My ideal OOC schedule would look like this-

1 FCS team, always a home game.
1 P5 $$$, tough but winnable, always away.
1 P5 home-and-home, low level and winnable.
1 Top G5 home-and home. (Ideally I'd like to see Marshall on 4 off 2 with UC in the 2 off yrs.)

MY STATE. MY TEAM.

In general I agree with this philosophy, though I think Marshall should be every year, but I would also like to work in UC. Heck why not play Marshall and UC in the same year -- one at home and one away?

With UC's rivalry game against Miami happening every year, I doubt that they would have any interest in playing another MAC school every year as well. The best we can hope for, and have already accomplished, is a one-off situation like we have coming in the future.

The Sun Belt commissioner wants teams to stop schedule "money games," saying games against "peer conferences" are more important.

http://www.timesdaily.com/ap/sports/sun-belt-commissioner...

Some schools, though, said they expect to play more of those kinds of games to help fund the program.

2016 is also the year that Tennessee will be playing in the largest attended football game in history at Bristol Motor Speedway.

I'm fine with playing Cincinnati and Marshall every once in a while as part of my ACC with AAC/CUSA schools peppered in strategy. When we play them every year it makes the schedule feel too regional.

Most Memorable Bobcat Events Attended
2010 97-83 win over Georgetown in NCAA 1st round
2012 45-13 victory over ULM in the Independence Bowl
2015 34-3 drubbing of Miami @ Peden front of 25,086

How about scheduling a game at Paul Brown stadium?

I'm curious to know and discuss a few things about this thought, because multiple people have mentioned the idea in various threads. Unless we're playing UC or UK, I'm not sure where the value in this is. I can't see Ohio selling enough tickets to make this seem like a home game. I personally can't envision a scenario where a B1G school would play this game either.

Also mentioned was the idea of Cleveland, so it might make sense to look at them both. I just don't see the allure unfortunately. Maybe there's a thought I'm missing.

Get to the games in Athens. Recruit fellow alums to get back to campus for games. Make those Saturday games at Peden have an atmosphere. Why schedule anywhere else?

Nothing lends a solid start to the 2015 season as we're four days away better than a discussion about the 2016 sched!

Based on that and depending on the rest of the OOC schedule in 2017 and how good the MAC is, if Ohio ever wanted to make a run at a lucrative rotation bowl for the P5, 2017 would be the year.

Monroe thanks your right my focus is all off I have no idea what is going on this season, more focused on 2016. I simply posted the blurb about Purdue in 2017 after seeing it online and seeing no mention of it here.

Velley Cat...That's fine. I was more or less kidding around. ...Need more spark, more activity here any way that we can get it. Too quiet here with the season just a few away.

This would be the year to do it too with four Saturday home games by mid October.

I have a group of 16 heading down for Marshall. I sat and watched Bobcat TV with my eight year old for an hour yesterday. Believe me I'm ready for 2015.

I thought this schedule addition was OK until I found out that we are playing this game for only a 550,000 guarantee. It seems like all the athletic department cares about it close opponents that fans can drive to. The priority should be home/away series with Cincinnati, Marshall, Temple, UConn and Memphis in both major sports. I'd like to see a consistent non-conference scheduling philosophy in place.

You lost me, Wes. Playing close P5 opponents that fans can drive to, and where Ohio has a chance to win seems like a perfect strategy to me. I thought everyone was clamoring for more P5 games?

I agree. It works for me. I'm sure the athletic department likes get $1 million-plus sometimes, and it's fun to face a football powerhouse sometimes, but I'm glad we aren't that desperate for money that we have to have that kind of game every year, that we can get half as much and play someone we generally should have a better chance of beating.
