McDoom can flat out get to the passer and he's a run-stopper.

If we get him, look for us to go to three down linemen as our base set.

If we plan to use him on D then he's not the mystery guy.

The tweets talked about an offensive game changer...which I think with his speed he can be.

I don't think it's him.

There was mention of possibly twitter and instagram references to Ohio...yet twitter is all UM and he had no posts on instagram.

On twitter there is a NotEddieMcDoom.

The coming McDoom is not necessarily a 'him.'

In addition to his or her duties on offense, McDoom will doubtless be used often at qb, TE, right guard and as the third running back in our two back sets. Often at the same time.

McDoom to you from OHIO!

My logic:
Pretty highly regarded RB recruit, not currently committed, who has been quiet on twitter since mid-December, from Georgia, which is right between Alabama and Florida.

I was wrong. Signed with Terd this morning. Boo.

Think he'll play this fall? If he's the mystery guy, that seemed to be the implication of the now infamous tweet.

Ok, all the hype was for a 5'10" 169lb. guy who runs a 4.69 forty, has a 2 star ranking on Rivals and supposedly had offers from South Alabama, Southern Mississippi and Arkansas State?

I think somewhere along the lines the story changed/merged. I don't think the now infamous tweets were about Cox, but I was guessing he was an unreported commit.

Maybe it was Zaire but he changed his mind shortly after, and pushed his real commitment out until April. We may never know.

What assurances do the coaches have that this mystery dream recruit is legit?

This is not a mystery dream recruit. He's a recruit, no better or worse than any other recruit. He just decided not to announce on Twitter like everyone else.

It was Cox. As I pointed out on page 5 of this thread, there was no mystery dream recruit. The coaches were just tweeting like they do whenever they get a verbal.

I agree with you guys. No way that much hype and secrecy for an under the radar WR like Cox. There was someone else the coaches and players thought we had who must have fallen through.

Too much hype.

A certain poster put up how happy so many 2018 potential recruits were to visit OHIO.

What a surprise--guys who might want to be recruited by OHIO put up positive comments about the experience on their social media. That must take all of 20 seconds to do.

Every recruit is just the best!

A 12 year history of not so much.

This class went from being so-so to being pretty damn good right up to end with 4 guys who were tagged to P5 schools late before all choosing Ohio. Coleman was tagged to WVU for awhile, Kitrell was tagged to Minnesota, and Harris and Tusha were both tagged to Purdue. Tusha chose Ohio about two weeks ago but those other 3 were major additions today. Those four guys are as good of a quartet as anyone in the MAC brought in and instead of losing some top guys like many other MAC teams did today, Ohio did the opposite and brought in 3 of those guys on signing day. A huge win for Ohio and I can't ever remember coming up with that kind of surprise late like that ever.

FWIW...

Rivals ranks Ohio #9 in the MAC....and the only MAC school without a 3-star.

They don't seem too impressed with Ohio haul
