If we win Saturday I think we can win out. If not we probably can win our last 3 and go 7-5.
Coaching staff gets my kudos for improving each week.

Honestly would not put money on this game and I did not do the fundamental analysis to back this.

I like our chances of winning when the spread is 10 plus on a conference game.

If the boys keep it close in the first quarter this will be one heck of a dogfight.

Still time to make it to Kalamazoo if we hurry. Shall I pick you up?

Thanks but from a previous post, you drive way to fast for me. Eating chili down by the Farmers Market here in Athens seems like a safer way to spend the afternoon. :)

Just remember we are told that OHIO is young and inexperienced; the coaches old and experienced.

What that means, I'm not sure but going out to rake leaves now is considerably more enjoyable than watching any longer.

Is it just me or do the Broncos actually have oars on their jerseys?

What happened--we got the three turnovers that the experts here said would get us to victory? But it's 35-14 mid 4th qtr with our offense responsible for only 7 points.

Hope is okay. But reality has to be a factor, too.

My eyeballs apologize. It's the statistics and the improving. We are much better than we actually are.

I'm coming around to see the light, the boyz are improving:

Two straight weeks of not giving up two touchdowns early in the first Qtr

Significant reduction in penalties and just two personal fouls.

The long ball to Cochran was the awesome capping of a 95 yard drive that we haven't witnessed this season.

Defense shuts em out in the 3rd qtr

Won the turnover battle

The coaches looked really into it on the sideline

This year's team is just unlucky that they don't get to beat up on Eastern and UMass

And Monroe, end it today. The offense showed imagination, in the second Qtr after calling a timeout on 3rd and two, the Bobcats brought a man in motion from the top of the TV screen then, he TURNED AROUND and went back the other direction. It didn't result in a first down or anything but you've got to admit that it shook up WMU.

And Monroe, on offense the OHIO QB did go under center proving the experts wrong about how dangerous it is for that exchange. A fumbled snap may have caused us a chance at a field goal.

We would beat up on EMU. UMass, I'm not so sure about.

Fortunately, we're catching Buffalo and NIU in down years, at home. Win the next two and we don't have to worry about beating Fiami just to break even this year. We'd be looking at beating Fiami to secure a bowl bid.

Vick looked good. Team-wise, pass O and run D were fine. WRs had a good day in many ways.

WMU had a very efficient short passing game, so bringing pressure which is normally Ohio's refuge was not at all effective today. Terrell was always able to get the ball off. The targeting call did not help (it was the right call although I think Ingol meant to lead with his shoulder and his head just got there first). In general defending the pass has been a problem this season. The two elite WRs we've faced, both named Davis, have had career numbers.

Running the ball without Ouellette has also been difficult. I'm not really sure why. I do think Vick adds a dimension, with his passing accuracy and range, that could help open up the run game in the remainder of the season.

We've got 11 days to prepare for Buffalo and then 13 days to prepare for NIU, and 7 days to muck Fiami. I believe with a healthy Vick and Oullette in the lineup we can beat any team in the MAC, without them I doubt our ability to get a first down. Let's hope these long prep weeks give our guys time to heal up.

I think we are improving to the point we might play better maybe sometime and come close to almost not only winning statistically but also maybe winning the game. Come on, we lost ugly.

As for the rest of the year, being happy that other teams in the MAC are not at their best is not exactly a rousing endorsement for OUr Bobcats. As bad as the MAC is we ought to have a much better record than we do. Of course there is the injuries, the stupid penalties, the lack of talent, the lack of experience, the lack of scoring, the occasional lack of concentration on kick-offs and punts, and the blocked field goals. Heck, without these issues we might be undefeated. If we correct everything we could compete with anyone. Like my HS coach used to say when somebody used the "if only" phrase; "Yeah , and if my aunt was a man she'd be my uncle". (He was a little more graphic).

I listen, watch or attend every game. I never leave early or turn off the game. I cheer hard and love every good play by my team. The fact that I cannot see much positive about this season or last season doesn't mean I am anti Bobcats. My green colored glasses are scratched and my green kool-aid has been diluted.

"It could be worse" should not be the new catch phrase for the Ohio Bobcats.

I can't believe much of what I am reading on here. I also wonder how people will spin it if the Buffs, NIU and Miami all beat us?

This started out going really well... then went completely south. I have no problem saying that the better team won... but when that is a weekly thing, it's tiresome. I think Western was better than us. They were coming in hot from their past couple victories and I honestly would have been shocked if it were a really close game. This is not saying that I was happy with today, but it's just the reality of it.

If some injured guys get back into the swing of things, this could be a wild November coming up. Buffalo isn't very good and has no coach. I think we will win that one. Northern Illinois is themselves in name only. Eastern hung (hanged? To our grammar guru's, which is correct?) with Northern Illinois until late in that game, Kent did the same thing. They're VERY beatable, especially at home. Then, we get Miami in a game that will be a fight for a potential bowl berth. I know things are looking grim, but we have a real shot in the final stanza of the season. As bad as this season could turn out to be (which is also a very real possibility) it could also turn out to be the shot in the arm this program needs right now and especially into the post/offseason, where we can capitalize on some momentum rather than pray that 2015 will show 2014 to be a fluke.

Question: how many of those 3 games are on national television?

Forget about arguing over how we may or may not end the season, we are in year 10 of Frank & Co. so the question should be, why are we where we are this far into this regime and why do we continually hope that maybe in 2 years things might brighten up a little. Seriously?

I agree with your post. I wasn't able to watch the second half, but clearly Ohio was much better with Vick in, and they played well, the second half. The two long drives, drives that finished, were nice to see.

No offense, but could you explain what point you a are trying to make with the 10 year comment? All coaches have years that are better than others, and year that are worse. It was a given going into this year that it was going to be a down year. Even in Solich's down period, (the last 2 1/2 years), Ohio still has a better record than any time since the 1959-64 period.

The players are young, and improving, though not as fast as we had hoped. They really need an off-season in the weight room, and they will continue to improve next year. Virtually everyone will be back.
