Spoiled brats my ass.

If I were smart, I'd just let this go. But I just can't seem to let go of this.

Here is Solich's record since 2005:

Year School G W L T Pct SRS SOS
2005 Ohio 11 4 7 0 .364 -11.71 -1.89
2006* Ohio 14 9 5 0 .643 -4.89 -6.03
2007 Ohio 12 6 6 0 .500 -9.09 -8.92
2008 Ohio 12 4 8 0 .333 -8.80 -4.64
2009* Ohio 14 9 5 0 .643 -1.89 -6.18
2010 Ohio 13 8 5 0 .615 -5.79 -9.86
2011* Ohio 14 10 4 0 .714 1.56 -5.73
2012 Ohio 13 9 4 0 .692 -2.75 -8.06
2013 Ohio 13 7 6 0 .538 -5.77 -6.85
2014 Ohio 12 6 6 0 .500 -9.79 -6.95
2015 Ohio 10 6 4 0 .600 -1.06 -3.56

See the asterisks? Those are the years the Bobcats won the East Division and played for the MACC. So what do you mean you're not competing for conference titles?

"We're not 9-3 every year!" So what? Very very few teams are. Can you tell me how that expectation is even reasonable?

I didn't even TRY to insinuate ALL Bobcat fans are dissatisfied with Husker-type success ... success that happened in the 70's, 80's and 90's, by the way. There have already been too many seasons in this 21st century since Frank was fired that fell far short of Bobcat achievements during that same period.

Check again the Bobcat W/L record from 2011-2014 and tell me Ohio is "a 6-6 or 7-5 program the last four years (about to become 5 years)" ... and this season isn't even over with yet. SHEESH!

And maybe L.C. can help out here because he's got Bobcat stats arranged every which way: I may be way off base but I doubt very seriously, based on the W/L record, that Ohio is 0-13 against MAC teams with winning records from 2011 - 2014.

allen wrote:
[Snip] The truth is that the program is slowly regressing, we are a top 80-85 team and with our campus and support we should be a top 40 program.

A top 40 program??? SERIOUSLY???? That's certainly ambitious for a school the size of Ohio - I hope you get there in my lifetime. But c'mon - every school in the snow belt has the same problem: kids want to play where the sun shines and the phrase, "wind chill" is unheard of. It doesn't mean Ohio will never get the talent it needs to excel in the MAC but it will be awhile before Ohio becomes the next BYU or the next Boise State or comparable school. And it will take more than just a head coach - it will take several alumni with very deep pockets, together with a willing administration, to make that happen (and not in Solich's time).

[Isn't Ohio famous for its outstanding School of Journalism or something? I hate to be a grammar nazi but I absolutely abhor the phrase "try and ...." "I'm going to try and show him how it works." AAAAARRRRRRRGGGG!!! Either you're going to try TO show him, or you're GOING to show him. It's like nails on a chalk board. I haven't seen it on this board, but I've run across it in books and novels and I just CRINGE!!! Can your graduates do something about that? It's becoming more and more common every day. )

What about Toledo, and Northern Illinois. Boise gets a lot of snow as well. Ohio has an experience you will never forget, beautiful coeds and prime real estate when it comes to recruiting. We need to stop making excuses and get better, we have done nothing yet, the best is yet to come. Ohio Cat Fan, monster's are not real, let it go.

MAC victories from 2011 onward.
2011, we beat Buff, Kent, Akron, Temple, CMU BGSU and Miami
2012 we beat Akron, UMass, EMU and Buffalo
2013 we beat Akron, EMU, UMass and Miami
2014 we beat Miami Buffalo, Akron and KSU
This year we beat Miami, Kent and Akron.

Temple was 5-3 in the MAC in 2011, they beat Akron, Kent UMASS, Miami, Buffalo and Ball State, they lost to Toledo and BGSU besides us. They were 9-4, they beat who they were supposed to beat.

That was the last MAC team that we beat that finished with a winning record.

We got absolutely destroyed by WMU, Beefs, BG.

