Here are attendance numbers for all FBS teams:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/jon-solom.../

I see that EMU had a 271% increase to 15,025, while Akron had a 49% decrease despite actually having a competitive team. What does that tell us?
1. First, it tells me that this must be the year when EMU needs to show 15k attendance to meet NCAA requirements, so they probably gave away a ton of tickets to Pepsi. I doubt that they ever had 8,000 at a game, much less 15k.
2. Next, it tells me that last year probably was the year Akron (and Ball State) needed to show 15k, so they played games last year. Ball State is down 38% this year, from about, um, 15,100 last year. Funny how everyone is able to hit almost exactly 15k every few years, when they need to.

Note: Here's an article about EMU's fake attendance numbers, and some mentions in the comments about massive ticket purchases by Pepsi

15% is still a decent number. If, say we had 8,000 season ticket holders...a 15% increase is a bump of 1,200. Most schools would take that.

That number was more like 4,000 season ticket holders at 2.5 tickets on average for 10,000 season tickets sold. That makes for 600 new season ticket holders including those who did the Tickets for Kids section. 400 legit season ticket holders for about 1,000 additional season ticket sold. Before Solich, Ohio was at about 1,000 season ticket holders so its been good growth but its leveling. Leveling when they've expanded the ticket sales team to 7 full time reps this season. The amenities in the stadium have got to be upgraded significantly if they want to attract significantly more fans.

Stop losing (loosing) so much. 15-16 in the last 31.

Winning cures almost every problem.

So, that's why you're saying it's so important for us to have effectiveness at D-line and tight end. Now I get it.

I think the basketball board needs your wisdom now, Monroe. There's been way too much losing going on over there recently. Lot's of youth on that team, too, as well as older players who seem to be underperforming compared to last year. Have you ever heard of a team getting a game into OT and then not scoring even one singe point in the extra stanza? I would think you'd find that totally unacceptable and be giving advice on offensive strategy for the BA multitudes. ;-)

When Better Call Saul has gone 10 years without a MAC title, you can bet that I'll perform a public service.

Until then, I'm calling it on football until there's improvement on the field. Look at the teams that we beat this year and tell me about the quality of those teams--not exactly overwhelming. Then, look at our losses. Ten years in and that's it?

Early Signs of Schizophrenia

--Replaying or rehearsing conversations out loud- i.e. talking to yourself (very common sign)

--The inability to experience joy or pleasure from activities (called anhedonia)

--Ruminating thoughts- these are the same thoughts that go around and round your head but get you nowhere. Often about past disappointments, missed opportunities, failed relationships.

Thank you for whatever it is that you just posted. I enjoy learning new words.

That still doesn't relieve in any way that we are decidedly MEDIOCRE over the last 31. 15-16 against dreadful MAC schools and some FCS schools, but not many good teams in there and the future--sorry--ain't gonna be too bright if we put a d-line on the field that doesn't make plays.

I'm not happy at all to write it...and no one seems to care or respond about it: But with not much size and no notable playmakers going to be aboard at d-line next year, we don't have a platform for wild success.

The % here who are satisfied with the last 31 is rather alarming. Again, look at the records of the teams in that last 31. We are not good. Given the last 10 years and recent trend, I'm dubious (who knew?!) about a marked reversal to the upside next season.

Good point. In fact, I'll extend that. The lack of a weighty/tough/play-making d-line means that our o-line doesn't practice against first rate, doesn't practice against true tough. That's gotta hurt when we face live, game d-line competition that is rugged.

Feel free to chime in about how, also, the lack of playmaking at TE leaves our offense less than potential.

Not every position is of equal importance. Gotta be strong at d-line and TE or potential is limited.

Good diagnosis Dr. Bcat2. Patient continues to talk to himself and then answer himself. He ruminates constantly. He seems somewhat depressed about the football season and can't cheer up, regardless of facts that contravene his repetitive argument. There are also elements of paranoia in that he seems to feel misunderstood, like everyone is against him. He keeps saying that people don't understand what he's saying and that many folks are content with a 6-6 season. In these feelings he has lost touch with reality because no one is satisfied with a 6-6 season. What therapy would you recommend, Doc?

I'm not sure who you're talking about but I recommend less emphasis on OHIO football and its averageness and more emph on OHIO winning sports such as volleyball and women's hoops this year.

Also, please attend to this: "something that actually exists; reality; truth:" It's the definition of "facts" from dictionary.com.

Apply it to 15-16 in the last 31, no one alive can remember when we beat a MAC team with an overall winning record.... vs 16-0 in first year MAC and 8-2 2nd year MAC after inheriting a program in shreds.

You'll be here all week. And so will I. So, Happy Holidays to you and Mrs. OCF!!

Dr. Bcat2 . . . notice how he repeats himself and then hallucinates about some 16-0 season in the mists of legendary past. Carl Jung I believe would say that it is some type of archetypal motif for hero with a shadow representation of anti-hero. He is in conflict with his own subconscious. The man needs therapy. Could you recommend the appropriate therapist?
