Grad transfer PF from William & Mary. Had somewhat of a "breakout" year this past season after coming off the bench in his first two years, average 10 points and 5 boards a game. Played alongside two other guys who were a little smaller than him but they all averaged around the same rebounds. The other two were named to All-CAA teams.

Saul mentioned in the Columbus Caravan they were looking for a big. If Ohio can't get a big transfer from a high major, I think you've got to get someone like this. The kid can obviously play, he put up some good numbers against good competition. The CAA is a good league, and William & Mary played both Duke and Louisville this past season. They also played CMU and he did pretty well.

Obviously he's not gonna come in and blow doors off people, but this is a piece you need to make a tournament run. He's a solid player who could help spell some minutes in the front court for Jason and Doug if they get in foul trouble. I like some of his highlights here on the Verbal Commits page. Has some nice post moves, runs well, nice dunks and moves without the ball.

This post says he has a 94.9% foul rate, meaning he gets to the foul line a lot.

When you think about it, what are Saul and Co really looking for? A starting big man? No. Of course we'd rather be amazed by some high major looking for redemption, but for a thin front court like Ohio might have, bringing a guy like this in for a one year rental would be a good get.

This guy would be a good get for any team. Good find!

I love a guy with smooth post moves. JC has them. Tone had them. Big Reg had them. I don't believe Doug has them yet but he's so strong and hustles so he's a big key. This guy would be a great get and I don't know if he'd just play a few minutes. I could see him playing with Jason Carter as the 5th starter so that Laster could keep coming off the bench. 6-7 Block, 6-9 Carter, 6-9 Whitman.

A guy can dream I guess! He is from Lexington. I could see him going to Northern Kentucky. Up and coming program from a slightly bigger conference.

Tell him about the home football game vs Fiami on Halloween night.

That's worth being in Athens for, right?

Wow, Saul stole a player from Kansas! Either in a few short months of practicing in Kansas, Jack saw that he did not fit in their system or could not put up with the personalities in Jayhawkland. I have never heard of any player changing schools so quickly without starting classes.

I think it has more to do with top prospect Marvin Bagley possibly reclassifying to the 2017 class and Bill Self telling Whitman that he doesn't have a scholarship for him anymore....

Sorry, it seems there's some missing information. How did you jump to this?

Bill Self took away a scholarship from a player to possibly give it to another on a maybe? Either he gets Bagley on a long shot, while he is considering about 5 other schools and if the NCAA will grant him immediate eligibility with only a month or so before fall classes begin, or he has a open scholarship for upcoming season.

The #1 recruit in the country vs a grad transfer from William & Mary.....yes, I think Self would take that risk. This is just my opinion, I don't know if that is the case or not.

Well, when I first heard the news, I stood on my toes, bent my knees slightly and jumped as high as I could with my arms extended above my head. I think I yelled yes at the height of my jump. I got weird looks from wife and daughter after I did this, but they always think I am strange.

How much do you want to bet that Jack Whitman no longer has a good opinion of Bill Self and Kansas basketball?

Did I miss the part where it was mentioned that he or we were even connected? All I read was that he was no longer at Kansas.

Sorry, I read into the initial post too much. With this long and boring summer in Bobcatland, I jumped to conclusions. Forgive me for making an ass of myself. It was a good fantasy tho.

I've updated the title of the thread so as not to confuse anyone else who's brain is currently being boiled by the humidity of the Ohio summer sun.

For the love of all that's holy, don't tell your wife and daughter.
