Yes, of course. That's the whole point.

His problem, though, is that he hasn't figured out a way to make ticket sales or contributions fall, and I'd guess those are the measures that the AD would use.

Now, that's the kind of controlled, innovative aggression that will lead to a MAC title. That's the type of play we need to see on the field!

If you can't see me, well, if you refuse to see me, then everything is right with the program! Any problem with the program is not a problem with the program; the problem is me!

Where's the ballot? I'm voting for that!

Of course, this is subject to Situation and Fake Monroe chiming in.

I don't post much, but i gotta say Monroe's constant harping comes across as nagging from an unhappy person. no one wants to hear the same sh.. every day, day after day, after day, after day.

I believe he at times makes some valid points, but it's fingernails on the chalkboard any more.

We are tons better than any time I can remember except for the late 60s. I remember Tom Lichtenburg, Brian Knorr, even Cleve Bryant and I'll take FS over all of them. I'll take Solich over Grobe.

I doubt there are many on here who don't want an MACC. I too get annoyed with BUTM. We can be very predictable. I get all that. I get annoyed when we go flat midway through the season for a mysterious three-game skid.

But we were a couple of plays away from a MACC against Northern. We were a ridiculous amount of injuries away from being REALLY good in 2012.

Football takes a lot of fortuitous bounces to have a great year. I'm less bothered by Frank than I am with our offensive play calling.

I'm hopeful for a good year. I called the athletic office to ask them to replace Lichtenburg. Frank will leave when Frank wants to leave. Monroe just needs to get off the soap box. We ALL know what he wants. He should make sure to put in his application when Frank retires. We will be glad to tell him how he needs to resign. when he doesn't win a MACC every year, or even every other year.

No; I demand at least 12 years to bring it down. That seems to be the standard.

And I ain't Mr. Negative. I'm Mr. Realistic.

Up until 3 and a half years ago, I was as big a Solich fan as anyone,

The problem is that the solid majority hear isn't reacting to circumstances, holds the same view of Solich as when he came and when he reasonably quickly got us to the MAC title game.

What would they do in a real college football town given the last 3.5 years?

Hint: tar, feather, run out of town.

1982--I get your post. But, really--a pass for mediocrity because we were a few plays away and one year we had a lot of injuries another? Seriously?

I don't disagree with this statement. I'm glad Athens is not a "real college football" town.

I've stated before that I appreciate Monroe's passion for the program. However, the posts always come back to either Solich isn't good enough or the rest of the posters need to have higher standards for the program and if our standards don't match his then that's unacceptable. Even if salient points are being made, they are lost in all of the negativity.

I'm not making any apologies for my views on what I consider a "successful" program. They clearly don't meet Monroe's definition. That's fine. But being told on a message board that I need to up my standards isn't going to change my opinion.

To me, the Solich era has been successful, especially when looking at the football program as part of the university as a whole and not just focusing on athletics. He's brought credibility and respect to an area of the university that needed it.

Fall in Athens will ALWAYS be my favorite time of year in my favorite location on the planet. That will never change, regardless of the win-loss record of the football team.

Monroe really thinks it's his opinion, when it's actually his personality.

Slavin may be in one of these. I just can't figure out which one is him.

It certainly makes it easier to get to 7500+ posts if you say the same thing every time.

Honestly, we just need some more interesting threads. Once the season starts we'll have some fresh topics to discuss. Aside from Sprague leaving the program, I feel like things have been pretty workmanlike in Bobcatland. I think deep down everyone is nervous for 2016. It should be a pretty good season, I'd say. For sure it's a very important season.

Seconded. I like my college town (mostly) just the way it is. I wouldn't mind seeing it have just a little more lean towards hoops (no secret there) and I would like to see less red & gray around town. Otherwise, I think Athens is pretty great as is.

Workmanlike is good. This Bobcat team seems very, very focused. No drama, just take care of business. I think this team has some very good Captains.
