I would love to see us do this at OU but in a way that properly managed and to ensure no accidents happen. I think attendance would increase to the point where we would have to build more seats in 5-10 years.

I have serious doubts about any tangible affect on attendance numbers. Per game income on the other hand, I could see a boost there.

The way Miami has been playing in most of its sports, especially football and basketball, its fans need alcohol to get through the games and drown their sorrows.

Not selling beer at games is one of the most obnoxious things about college sports.

From an OU perspective it would certainly help attendance and student attendance in particular. It would bring more casual fans to the games who wouldn't have to sacrifice drinking time. It would also lead to people staying at the games longer.

Given the distance that $20 can take a person on Court Street, the suggestion that a concession stand priced can of beer will draw any additional attendance is simply laughable.

I would place a meme here to mock you were I able.

Places won't sell the product, but colleges sure as hell take the advertising money.

My wife and I went to the NCAA wrestling championships at The Garden earlier this year.

The NCAA prohibited The Garden from selling beer at the event.

I've had a few friends who have no affiliation with OHIO come to the game and were disappointed there were no beer sales. Now they usually attend NFL games. They loved our team, liked the stadium, not excited because of no alcohol. It was there day/weekend out. I think we miss the non-connected fan. Beer sales might help there, don't see a difference with students.

More attendance? Maybe, maybe not.

But I can guarantee there are persons in attendance who would be more inclined to stop sneaking in their own booze if they could get a beer or two to sip and enjoy on a gorgeous fall afternoon.

I brought a few friends to a game and they were shocked that all this "top Party School" I talked about and no alcohol was sold at the games. So I can understand where you are coming from on this one. I know the alcohol would be expensive at the game vs uptown but having the option of buying at the game vs leaving a game is a good idea.

I really can't see a jump in student attendance as a result of beer sales. Not just at Miami or OU, but anywhere.

Attendance would increase, student attendance would increase and sustain through most of the game and the overall experience would be improved. To suggest otherwise is just ignorant. There's a reason every major professional venue sells alcohol at events and it's not to keep attendees well hydrated. It's to make money and to enhance the experience.

I dunno. As undergrad I really had no interest in drinking at games.

Please understand I sold plasma, often twice weekly, for court St booze money.

I was stunned I couldn't get a beer at Bobcat ncaa tourney games. But, I didn't mind after seeing Ohio defeat Michigan in Nashville and almost defeat UNC in STL. I remember both games clearly.

I did, however, buy MANY drinks for anyone post-game on Broadway. Good times.

On the one hand, what's the big deal, can't we survive 4 hours without a beer?

On the other hand, why do universities think they need to save me from a having a beer?

The ANews once ran a great picture and caption in their humor edition. It was a college aged kid being held on the ground by a combination of 3-4 liquor control agents and police officers. It was obviously a picture from one of our student fests. The caption read: Liquor control agents save 19 year old from a beer.

Four hours without a beer? Sure. Four hours of __UTM without a beer? No.
