NIU trails FCS Western Illinois by 11 in the 4th quarter. If the Huskies can't come from behind, they'll start the season 0-4.

NIU won the 4th quarter 16-0, but couldn't come back from the 28-7 lead they spotted WIU in the first 3 quarters. Nevertheless, Wes and Monroe have assured us that, having won the MACC, Carey is completely safe.

At this point, NIU looks like they may lose a few more before the year is out. They could also turn things around. We'll just have to wait and see how they do, and also if and when Carey's seat does actually get hot. For me it's a curiousity. I have no opinion as to whether he should be on hot seat or not.

Here's another question. As a purely hypothetical question, suppose he goes 0-12 this year, and gets fired. Suppose also that Solich retires. Should Ohio consider hiring him? He did go to the MACC three times, and win once.
