Last year, there were 20 news entries for the month of March / spring football info. This year, there have been two news items in March ??? Not exactly the best way to promote what is going on. If they don't have enough people available to cover the football program, go find some students. Aren't there sports administration majors who would love a link to the real world? I do not want to hear excuses about why OU football does not have adequate spring football coverage. It's unacceptable for a solid, Division I football program. Especially at a school with a good reputation for sports administration. Where is the disconnect ? Sad.

my bad, last year there were 12 entries in March, not 20 as I previously stated. But damn, wouldn't think we could get more updates in the middle of spring football? How about some pictures?

I am hoping to see some reporting for today's scrimmage. Video of 2 plays at Twitter is it so far.

I watched the first half of the Ohio-NIU game last night and part of the issue I see is selecting the wrong coverage on defense, leaving a receiver open and then missing the yard saving tackle after that. Burrow and Albin you can't expect them to throw a perfect game but more strikes than balls are needed. The offense doesn't adjust well to opposing coverages instead hoping the 3rd, 4th and 5th options are available. Against lessor opponents dominating across the line of scrimmage is enough to win a game but for strong opponents the offense has to be geared around beating opposing teams secondary.

It's nice to see some stuff from Arkley as he reports a lot of solid, detailed information that fills in the gaps. Ohio is blessed to have such a competent, thorough beat reporter. He's been busy covering W. Basketball, for obvious reasons, and I was afraid he wouldn't make the scrimmage, but he did. To summarize some of the many blanks he filled in for me:
Position Changes/placements:
OL - Cooper and Anderson at OG, Murdock to OG from OT, Pruehs to C
S - Kyle Nelson from CB to S, Maxwell Howell from CB to S
DT - Casey Sayes from DE to DT on passing downs (if the other DEs remain healthy)
WR - Belack in the slot

Injury Status
OL - Lucas, Powell, Wood, Langenkamp all out
DB - Carpenter, Quallen out
RB - AJ OUellette was dressed, but didn't play
Also sat out the scrimmage - Dixon, Daz, Poling, Reid, Basham, Bass, Layton

I note that the scrimmage was focused specifically on a portion of the playbook, in particular screen passes, rather than the broad use of the entire playbook, so the results from it are going to be pretty skewed. Also, given that I expect this to be one of the best defenses Ohio has had, and given that the defense is normally ahead of the offense, I expect to see the offense struggle to move the ball all spring and fall. When that happens you always wonder "is the offense bad, or the defense good?". In this case, I expect it's a little of both, but by fall camp, I think it will be more the latter than the former.

I was really excited to see the comments on Windham. I thought he looked great in high school, and I've had high expectations for him. He showed a little of that potential late against BG last year, but given that he was well down the depth chart, obviously there were things to work on. In the scrimmage he was 5-7 with a TD, and another TD dropped, and after the scrimmage Isphording commented on how much the game has slowed down for him, while Windham commented that he still needs to improve on game management and running the offense. Hopefully he'll continue to improve as I believe he could be a real asset.

Hopefully not the fall. The O-Line should be better, no? If they are, we should move the ball. Yes?

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

I meant in fall camp, against the Ohio defense, not in games. I'm still thinking this Ohio defense has the potential to be exceptional, and it if is, the offense may be pretty good and still not be able to sustain drives.
