are we supposed to be surprised that Marshall fans run their mouths nonstop behind the safety of the interwebs but then are sweet as molasses in person? their frailty is one of the (many) things I love about them.

Also irksome and so typical of stupd cow:  We've beaten them three in a row but there seems to be so much denial that we've been better than them lately.

I'm sorry, I respect you as a poster 66, but why do you and the regular group of you State apologists always have to go back to this. Of all the State haters I know, which are varied and myriad, not one suffers an inferiority complex. Please stop and come up with something that is actually representative of reality.

I'm sorry but I am not in any way a State apologist. I try to be a realist and state it like I see it, good or bad. Is like to have a dollar for every post on here about the Buckeyes

Alleging that anyone has an "inferiority complex" is weak logic. You're presupposing a condition without any supporting objective evidence. And to top it off, the person who has to shoulder the claim is trapped because of the very nature of the allegation.
It'd be like if I said, "colobobcat you're in denial."
What are you going to say? No I'm not in denial.
Had to look up inferiority complex to make sure I was not far off from what I thought it meant, I still think that's it a problem with some of our fan base.
You may be a realist, but your logic is suspect.

May be, but I'm not a State apologist. I had to look up the definition of inferiority complex to make sure that I wasn't far off, I'll stand by my allegation that it's a problem with some bobcat fans.

You were better in 2011, way better. 2012, it was roughly an even matchup and you won fair and swuare IMO. 2013 we lost because of mistakes (literally mishandled a kickoff and handed you a touchdown if you remember, among the other 4 turnovers). You beat us last year, but by no measure were you the better team at the end of the season. And i think most of your fans would agree with that.

Thi season, is yet to be determined. By official rankings and on paper, the all say we are better. Do we show up and play with the heart and intensity needed to win? Who knows.

I have a great deal of respect for Ohio. And will be cheering you on against UK. But im not disillusioned about you being a better program some years, nor am i blind to the fact that we have also been better some years as well. But they play the games because the best team doesn't always win.

Hmm...after two teams meet, you still wanna hang your hat on the argument that the best team doesn't probably didn't win?

I agree with our guest. Last year, they were the more talented team...we should be realistic about that. And as he/she mentions, that hasn't always been true (a concession we rarely get from a Marshall fan!)

Look at how each season played out.... aruing that Ohio was a better team last year is just silly. Im trying to be reasonable here but its funny that you all accuse herd fans of not being reasonable, yet try to argue that a team that lost their bowl game to ECU, which marshall pounded 59-28, is better than a Marshall team who went to maryland, and beat them in the military bowl convincingly.

Thank you to the few ohio posters who iare reasonable.

Its about match ups. OHIO's D matches up against the Marshall offense. OHIO knows Marshall and how to shut them down or atleast contain them.  And Marshall D coaches do not know how to adjust and stop the slant OHIO ran all night in key situations to get first down after first down to keep drives alive.

It's kind of weak to play the comparative score game when you have a head to head game, but you can play the comparative score game the other way, too. Note that Ohio also beat NTSU, who easy beat both Rice and MTSU, both of which beat Marshall.

What you don't take into account, goherd, is that last year's Ohio team was anything but consistent. They had talent, and they played well at times, while at other times, they did not. When to 2013 Bobcats were off, they were really off, but when they played well, they played very well. If you want to factor in consistency, then yes, Marshall was no doubt better, and their record shows that, but if you want to extrapolate that to the general statement that Marshall was "better", it doesn't necessarily follow.

Marshall beats ECU beats Ohio = Marshall is better
Marshall beats Maryland = Marshall is better
Ohio beats North Texas beats Rice beats Marshall = doesn't matter
Ohio beats Marshall = doesn't matter.
Ohio beats Marshall 3X in a row = it doesn't matter + black jerseys + it was Ohio's Super Bowl + referees + Ohio's punter faked it and that's classless.

Herd logic.

I wont argue that you have a better coaching staff. I think Solich is a great coach, and Doc, quite frankly, is a moron and finds ways to minimize a teams potential week in and week out.

And for all the other comparitive crap, 😄 i wasn't going there unless its somewhat relevant. 10 wins and finishing with a win over an acc team and #29 in the ap poll is objectively better than where ohio finished. I would much rather hve been a fan of our team last season.

That being said, please bring a few thousand fans to huntington this season and make it a great atmosphere. This is going to be a great match up and a very good game. I love being at the joan when we have 30k+, its a blast.

Marshall ended up having a much better season.  And, by the end of the season, a better team than Ohio.

But, Ohio sure has 3 straight years of bragging rights.

I'm glad its a Noon start in 2 weeks.  Bright sun and and early start may keep the crowd a bit subdued.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....

You finished exactly the same as Ohio in the AP rankings- not ranked.

We were ranked #29. I would remind you how the AP poll works but not sure you would get it anyway.

I find it odd that when I look up last years AP Top 25 Final Poll, there are only 25 teams on it.  I thought for sure that goherd25 would be correct and there would be more than 25 teams in a Top 25 Poll, guess I was incorrect.

You'd have to learn how it works before you teach me how it works. I've actually had a vote in media polls, but please, instruct me.

Here goes nothing.

The AP poll ranks teams by points, onviously in descending order. There are 60 voters that submit a ballot ranking teams from 1 to 25. A team ranked 1 gets 25 points, a team ranked 2 gets 24, etc.... all the way to 25 for 1 point. Once all ballots are in, the points are added. Most points is first, 2nd most 2nd etc. The poll highlights the top 25, but #26, #27 and so on, come in where those schools received points... you simply keep going from most points to least.

You will see it listed in media reports etc, as #29 if you are 29th in points. Fairly common actually. So it is entirely accurate to say your team is ranked #29 when it has the 29th most points in the AP poll.

I'm with goherd here. I don't care how many times you voted in the AP poll JSF. Literally, and for all intents and purposes, Marshall did not finish "exactly the same as OHIO". Marshall finished a more valued football team at the end of last season.
