Sat out the first half due to the targeting penalty from last week, but played like a man possessed in the 2nd half. Blitz helped cause the fumble that led to Ohio's 2nd touchdown. Also got great pressure off the edge rushing the passer.

There are many position groups that need to take the next step for Ohio to be a good team next year. But I've been blown away by the linebacker play. I'm sure I'm overlooking someone, but I think this may be the best linebacking trio since Muncy/Russ/Graham in 2006.

Noted. He has strength/speed that are uncommon. However, at the end of the season he missed two halves, basically a whole game because of a cheap shot. It may not have been at even half speed, but, that should not be tolerated. I don't remember that being Solich football. I hope it is not something officials discuss as they prepare to work an Ohio game.

You admit it was at half speed and yet you can't let it go? Compared with the chop blocks and cheap shots we've seen this year, this was not bad at all. IMHO, it was a personal foul but by no means something you should sit out a game for. If you disagree, I suggest you go watch the film again. The NIU player jumps right back up. Why? Because there was barely any contact.

Back to the point...I totally agree. I think Brown is a key piece of our defense. When he's in the game things just seem to work and we play with lots of intensity. And we get two more years of BB!

They don't penalize for damage inflicted, they penalize the act and that video will be a training video example of what a player can't do.

I'm kinda ok with how things worked out, because if Brown had been wreaking that kind of havoc in the first half, Miami would not have had the misguided hope that was so much fun to watch evaporate.

It looks to me that on one of those replay angles you can see his helmet make contact with the other player's face mask, which I believe in situations like this counts as helmet-to-helmet contact. I'll grant it wasn't much, but I think the refs were technically correct, and Brown should not have lead with his helmet in any event.

When I saw it live, I wasn't sure that he didn't trip, but in watching that replay, the penalty and ejection are both clearly justified. He definitely looks like he led with the helmet, which is the kind of hit that could get him a serious neck injury.

When the rules committee decides to make a point of emphasis on a special kind of play it immunizes officials on borderline calls like this.
The number of concussions and spinal injuries necessitate that something has to be done to protect the game.
Too bad that BB was suspended but it is good for the game. I really like his speed and open field tackling ability.