Let me re-phrase that for you: In games which were not gimmes in the MAC when it mattered, we got absolutely destroyed.

Let me refine that for you: The main goal is winning MACC so what happens vs. Ball State and NIU can't redeem the absolute collapse during the key games of the season.

Anyone who's satisfied with the circumstances and results against WMU, Beefs, and BG...key games...thoroughly thrashed...well, happy Mediocrity.

Thank goodness for Boldon, Webb, Saul.

2015:

L WMU 49-14
L Buffalo 41-17
L BG 62-24

2014:
L CMU 28-10
L BG 31-13
L WMU 42-21
L NIU 21-14

2013:
L Buffalo 30-3
L BG 49-0
L Kent 44-13

2012
L BG 26-14
L Ball 52-27
L Kent 28-6

That's 0-13 in the last 13 games we've played vs MAC teams that finished above .500 in the MAC.

2012 9-4
2013 7-6
2014 6-6
2015 6-4

Not a sniff of competing for MACC.

Avg record 7-5

(I mistyped by saying 'about to become five'. My mistake.)

I know 2015 isn't over. We have a chance to salvage a decent season, but the three ass-kickings in mid-season when it really mattered will be hard to forget.

You were the one who compared Nebraska fans running Frank out to a vocal bunch of us here trying to run Frank out, calling us spoiled brats.

I was saying Nebraska fans were totally unreasonable with their expectations and their inability to be satisfied with 9-3 seasons. (Frank was 58-19 in 6 yrs at Nebraska...avg 9-3)

I'm not expecting 9-3 every year at Ohio. I'm expecting competitive football within the MAC vs the better teams. We are NOT getting that these last four years and there has been little to nothing to convince me that we'll get back to competing for MACC.

And you called me a spoiled brat for wanting a football program that is competitive with the best teams in their league.

If you're satisfied with where this program is, good for you. I call that mediocrity. I'd like to strive for more. If that's spoiled, so be it. I'm comfortable with my realistic expectations.

Toledo and Northern are not top 40 programs. Northern closer, but not there. We will NEVER, EVER sniff being a Boise. Don't have the money, nor put the money into the program like they do...and NEVER will.

You say solich hasn't shown you he can take us to a MACC but he has been too it 3 times. Add that to the fact he is recruiting better than ever logic will tell you he will get us back.

Are any other Bobcat fans getting tired of seeing so much negativity from a very small minority on this board.?? I want to win a MAC championship probably as much as our kids and our coaches but it is a difficult journey. Solich and his staff have built this program to a place that hardly seemed attainable 11 years ago. The answer to this stupid question is not "If" we win a MAC championship but "when" we win it. I am staying the course and enjoying watching the process as we struggle to reach the top! Yes, I was at the Western game, and yes I was at Buffalo and at BGSU, so I realize that we are not where we want to be just yet. All in !

Isn't it likely to suffer when kids see or hear about us getting absolutely steamrolled...when they see that we don't always play our best players?

It's the minority which thinks that we're on the right track. And, they are incorrect.

You're not getting heat for thinking we can do better, even your absurd idea that Frank would resign mid season. You get heat for being repetitive and annoying.

Regardless of previous games -- and I was as disgusted as anyone -- we played a really good game against Kent. We imposed our will and dominated. No one said it makes up for those prior games but it was a good performance. Your comments are no where to be found. You just like to scream and yell and be noticed.

It's not worth the effort. I'm already on record as saying that 2015 would be substantially better than 2014, and that 2016 and 2017 would be Solich's best teams at Ohio, and also that the players who graduate in 2018 will leave having won more games than any other Bobcat class, surpassing the record of the class who graduated in 2013.

At this point the best thing to do is let the kids keep improving, and let them keep winning games. Some of the complainers will never admit they are wrong, and even if my predictions come true, they will still be unhappy and complaining.

From your initial reply to my post: "WE'RE NOT 9-3 EVERY YEAR!!! WE'RE NOT WINNING CONFERENCE TITLES! WE'RE NOT EVEN COMPETING FOR CONFERENCE TITLES!" I guess I misunderstood all you wrote there.

