Need win. We one game into classic Franky 4 game fall flop and ain't nobody got time for that! Make it just 3 this year against them westsiders! Cats wet litter box in Toledo and Mt. Pleasant. Win this game and Beefsteak to set up fisticuffs with Zippy.

Maxwell start-he's future. No need for crapfest on offense to start game. Prove us coaches that you actually did recruit a good to great ball throwing guy! Score early and often. Tuck them hotflashes in bed by halftime. I know you love hanging out with your fellow dregs of the MAC but it's time to make some new friends. They don't make you better. No one likes a guy who hangs out in the basement too much. Move out to nicer place.

And defense. Defense, defense, defense. Kent's QB is not good. Don't make him look all MAC like you love to do so much. Just because a QB puts on a helmet doesn't mean you have to let him complete passes or even throw. He didn't even drop a bill on those Redchumps D. Knock him on his keister. Make sure to get on the bus d-line. Where did you go in the second half last week? There's an all you can eat feast being served at Dix Stadium Saturday. Come hungry! Sprinkles are for winners-don't you want sprinkles on your ice cream after the game?!

Deans of the MAC coaching staff. With your long standing unity and togetherness, don't get schooled again by young whippersnappers. These rascals are eating your lunch and you need to put your foot down and say no, these are my cheesy poofs! Mr. Offensive Coordinator sir-I know your name suggests you like to have your head in the sand, but don't! Make it rain out there!

Go kick butt so we have nothing to whine about next Saturday and can focus on the Ohio pro football suck fest that will take place at Mike Brown field next Sunday.

As bad as Kent State has been, a win for the Golden Flashes and they very well could move into division contention. Ultimately, their scores compare pretty similarly to Ohio's. Their QB is a much better runner than passer. He ran 24 times against Miami. Their leading receiver is a running back who sat out this past week. They seem like the kind of team offensively that Ohio's defense should be very good at shutting down.

They're O line isn't nearly as formidable as EMU's, so we should have two or three guys in the QB's face all day. They've been plagued by injuries. Holley was banged up at Fiami, so they had a RB at QB for a couple drives. They're passing game was almost non-existent at Fiami (99 yds), so they had to rely on the run. If that happens Saturday, we should be able to shut them down. Fiami had Ragland at QB for the first time this year and he went 10-21 for 181 and 2 TDs. If our guys play smart and show up with a chip on their shoulders from Saturday, we should be able to win this one easily.

Agree with OUCats82 - it's time to give Maxwell the reigns and see what he shows he can do. He's obviously the future, and is also probably the present as well. He's a much, much better thrower of the ball.

Whatever you do...

...RUN AWAY from Kent State safety Nate Holley. Dude is a monster in the Flashes backfield. Leads the team in tackles with 92. Second place guy on the team has 39.

It has only been since 06 that I have been coming to Bobcat games but it was that year that I saw the most memorable and fun game that I have attended over the years. Anyone who was at Kent that year won't forget it. 35 degrees, 20-30 mph winds all day(the poor kent punter, a -2 punt), rain, sleet, snow, and hail. To top it off a 40 minute lightning delay. What I remember most though was the Kent fans all leaving and the Ohio fans going down and taking their seats behind the team. Great day to be a Bobcat fan and go to a game.

I'm trying to figure out how a game played in 35 degrees and rain with 30mph winds is "fun". But to each their own I guess.

The division title was on the line. That made it easier to stick around - as Jeff McKinney and I did. That win put the Bobcats in the MACC game.

Didn't that season have more than a few weather challenges? Not sure if I'm right, but it makes sense that the "we love football" chant, began around then.

Well I will admit that it helped we won. The toughest thing other then the wind Ohio had to deal with that day was Julian Edelman. Tough man to tackle, had a couple of spectacular runs.

Speaking for myself, it was fun to see the Bobcats win in such ridiculous weather conditions, but it wasn't fun standing there in the rain, snow, sleet and hail. Even that, though, was fun in retrospect.

I was there with my boys, who were 5 and 3 at the time. That was the craziest 4 hours of weather I have ever seen. I'm surprised I didn't get arrested for child abuse for taking them to that game.

Certainly going to be cooler according to forecast. We are only a 3.5 favorite against this team? Perhaps LV is aware of our propensity to disappear for 3 games in the middle of the season?

Or the propensity to struggle against Kent State for apparent reason at all.

I guess I can see that. I have some great memories of Bengals games that were bad weather like that.

According to the Sagarin ratings, given Kent State's home-field advantage, Ohio should be about a 4-point favorite. Ohio really hasn't performed much better than Kent State so far this year. I do think it is a team Ohio matches up with well, though. I think its a game the Bobcats' defense can dominate, so I'm hopeful for a solid win, though I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio has trouble scoring.

Three quotes from Frank at the Monday press conference really jumped out at me:

1. "We have a plan. The plan wasn't carried out."

2. "As coaches we need to be smart." (Implication, we weren't in this game.)

3. "We want to keep the injury report this week under cover."

The first two seem to portray a level of frustration that I really don't remember from Frank in past situations. I've heard him previously talk about bad coaching decisions in a rather general way, but these two quotes coupled with his post-game comments about inexcusable offensive play calling, seem to me to show an anger that is unprecedented for Frank, who is generally a guy who controls his emotions in public.

The third quote is more coy than usual from Frank on this subject.

Also, I found his statements about the QB situation interesting. It appears to me that as of Monday they were seriously considering starting Maxwell against Kent but hadn't really made up their minds yet.

I'd be interested in other posters' takes on this press conference.

I was about to counter with the fact that I went to many a Browns games as a younger man in this sort of weather.

But then I remembered I was at Browns games in the late 1990s and early 2000s, so...yeah...about the fun part...Phil Dawson backdoor cover field goals, maybe?
