First of all, I turned off the TV at halftime and went to bed. My wife congratulated me on my maturity; in the past I would have simply sat there and dropped f-bombs for the rest of the evening. And no, I wasn't on chat last night.

BUT...for any of you who are saying "I told you so" to those who want Albin gone, I present the following text copied from the front page of this site. This little gem describes how we got our game-tying touchdown against one of the worst DI football programs in the nation. In the last game of the year, we still can't frigging avoid the Keystone Cops routing inside the 10 yard line:

"Ohio’s game-tying touchdown came early in the fourth quarter with the aid of Miami penalties on back-to-back plays on third-and-goal from the 1. It appeared the Bobcats had false started but the RedHawks were called for a penalty because a player was faking the snap count. Then Vick was brought down for a loss of 8 yards on a scramble, but it was nullified by a facemask penalty.

After the Bobcats false started, Vick threw to Jordan Reid for a 5-yard touchdown pass that made it 21-all with 11:28 to go."

I think you're right that it is an example of the offense's biggest struggle this year. The Bobcats generally have moved the ball, but far too often drives stop in opponents' territory, even in the red zone.

I think this is really reaching for a negative.

The only reason that Miami was within 3 points was because the Cats shot themselves in the foot for the first 35-40 minutes of the game.

The Cats came back to beat a terrible (but somewhat inspired) team by three points to win this game. I think the bad play evened out. However, when this team could have quit, it did not. How many games have penalties hurt our chance to win? It happens.

As for those penalties, it is not unlikely that the Cats would have put it into the end zone anyway.

I hope you slept well and have a happy holiday weekend.

Agreed. To be expected, but disappointing nonetheless.

I've seen crazier things happen.

I will readily admit that Miami made it incredibly easy to take that game away.

A third down face mask rescued the drive on the first offensive touchdown. The lateral off the runner's back. The second third down facemask is the one you reference, which set a world record for length of time elapsed from first and goal to touchdown. The arm punt on third down from the end zone. The time management within 15 yards of a field goal try to win.

And I will readily admit that some sort of change is needed to somehow inject new blood or a new point of view into what I believe is a tired offense. And I urgently hope Tuesday's result and the probability of a bowl bid and the extension of an eligibility streak that few can match do not cloud the judgement that it is necessary.

But I won't let any of that temper the joy in beating Miami for the 8th time in 9 years. That is a sweet nectar I do not grow tired of sipping.

I'll take the embarrassing in victory anytime over embarrassing ourselves by losing to Miami.

I have to laugh as the juxtaposition of threads. Consecutive threads ask "was it an embarrassing victory" and "was it the greatest MAC win".

Or, maybe it was neither the greatest victory ever, nor the most embarrassing victory ever....
