Also, with all the hype comes a lot of focus; he's been double-teamed when he's in. That's one reason why Poling was so effective against UK. With a blitzer on each end and one up the middle. Or lots of guys straight up the middle. Wasn't working against stupd cow. Watching NFL last week, I saw blitzes effective from overloading one side such that a well-coordinated O-line (such as stupd cow clearly had) couldn't handle it. There was just too much manpower coming from one side (preferably forcing the qb to scramble to his 'wrong hand' side). We can talk about how young and inexperienced our offense is but our super experienced defense just got assaulted to the tune of 700 yards. Seven. hundred. effing. yards. Somehow, the word got out about our offensive and defensive schemes, because they just don't seem to work against anyone. Kent is a joke, so I don't really take any solace in the fact that we finally managed a three-point victory against a crappy team that for some inexplicable reason has been in our head so badly in recent years. They then lined up quickly on 4th down and ran an inside run that got the first before the Chiefs could get settled (the Broncos hadn't substituted but the Chiefs where trying to shuffle in DLs and weren't fully lined up; since the Broncos didn't substitute, the refs didn't have to stop play for the Chiefs to line up). Yeah, stuff happens, but right now it looks like a disturbing trend. twice in one drive, several 3rd and longs converted by Kentucky the week before. In the first 12 games last year he had 30 tackles, 8.5 TFLs and 6.5 sacks. Tackles are up but TFLs/sacks are down. He's second on the team in sacks, behind Poling. The top three in TFLs on the team are linebackers (Johnson, Poling & Brown). Because of last year, he's probably getting a lot of attention in opponents' game plans. We will get by. We will get by. Anyone got the skinny on this? Last word was that he had been suspended due to some undisclosed rules violation, and placed on the scout team. It was not disclosed how long his punishment was for.
