Shouldn't this be limited to players who have graduated? Hence, nix AJ?

Yeah if we're looking historically then you can nix AJ. How about you replace him with another favorite of mine Raynald Ray.

He's your nominee. If he's your favorite, then nominate him. If you want to want to withdraw it, then we can take his name off the list.

I was told he may not not be eligible. If he's eligible then I will keep AJ as my guy.

Bob Houmard and Dave LeVeck. Bob Houmard and Dave LeVeck.

Check out 1968, and you'll see why an apology is owed for not at least trying OUellette and Irons together.

Second for that one. I never saw him play but have heard much about him around here where he is from. He graduated in 1980. He started all 44 games in his career. He was an All-American honorable mention as a fullback his senior year and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Browns, though he never played in an NFL game. As I understand it, the Bobcats never intended to make him a featured back, but he just kept performing so well that he quickly became just that.

If Morsillo, with his 90+ yards for his entire career, can make the list....then I nominate Lakarlos Townsend! He ran for 1500 or so yards and 1500>>90. And his name is cool and he's from California:

Chad Brinker, not even close. To play against West Virginia, Iowa State and Toledo in three of the first four games his Junior Year averaging over 7 yards a carry was impressive not to mention he was already suffering headaches from the cyst between his skull and brain is amazing. Even more impressive was his ability to return his Senior year and willingness to move to fullback.

Lakarlos, was by far the most talented we've had in the past 30 years, however he ran behind the worse offensive line we've ever had as well. The guy had some great runs just to get back to the LOS.

Best Name Ever for OL: Wolfgang Kratzenberg of Ironton, Ohio.

A very under rated player from the early Grobe teams was Sid Hall who switched back and forth between linebacker and fullback. He played really well at fullback in the near upset of NC State which still ranks as one of the most gut wrenching losses I have experienced in person.

Some in the record book that haven't been nominated:
Arnold Welcher 1974-77
Bob Brooks 1958-60

Sid Hall seconded! Single digit (7) fullback with a neck roll and helmet visor. His style alone deserves a nomination. Ran for almost 500 yards from the FB position one year in a very crowded backfield.

Ahlberg was seconded in an earlier post. So was Tim Curtis.

We have had many more nominees with seconds than our poll can accommodate (max 10). I said at the outset that we'd just go with the first 10 nominees with seconds if that happened.

That doesn't mean we can't keep discussing our favorites (which I am very much enjoying, because I had never heard of many of these guys and it's always great to hear about team history), but I hope people aren't taking this too seriously with who is included in the poll and who isn't.

Maybe you could split into a couple of polls, tailback, fullback all-purpose back?

I didn't split it into tailback/ROADGRADERZ/APB divisions on purpose, because sometimes those lines get blurred. Since we have two RB slots to fill, what if we divide it into "Whipper Snappers" and "AARP Target Demographic" divisions?

Anything pre....Cleve? or maybe Burke? goes into one poll, and anything post- into another?

Or we just go with what it is and cut it off at the first 10 with seconds.

Suggested split: Pre-Grobe and Grobe & Later.

You could also do it as a 2-round affair. You could just do two polls of 10, and then take the top two from each group, and have a final runoff of four players.
