I wholeheartedly agree! The Browns need to start Manziel.

I'd be okay with letting Albin go. So much wasted talent at WR. Defense will be very good next year. Offense needs updated.

I'll tell ya where we'll go. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talkin' bout a little place called... ATHENS.

I agree. We need to change back to last year's blackout jersey. Much better design than this year's version.

Here's a change I would suggest.

When I'm watching "The Voice" or "America's Got Talent", and some good act is performing their song - their shot at just 15 minutes of fame, and the network edits in crowd noise - all that hootin' and hollerin' over top of the performance. I'm like "Bro, I know and you know that the crowd is polite and waits until the end of the song to go nuts. You're not fooling anyone." All of TV is fake. I know that. Can you at least try to mask it? It would make for a far more genuine show. To quote "Slapshot", "I'm listening to the f*cking song!"

I am finally ready to explore a change of conference. I have long dismissed those on here who have dissed the MAC but we can't win in this conference and the conference has no desire for us to win. Last year we were the victims of one of the worst calls in college football history. The ref wasn't fired. Tonight a call was changed from incomplete to complete before review to cost a chance at tying the game or winning. As the only charter member and the leader in attendance you might think the conference would try not to screw us but it seems quite the opposite. Whither it is just complete bush league or nefarious I feel it is time to explore and see if any options exist.

Albin called a fine game tonight. I hope to see a few WRs take a step forward next year so we can actually have a passing attack. I do wonder how much Vick can improve though.

We got pummeled on special teams tonight.

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

In terms of WR is Cope still injured. I thought he'd be ready to go tonight, but I don't believe I saw him in the game. Anyone else see different?

yes, let's move to a new conference. Which one shall we chose? How about the B1G, or the ACC? Do you have a preference? We'll have Jim Schaus inform them that we're joining, sign some papers, Bob's your uncle, and just like that all of our problems are solved.

Btw, I can't help but notice you don't seem to be too upset about the offensive pass interference call against NIU that gave them 1st and 25 on their own 15. And that worst call in the history of the world that we were victims of last year gave the other team 2pts early in the 3rd quarter, that's not the reason why we lost by 27pts.

Blaming the conference or the refs for our shortcomings is a cop out, and implying that there is a conspiracy against us or that the conference likes us but doesn't "like us like us" and only wants to be friends is just silly. We're not owed special favors.

Albin called a fine game? He's not capable of that. The best I can say is that he was better than he's been.

Let's keep calling those qb draws! The more we run them, the more effective they are.

Our receivers--mostly on those long balls on which NIU got called for intereference--were breaking away. Need an arm that can throw to our receivers distance.

Honestly, I see both sides. It's hard to argue that we've had unprecedented success under the current regime. But at the same time, I feel like we could have been doing so much more. It's dissatisfying.

At the end of the day, who truly thinks any change would be made? I for one feel that Frank would never dismiss his longtime coordinators. They will be here until Frank retires, at which point they will be out of jobs and likely become position coaches elsewhere (simply not enough success to warrant a D1 coordinator job).

If you watched the Sebastian Smith call it was clearly a complete pass and the replay showed a fumble well before a knee hit the ground. We didn't deserve that call and we didn't get it. The attendance is still within the MAC range while on top. We wouldn't be leading the conference in attendance if Marshall was in the MAC.

The media guides tout how great it is that the HC, DC, OC have been around for 10 years. There won't be a change. Everyone knew this was going to be a rebuilding year. At least we have 5 wins. If we get a bowl there is a good shot at winning it with the way this team is improving. This NIU team we played destroyed Northwestern earlier in the year.

They put up some really gut-punching stats on ESPNU last night that made me feel reaaaaalllllyy jealous:

-Since 2010, NIU is 2nd in the country amongst FBS teams with 54 wins. The other three teams in the top four were Alabama, Oregon and FSU.

-NIU is 19 for their last 20 in road games. The only loss coming this year to Arkansas.

In that time frame since 2010, their overall record is 54-12 amongst three different head coaches. And they've done it in the far better division of the MAC.

Just makes you wonder what Ohio is missing.

From a birds eye view in the stands, it appeared that the ground caused the fumble. However, my problem isn't with that, but the fact the play was blown dead as incomplete pass as soon as it hit the ground. I could hear the whistles, so I'm sure the players could. The recovery part is the mistake.

Northwestern, the Northwestern who has beaten; Penn State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame?

Favorable geography. NIU is the only G5 school in Illinois and isn't too far from Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Iowa. For just about any prospect in the Upper Midwest that isn't quite up to B1G standards, NIU is the next logical choice.

Ohio has to compete with Toledo, BG, Kron, Kent, Fiami, and UC for the in-state talent osu doesn't want.

Then go elsewhere. Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Pennsylvania are close too. Not that Kentucky and West Virginia are rich in talent, but go out and find players. Don't just hope kids from Ohio to pick you over six other schools.

Still waiting on 9704 to list his specific changes in the thread that he started.

I think we are seeing the ramifications of the 2010 recruiting class not working out. How many seniors were honored last night? I have been pleased with recent recruiting classes. The number of underclassmen who are holding their own and generating some wins is encouraging for the future. Go back to season prediction threads. How many of us honestly thought we were MAC East contenders this year?

In the past, I, like many, have been highly critical of Tim Albin's decision-making with BUTM. I'm no LC, but I feel like we are mixing up pass and run better this year and we have a QB who will keep on the read option. We'll finish 6-6, as I predicted, but I think next year will be a very, very strong season.

Bold prediction: We go undefeated in non-conference play next year.

There is no infrastructure that NIU has that we do not. Also, our budget is higher and we pay our coaches significantly more. Sorry...not buying it.

Oh, I don't disagree. We have made a point the past several recruiting classes to target Ohio more than Florida/California/JUCO/etc. There are advantages to that, and disadvantages to that.

We can (and do, and will continue to, I'm sure) bicker on here about we need to recruit this state or that state; or no, Ohio is fine, look at the recruiting rating numbers; no, look at the results on the field; the results are improving; no, they're not; yes, they are; no, they're not; yes, they are.....

I'm just sort of "meh" about it at this point. We have shown the ability to beat the teams we are supposed to beat, and lose to the teams we aren't supposed to beat. That's definitely true this year, and I think is generally true of the past couple years.

Where we go from here, I don't know. I'll keep buying season tickets, and I'll keep going to games and watching on TV and checking BA 30 times a day, because I'll keep hoping that maybe eventually we'll win one we probably shouldn't and my needle will move from "meh" to "excited".

But it's looking like that won't be until next year, and that's a bummer right now.

Muck Fiami.

I agree with you. My problem is, how far down does the "meh" feeling go? If some of the fans are feeling that way, then who else is? Apathy doesn't translate well into winning football games.

Seriously? We have literally the smallest, or one of the smallest stadiums in the FBS. We have a small and antiquated weight training facility, we just built an IPF when most the MAC has had a similar one for years, and we have to beg, steal and borrow just to build that and an academic building. Were it not for the Walter family's donation, we would not have an IPF right now. And wasn't there a news story that NIU is committing another $75 to $100 million to its athletic department and is expanding their football stadium to 40,000?
