparently had quite a few injuries, and who knows if he'll play at all. Like others, I don't see him at LB. The other possibility, I suppose, is that they put in a few I-formation plays, and line him up as a true fullback. Monroe would like that, but I don't think it's likely.

I wonder how many teams utilize a true lead-blocking fullback as a part of their regular offense? Gotta be less than 10. Stanford, Michigan, Alabama (maybe...they went more spread under Kiffin), and Arkansas are about all I can think of off the top of my head. Miami and USC possibly? Those programs make me think "pro-style" offense, but I haven't followed either close enough the past couple years to know if that is the case.

Iowa, Penn State maybe?

Yes, I do . . . and I once threw a TD pass to Todd Snyder . . . in fact on multiple occasions . . . This is a true statement. Not Fake News. Though it might not be in completely the proper context.

I like this transfer. Strobel and Heitzman, if I am correct, didn't play even as much as this guy. Nice size and we do have a starting LB spot open with Brown graduating. I love Croutch but this kid will be a great fill in for Blair. I think he will make an impact.

No one is "made" a leader. Even Captains are elected. The leadership I expect from every senior player is by example. No long tenure on the team required.
