I predict that few on this board care and even fewer will watch.

I'll be watching and I care (BOO O$U!!!! Go Ducks!) because I love CFB.

I have an awful feeling about the game. I think O$U rolls them by 20. Maybe I'm just trying to set myself up for a very pleasant surprise if the Ducks can pull it out.

I expect Oregon to represent well. There will be more surprises from Oregon.

I've heard an unsubstantiated rumor that they have a fairly decent QB. ;-)

You aren't a fan of college football if this game doesn't interest you. I would watch if Houston was playing Hawai'i. Having a team that I have some passing familiarity with in it is just icing on the cake. The good news is that the absence of any rooting interest makes it pure enjoyment.

Two things I think I think.

1. Cardale Jones playing his 3rd game and having had success is likely to try "to do too much" as the saying goes. Whether it's committing turnovers or plays breaking down too soon, look for some disarray from the Buckeyes, which could be fatal.

2. And, if OSU doesn't turn over Oregon, I think the Ducks' offense is more than the A&M defense can handle.

If OSU plays under control and wins the turnover battle, I think they win impressively.

This is where I'm at too-I love football and there's only 4 football games left in this season so I'm watching every game that I can.

I always believed that the winner of the OSU-Alabama would win the national championship and I still thin k that's the case.

I'm a fan of college football. But ESPN has taken all the interest out of it for me. Tired of Herbie, Reese, Lou, Mark and the rest of ESPN's brood analyzing this thing to death. Even during college basketball broadcasts. And especially tired of the Columbus media giving 15 minutes of every half-hour newscast to it (although Cabot Rae had an interesting, albeit too short, piece on the museum that once was the Texas School Book Depository). Couldn't turn around this morning without hearing the O$U band on the radio today. All they need is a Super Bowl-type ungodly long halftime show to really kill any interest (not sure if they do). I've been hyped to death. I'll pass on this one.

I just don't think there is anything "college" about all this. These players and schools are so far removed from the real world it's not even funny. It's Phil Knight versus Les Wexner. It's money versus money, ESPN versus ESPN2. hype versus hype-ier. the more I hear, the less of a shit I give. I'll be rooting for Oregon, but I think osu wins handily... but my prediction is I won't know the result until I wake up Tuesday.

Oregon has been beaten 3 times in the last 2 years (Stanford, Arizona, and Arizona). In all three losses, they were outgained on the ground by a significant margin. In two of the losses, they were at least -2 in turnovers. None of the losses were in particularly close games (I watched the Stanford game. Even though the final was 26-20, that was only due to a couple late Oregon scores. Stanford dominated.).

So, my prediction is that it will come down (as it does so often) to Oregon's ability (or lack thereof) to stop osu's running attack, as well as turnovers. If Oregon can turn osu over early, get up, and force osu to throw the ball, I think Oregon wins by about a touchdown. If osu is able to run the ball and doesn't turn it over, I think osu wins by 14+.

Final prediction: osu 44, Oregon 30.

Except for the fact that Wexner doesn't give money to athletics. I think Oregon would be a lot better university if Knight worried less about buying them a football program and more about building them world class visual arts and medical centers.

History shows that with few exceptions, the team with the best player wins this game. Also, as Bobcatbob commented, I think Jones tries to do too much (or if they fall behind is asked to do too much). Oregon 38 - OSU 21

Les Wexner and his wife would like a word with you

Doesn't disprove my point one bit. So his wife made a $5M donation to name an athletic building after him for his birthday, which admittedly I didn't know. That is literally a drop in the bucket in the context of over $200M in lifetime giving.

My point stands that Oregon would be much better off as a university if Phil Knight shared Wexner's philosophy and priorities instead of plowing over $200M into an athletic department, particularly for a university that doesn't have an endowment much bigger than Ohio's.

He and Knight do, however, share a fondness for sweatshop labor.

You Phil Knight has any interest other than marketing Nike via his alma mater and maybe winning a few trophies in the process?

Or this, $300MM to date, and only a portion to athletics:

Knight has given $225M and pledged another $500M to the Oregon Health & Science University (which looks like it's not affiliated with U of O?)

Quote:
Oregon Health & Science University is a nationally prominent research university and Oregon’s only public academic health center. Its hospitals and clinics serve more than a quarter of a million patients every year with innovative care and treatment models based on the latest knowledge available.

http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2013/09/phil...

So to say he only gives to U of O's football program isn't true.

To hear the administration, the wealthy just don't give their share. They are just selfish and need to pay more and more taxes. Me I keep seeing examples of the wealthy being extremely generous and doing more for us with their gifts than the government.

And how many times can you run the exact same play with the exact same result. I love tight ends pulling with a good angle and guards pulling with a good angle. It makes the running game so much easier than the zone blocking. Wow, is this the men versus the boys or what. Going to be fun to watch the ducks throw the ball all over the field now.