If you would please re-read my initial post, my point was that (many) fans were calling for Bob Devany's head following back-to-back 7-4 seasons; he went on two years later to win back-to-back MNC's. I also pointed out that (man) fans wanted Osborne's head because it took him 11 years to get back into the national hunt for another MNC, only to lose the Orange Bowl; it took him another 10 years before he finally won his first (of 3) MNC's, and if (many) fans had had their way he wouldn't have been around to coach those 3 MNC's in the first place.

My point was, and is, that the recruiting pipeline sometimes runs dry and teams have to rebuild where they once only had to reload. It happens. To the best of teams. To the best of schools. It runs in cycles. In good times those cycles go from 9-3 seasons to 11-1 or 12-0 seasons. Sometimes those cycles run from 6-6 to 9-3 seasons when building up from the depths of despair when the cycles were going from 2-10 to 5-7.

Also, "ass-kicking" against teams happens - not only by teams that are better, but sometimes embarrassing losses to teams you should NEVER, EVER lose to. Shit happens. Get over it and move on.

It takes TIME to build up a program ... and be honest with yourselves and recognize that Ohio does not (and may never have) the resources of the LSU's and the Alabama's and the Texas A&M's - in the physical size of the student body, the facilities that could attract the better recruits, in the depth of the pockets of the alumni.

I know ALL of you want the Bobcats to succeed - want Frank to succeed. So do I!!! But for some (too many on here) to be calling for Frank's head - and for all the wrong reasons - is beyond the pale.

Quick question about winning. Since teams in the MAC today can potentially play 14 games as compared to 10, 11 or 12 in years gone by, the statistic that I'd be most interested in seeing is what group had the best 4 year winning percentage. To me, that's a bigger deal that total wins (although I'll take a team with lots of wins too).

If you want a fact that mark a fine coach.

Your last two posts are classic Monroe.
I would opine that our recruiting is improving in spite of those beat downs you keep talking about.

There is no proof of any kind that we aren't playing the best players.

Did you ever look at Bill Hess's record at Ohio. He had some terrible years, but most alums credit him with his body of work as they say. He was a " fine"coach in most people's mind.

I also like how the negative nellies like you leave out the non conference wins over over +.500 teams as if they don't count for anything.

I would agree that win percentage is what matters, and honestly, the teams under Peden in the 20's and 30's no doubt had a higher 4 year win percentage than any modern teams.

I never once said we're on a level with Bama or LSU. That's silly talk.

I get ass-whippings happen from time to time. But in those 13 games we played within a TD once. ONCE. That's troubling.

Gimmie one reason in the last four years that gives you tangible belief we are going to compete for a MACC anytime soon. Just one?

I can't come up with any. That's what bothers me. We are regressing, not improving. We are watching BG, UT, WMU, CMU,NIU just lengthen their lead on us. If you can't see that, you're blind.

I applaud your commitment to things, but I'm sorry I will not stand by silent while we continue to fall behind. I will support this team and cheer them....but I will also state the obvious that we can be better. And my opinion is that Frank will not take us there. I'm sorry. At 70+ yrs old, his best days are behind him. This is a change that needs to be made. I know to a lot of you that's an unpopular opinion, but it's mine and I'm sticking to it. Trash it, mock it...do whatever makes you feel better. We'll never be a MACC team under Frank. Mark my words. And if I'm wrong, the champaign is on me in Detroit

it is unbelievable that grown men and women get upset when people tell the truth. We can be a Boise, we can be top 40 and Toledo and Northern are top 40 programs. I am only saying what the coaches and players say and think. Their goal is to win the MAC every year, they don't say lets go 6-6 and 7-5 and go to a bowl game. It's you mediocre people that do that, then to say you are tired of it. Grow up, face facts, we need to get better. We should not lose to anybody in the MAC by three touchdowns. Stop with the moral victories and the we beat Marshall and they won 9 games. That's the bull crap if there is any.

Nobody despises to lose more than I do. That's got me into trouble over the years, but it also made a man of mediocre ability into a pretty good coach. Woody Hayes
