Down 20-0 in the fourth, they pulled to 20-14 but threw an INT late to lose. God, we should beat them 50-0 next week.

If there is a time to let Windham start and give Vick some rest next week is the time to do it.

I totally agree. Vick needs a week off, and a chance to heal that ankle, wrist, elbow, etc. He is clearly Ohio's best QB when he's healthy, but he's not healthy, and he will be needed in the key games ahead.

If Sprague is ready, fine, but otherwise, hand the game to Windham, and let him get some experience in prime time.

I agree to rest Vick and maybe Duckworth can get his feet wet since he has already used his redshirt.

This will be "Miami" at home. Vick's Sr season. I expect him to start, though, coach Johnson needs to make every OL pledge in blood that Vick will remain untouched. Tell Vick he has three series to make some Sr. "Miami" memories. Then, whoever, Isphording thinks best.

This is about what I think will happen. If we get up 14-0 in the first quarter it will be Windham's game to finish unless he blows the lead

My line prediction: -19.5

Were you guys watching the game in Akron, because I was shivering away in the stadium. I don't know how any fan of this team can feel cocky after that performance. This team easily could have lost and if they did, it would have been because of its anemic offense -- and you guys are talking about sitting people like we'll just walk over an admittedly terrible FBS team? We had almost no first downs in the second half... against Akron. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad we're 4-1. I just don't have much cockiness in me after watching that offense today.

I have a tremendous amount of confidence in our D. So much that I think Fiami should be a blowout. Fiami did score 33 vs Cincy but Cincy's defense was horrendous before this past Thursday night. In Fiami's other games, the most they scored was 26 vs Presbyterian ... PRESBYTERIAN ... at home. They've had 14 at WKU and Kent, and zilch at Wis. And they haven't given up less than 20 vs any 1A team this season. Our D should be able to set up the offense with really good field position all afternoon. Akron is by no means a great, or even a mediocre, team. But they're much better than Fiami.

+1.

We won a game we didn't deserve to win. Thank Akron for a couple penalties that hurt them big time for scoring opportunities. We're banged up right now with Basham, Johnson, Vick and Sprague and others hurting. Windham looked gimpy after one hit. Need to get healthy soon.

How do you blow someone out when you score twice in a game?

UC is no slouch ... they beat Miami (FL). I was at that game. If we play as we did today it won't be any easy 'W'.

You don't. Unlike others I don't have rose colored glasses on. We have our work cut out for us the next few weeks until we (hopefully) get healthy.

Fiami isn't as good as Akron. They aren't even as good as SLU. They might not even be as good as Idaho. They aren't going to hold us to 14 points. This team scored 24 on Minnesota last week, and Fiami sure as hell isn't Minnesota.

Playing Miami will be just like having a bye week, meaning, it's impossible to lose.

I think this game coming up will be a good indicator of what the rest of the season will hold for Miami. They are reeling right now and can either pack it in or come out and try hard.

If we can get up by 21 points in the first half I think we can get them to quit.

We're talking about sitting him precisely because when he's healthy, he does a great job, but when he's gimpy and hurt, the offense struggles. So, if the choice is to keep playing him, never let him heal, and have the offense struggle all season, or, rest him, and try to get by, but then have him fully healthy a week later, which makes more sense?

Good point. Injuries are not part of football. (So, give the coaches a pass on any injury related problems.) And no other teams have to cope with injury problems.

Most folks agree that Kent has a very good D. Miami put up 416 yards against that D. A blowout would be nice but I don't expect it.

When I look over the Miami QB stats I see 7 TD's and 11 INT's.
When I look at fumbles 7 and lost 4.
Total turnovers in 5 game 15 or 3 per game.
With our "D" we should be able to have a turnover field day. I could see the "D" scoring 1 - 2 TD's off turnovers.
We can do this.

King of the straw man, there's a debate here about how/if to use our gimpy starting quarterback. the only excuses are the ones you're imagining so you can rail against them and annoy everyone for another entire week.

Good timing for an easier MAC East game. After two straight weeks on the road, it will be nice to get back to Athens for hopefully a big win.

Think we should build Windham into the game plan. Vick is too hurt to consistently rely on for now.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Fiami got half their yards in the last quarter, when Kent's D seemed to fall asleep with a 20-0 lead. And Fiami's last TD came after Kent fumbled the ball away on their own 35. I don't expect our D to let up. As for Fiami's D, in three games vs G5 schools they've given up 113 pts. For the season, they're 97th in 1A vs the run. They gave up a TD on a 75-yd run on a reverse yesterday. We should be able to run early and often on them, which should take the pressure off our QB.
