I believe that both the Miami game and the Eastern game are potentially tight contests. I like a lot that I have seen from this team, but are on the razor thin line of having excessive penalties and/or turnovers in one game a la Texas State and have the opportunity to lose with some inopportune plays here or there. I watched the EMU's against Wyoming and Fiami against Cincy, and they are both much improved over the past several years, so I don't think anyone should be too pious on how these next two or three contests will go.

And for the record, I hate tOSU, and Ricordati and Torgerson are DB's.

Miles would be Solich 11 years ago...I'd take him if I were Miami. Question is would he go there?

I think its doubtful Miami has enough left to hang with Ohio after playing 3 schools tight in losing efforts. They are due for a mental letdown and a moderate blow out.

From Elyria, Ohio and played at Michigan. He turns 63 in November. Older than Solich was and he made a lot more money over his tenure at LSU more in 1 year than Solich's entire time at Nebraska. Solich was 59 when Nebraska let him go and is a lifer type coach. Don't see Miles the same way.

Is Miami looking for a new coach again, already?

For what it's worth, Ohio is now up to 38-52-2 against Miami all time. Under Solich, Ohio is 9-2 against Miami. The last two games at Miami have ended up in a 23-20 loss in 2012, and a 24-21 win in 2014. I expect another close game, hopefully with a win, but Miami is a passing team, as was Texas State. I'm hoping for at least 5 sacks in this game.

I thought the MAC enacted some policy years ago that the home student section couldn't be behind the visitor bench and that's why Ohio's bench moved to be on the student side at Peden.

Looking at this picture Miami's place is out of compliance. Is the picture wrong, or am I wrong, or do Miami students just not show up so it doesn't matter?

I think the picture is accurate. In 2014, Ohio was in front of the Miami student section. As you'll see in this video:

As I look at the ticket map, I looked into this "construction area". I didn't realize Miami had an indoor facility that recently opened. When I look at how they've built their "IPF", it seems like it was incorporated with Yager stadium from the start. I sure wish that would have been done with Peden and our IPF to create a better look, and maybe a more effective use of the space.

Crazy to think that even with 9 wins in the last 11 years there is still a 14 game lead. I'm sure they padded that stat for the near 30 years or so that we had a football team in name only more often than not.

If I recall I think that was a decision Ohio made themselves, not the MAC offices. A dumb one in my opinion.

It's a policy but not a directive. I looked at seating charts for several MAC teams' stadiums and could find only one other (Kent, I think) that followed the policy completely. Some have the student section right behind the visiting team bench. Some others have the student section start at one end of the visiting team's bench, wind around the closer end zone and stop at the goal line on the other side. There's nothing uniform in the application of the policy.

Multi-purpose building at Ohio. I don't mind the location as a stand alone building and to move it away from PEDEN in case it falls down seems like a good idea. Just kidding, maybe.

I personally think it's good where it is. It is right next door, in-between Peden and the natural grass practice field. The academic center is going at the North end zone. I hope they keep the South end zone fairly open. I like having that end of the field facing the river open.

Miami's practice facility is much like ours, the facility simply "sits" next to their stadium and is not attached, there are no locker rooms, equipment rooms, and such located with in the facility. That being said, their facility is still very nice. On the issue of the student section locations, that was for a while known as the Tom Boeh rule as he was the one who continually lobbied for the change as he felt our players and staff was being berated in a cruel manner on the road (evidently he never heard the 110 when they were located behind the visiting teams). Note it is also Boeh who made attending an OHIO baseball game pretty much zero fun.

Just a slight problem...there isn't room for our IPF at Peden to incorporate it the way Fiami has. Unless you want to put it in the river or on top of South Green drive...

Not scoffing, as I think it's a neat idea, just not very executable without some kind of major stadium re-build or significant impact on Walter Hall...cue stadium improvement discussion here:

I just found out that I can't come to the BG game, so I have 2 front row Phillips section tickets and a green lot parking pass. PM if you're interested. Price negotiable. I will mail to you ASAP.

Your Phillips section Peden tickets won't do you -- or anyone else -- much good. The game is in Oxford! ;-)
