Several players said this week, despite the trials and tribulations of two-a-days, they’ve never had more fun during August. Ohio coach Frank Solich said the reason for that goes to the team’s leadership core. He said the difference between 2013 and 2014 was noticeable.
“We didn’t have the spark you’d like to see,” the coach noted. “We have better leadership in this group. I can see that. I’m really pleased with this football team and what they’ve got done.”
This is the third or fourth time I've seen quotes from players and coaches that not only praise this year's leadership but also berate last year's. I don't know if these are just meant to say that we've moved on to a new era of Ohio football, or if they're also throwing last year's leaders under the bus. Anyway, it's good to see that this year's team is anxious to avoid the letdowns of the past two seasons. My favorite philosopher said "Half this game is 90% mental" so we might 45% there.
