Kid likes to shoot outside. Gotta like a big man who can stretch the floor.

Just watched this game of his from 2016. Looks like he has some nice post moves in addition to his 3 pt shot. The only thing that I saw (Not that I know anything, really) was that he was a bit lacking in foot speed and basically loped back a few times during quick transitions. Better strength and conditioning hopefully will correct that.
Lastly, after watching a minute or two of the 2015 games on Youtube, he has definitely put on weight and strength from his sophomore to junior year so, it looks to be something he has been working on.

This recruit is just another example of Saul recruiting smart, skilled, big men who can shoot and pass and defend. I guess versatility is the word he's looking for when they start recruiting.

Such a weird article.

"Ohio's roster includes 6-8 Medina graduate Kenny Kaminski and 6-7 forward Jaylin McDonald of St. Ignatius. Kaminski has one more season of eligibility after transferring from Michigan State, so he will be off the roster once Gareri arrives for the 2017-18 season.

McDonald, however, is entering his sophomore year with the Bobcats"

What a day at the Convo.....Wow!

Ok, so we have our stretch 4s that Saul loved at NDSU in Carter and Gareri...we have our athletic wing in Culver. We have our wings/guards in Darty, Gollon and Block. We have our big post in Taylor and an X factor in Dozier. That's our young guys. Now we HAVE to add a point guard for Simmons replacement and we HAVE to add another big. Perhaps an athletic rim protector.

Nice pickup. I only watched the short highlight clips but didn't see any dunks so not sure how athletic he can be. He does have a nice outside shot and should effectively fill the Kaminsky role when he leaves.

I also thought it was odd, showing rather limited research if the only other players they'll comment about are from the Cleveland area.

Do we really HAVE to add another big in this class? Carter, Dozier, Taylor, Gareri are all capable players, and 3 of the 4 of them are 3* kids.

Agreed that the PG is a must, and we know Saul thinks so as well, but maybe a player who can be more versatile is a better fit than another big post player. Or perhaps a transfer would be a good idea with that last scholarship?

I'm pretty confident the next two should be PG and athletic wing. Wouldn't be surprised to see another big though, but it could be 2018 instead of 2017.

WHOA! "Carter, Dozier, Tayor and Gareri are all capable players..." We HOPE they are capable, but none have proven that at the collegiate level. Three of 'em have yet to play a single minute of college ball. I'll wager that only 1 or two people on this board have ever seen Dozier play a regulation game. I want all of our guys to be successful, but I'm not gonna drink the Kool-Aid until I see 'em a few times against collegiate opposition.

And Gareri and Carter are stretch 4's who have shown a propensity for rebounding but who I don't look at as post players. When Wad and Tony leave we have only one real post player in Doug Taylor. Even Dozier seems to fit more of a "4" In the MAC you have to have a couple of reliable big guys inside. I wouldn't mind someone like a Kwan Cheatham who can knock down 3's and is big enough to bull his way in the middle.

I'd be surprised if anyone here has seen him. He's from my county and I'd never heard of him when his name popped up here. I've never seen us on a guy I could find less information about. He might be a heck of a player but that's still a huge question mark.

Disagree abt Carter and Gareri. You're assuming they can't "bull" their way inside? I think they both can handle the low post fine. And Kwan Cheatum was no major force inside IMO. Video of Gareri shows he has fine post moves.

Agreed. Plus, how do we know young Mr. Gareri WON'T be our big? He still has one more year of high school and he's already 6'8". He may very well still have some more growing to go. :)

Fair points. I guess I'm looking at this from a different perspective: Really good guards win a lot of games, often more than really good bigs. Of course, we'll know a lot more about what they really have in Culver, Gollon, Carter, and Dozier by the end of December. I'd venture a guess that the final scholarship doesn't get filled until the spring anyway.

At the start of my senior year in high school, I was 6' even. A year and a half later, I was six feet, eight inches so very possible Mr. Gareri might grow a bit more.

Corey Evans at Round ball Rundown in Pittsburgh tweets that Gareri could be an all MAC level player if he makes the normal progressions.

I am glad that Jaaron will be around for another year with Carter, Gareri and the other recruit. He will make them better like he made Big Tone better.

Great news. Welcome aboard young man.

I really like what I've read so far. Likes contact, can shoot outside, etc.

Can somebody hit a pull up jumper for me?.....
